ComingSoon.net has Hi-Rez Pics of the Dawn Treader
Posted August 17, 2009 11:13 am by fantasia_kittyComingSoon.net was sent some hi-rez pictures of the Dawn Treader. It’s not much further along than when we posted AutumnHeart’s pictures yesterday, but the shots are from some new angles, and they’re really cool to look at.

A good shot of the back of the head where you can see the rigging acting as "reins" for the dragon's head. And that wire hanging down from its mouth — might that be where the lantern is hung?
You can check out all of ComingSoon.net’s story and pictures for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader here.

Narnia Role for Historic Bedford Truck
Posted August 17, 2009 7:41 am by fantasia_kittyThe Bayside Bulletin has a story on one of the “stars” of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader , a historic 1938 Bedford WLG. The truck’s owner, Graham Kircher, is a collector of vehicles from the 1930s, and was contacted about using one of them as a prop for the opening scene in Narnia. “I had half a dozen vehicles from the 1930s that might have worked, and the art director went through them, saying ’too shiny’, ’wrong colour’, until they settled on the Bedford. The only problem was it was red and brown, and they needed military. They aged the truck with coffee, then put advertisements, numbers and registration stickers on it from the time period and I hung around for the day in case they needed me to drive it anywhere – I was there for hours but the scene they were shooting took 12 takes to get only 25 seconds. The set was impressive: there were extras in period costume on bikes and with prams, and a blue screen three storeys high to project a big sandstone building onto later.” You can read the full story here.

Two Blogs Give Detailed Reports on the Wharf Set and Filming
Posted August 15, 2009 10:20 am by fantasia_kittyEven though filming the Narrowhaven Wharf scene is finished, two people have posted extensive blogs about their trips to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader set that we thought you all might be interested in seeing.
The first blog, Under Her Starry Mantle, has pictures of the Wharf set a day or two before they started filming. There are no actors in these pictures, but she did get a few fantastic shots of the set, the props, and perhaps most interestingly, the rowboats used by the Dawn Treader.
You can see all of the pictures at Under Her Starry Mantle’s blog here.
Thanks to icarus and H.M.Swanwhite for the heads-up.
The second report is an update from Movie Mazzupial (who was responsible for those cell phone snaps of Coriakin’s Garden). She boated by the Wharf set the day of filming. The pictures are sadly a bit small and hard to make out, but they’re still very interesting to look at. And if you look very, very closely at eigth picture down, you can barely make out what might be the Dawn Treader crew in uniform.
Movie Mazzupial writes “There were a few dozen men dressed in matching uniforms in the scene and they had to run up and down the set. It looked like a medieval military uniform of some sort and consisted of brown pants, a white shirt and a maroon vest thingy with the emblem of what looked like a yellow lion on it.”
You can check out her blog here.
Thanks to icarus for the heads-up.
