12 New Photos: Reepicheep On Set

Reep's stand-insTwelve more pictures are up at MundoNarnia.com, including a shot of Reepicheep’s stand-ins. My guess is that the more realistic stand-in is used for lighting reference, and the green one is what the actors interact with during the scenes. In post-production, the green stand-in will be erased, and then replaced with a computer-generated character (voiced by Eddie Izzard). Green and blue are often used for this because these colors are considered to be the “furthest away” from human skin tones, and so are easier for the computer to isolate and erase.

This first sighting of Reepicheep on set should excite fans, since his role in “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” is what made him the fan-favorite of the series.

Most of the photos show Ben Barnes talking to the crowd through the gate, and if you look at the bottom/right corner of one of them, you’ll see Douglas Gresham (co-producer, C.S. Lewis’ stepson).

Dunwich Children Enjoy Narnia Field Trip

Posted September 15, 2009 8:58 am by wisewoman 42 Comments

A class of 23 children from the Dunwich State School recently got to visit the set of the Dawn Treader for a school field trip. While there, they met Will Poulter, Shane Rangi, a faun, and some pirates. Will told the children that they were friendlier than Londoners, and that he is trying to learn bodyboarding. There are some cute pictures and snippets in this article, which you can read here. Thanks Peace and Love for the heads-up.

Video: Drinian at the Helm

Drakeshe” recently posted a YouTube video of Drinian standing at the helm of the Dawn Treader. We haven’t seen much of Drinian yet. The video is short, but it’s something at least!

Thanks 7chronicles and Salem for the heads-up!

Video: Better Look at “Dragon Attack”

Posted September 14, 2009 5:05 pm by glumPuddle 107 Comments

A couple weeks ago, NarniaWeb posted a video showing the crew filming a scene in which a dragon “attacks” the Dawn Treader. About one week later, according to another report from the set, Douglas Gresham confirmed that the dragon is Eustace (aka DragonEustace).

Now, ‘ellieisunique‘ has posted a higher-quality video on YouTube (note there is some language in the commentary). You can see the crew’s behavior more clearly, and catch a glimpse of Caspian.

This scene is not in the book, so there is a lot of speculation going on in the forum. What do you think? Is DragonEustace actually “attacking” the Dawn Treader? Is he trying to ask the crew for help? Why are Caspian and the crew on the ship instead of the island? Join the discussion.

UPDATE: Tamara’s latest video gives us an even closer look at the crew’s behavior. You can see them aiming their crossbows (which do indeed appear to be Telmarine crossbows).

NarniaWeb Sends Letter to Dawn Treader Cast

Posted September 14, 2009 11:59 am by Tirian 111 Comments

This month NarniaWeb sent a support letter to the cast and crew currently working on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. There were over 3,000 of you that signed your names to this letter and we delivered every single one to the cast and crew.

Dear Ben, Skandar, Georgie, Will, and the whole Dawn Treader cast and crew,

After a few tumultuous months where we didn’t know whether or not this movie would even be made, we are extremely excited that all of you have returned to film the next chapter in Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Will, as the newcomer, we are extremely excited to see you as the much-loved character, Eustace.

If you don’t know already, we are members of NarniaWeb.com, an international website for fans of the Chronicles of Narnia. We’ve been fanatically following all the Narnia movie news since November of 2003 and for us, December 2010 can’t come soon enough.

We are behind you all the way and know you will do a great job. We can’t wait to see you again at the cinema!

Sincerely,

The Members of NarniaWeb

Thanks to all of you who signed the letter!

The latest video posted by NarniaWeb Spy Tamara shows the crew filming a scene in which Eustace (Will Poulter) runs into a minotaur on board the Dawn Treader. You can also see Howard Berger with the minotaur, and 2nd AD Jeff Okabayashi talking through the microphone (left side).

UPDATE: Tamara sent us pictures and a report:

Hi, I went to the set again this morning and last Friday. Unfortunately I didn’t see anything to too exciting this time. I did get some shots of Will but that was about it. Some of the photos I have included show the bronze statue, and you can see in the photos that they look like fauns, but they have no horns.. Also, I only just noticed that some of the Narnian crew have different coloured outfits. Some are blue (top) and maroon (pants) and some are maroon (top) and blue (pants). Am I the only person who’s just noticed that?? Haha. Do you think it’s got to do with ranking??
A funny story, there were a whole bunch of people crammed right up at the fence watching and a few of them started to call out to Shane Rangi who was walking around. He came over to talk to them and this little old lady asked him to pose while she took a picture and he gave all the little kids high five’s (don’t reckon they’d have a clue who he was lol). I couldn’t hear what he was saying but everyone was laughing really loudly and some guy came over and had to tell everyone to shut up!
I also heard some people talking and apparently this is the last week that they will be filming at Cleveland!
