Possible Toy Sketches

Posted December 15, 2009 12:16 pm by Tirian 32 Comments

Kelila writes in to tell us about some Dawn Treader toy sketches she found on Deviant Art. It appears that user ‘pnitink’ works as an illustrator and did these sketches for his employer as some basic possibilities for potential Dawn Treader toys. We’ve graciously been given permission to reprint the images, but make sure to check out the rest of the artist’s work at Deviant Art. And remember, these are just concept sketches… nothing more. The real-life toys will surely be much different.

Stand-in for Peter?

Posted December 14, 2009 5:15 pm by fantasia_kitty 147 Comments

18300_Zak Morcillo112_DisplayWe’ve had lots of interesting news today. Here’s one final fascinating tidbit.

Zak Morcillo – Stand in (Peter), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

So it seems that Peter may make a cameo appearance in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader after all. And if Peter’s in this movie, it seems likely that Susan will be as well.

Thanks again for the heads-up icarus!

Edited to Add: There seems to be some confusion as to the part that Zak is playing. He’s playing Peter’s stand-in, NOT Peter. There’s a difference. A movie stand-in is someone who is very similar to a stunt double. They are there when the actor can’t be or doesn’t need to be. They’re cast the same height, weight and coloring as the actual actor so the crew setting up the shots have a body double to work with instead of the actor.

We posted a story a few days ago on Will Poulter’s stand-in, Morgan Keavney-Rattue here. If you read it, it might clear up some confusion.

If, as this story implies, Peter makes an actual appearence in the movie, he will most certainly be played by Will Moseley.

“Ambassador’s Wife at a Party”

Posted December 14, 2009 2:38 pm by fantasia_kitty 30 Comments

NarniaWebber icarus keeps a running thread on the forum of every minor character, extra, and stand-in that he’s found to be involved in the movie (and other members participate as well). We rarely post stories on them, not because they aren’t important, but because there are so many. However, this particular character that icarus ran across has a most intriguing title…

Deena KhargamAmbassador’s wife at a party, The Chronicals of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader

All sorts of questions pop up from this single cast role. A party in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader? Where would that fit in? And as she’s a lovely Indian actress, what culture would she be representing as an ambassador’s wife? The Calormen race? Let your speculations begin now!

As always, thanks to icarus for the heads-up!

AslansCountry Interviews Ernie Malik: Part 2

Posted December 14, 2009 1:06 pm by fantasia_kitty 56 Comments

AslansCountry.com has posted Part 2 of their interview with Ernie Malik. (If you missed Part 1, it can be seen here.) Here are a couple highlights:

Cy: Another rumor said that Dawn Treader could be released in 3-D. Could you confirm this?
Ernie: The film was NOT shot in a 3-D format.

Cy: There have been many, many rumors on whether Trumpkin and Dr. Cornelius shall appear in Dawn Treader. Shall they?
Ernie: You’ll have to wait for the movie to see for yourself.

[Sidenote: The production confirmed for us that neither character would be appearing in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, so unless they have a top secret cameo, they will not be in the movie.]

And finally, Cyclops was kind enough to send us a bombshell of a preview to the final interview questions.

Cy: Will all of the islands described in the Dawn Treader book be included in the movie?
Ernie: We consolidated seven islands into five.

We know that the Lone Islands, The Island of Voices (aka Island of the Duffers), and Ramandu’s Island will be present in the movie. Dragon’s Island is very likely to be there as well due to the set photo of treasure we’ve seen. So that leaves Burnt Island, Deathwater Island, and Dark Island. Two out of three of those will not be in the movie it seems.

You can read the full interview at AslansCountry.com here and also on Cyclops’s personal site here.

Thanks to Cyclops for the news!!

A Picture of the Narrowhaven Town Set?

Cherbourg State School students visit the set of Dawn Treader

Cherbourg State School students visit the set of Dawn Treader

icarus writes:

A group of school children from Cherbourg State School in Australia entered a short film in the Queensland Young Filmmakers Festival 2009, and apparently won the “Story with Impact” award. Their prize was a visit to the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

They haven’t written a full on set report like some of the previous visitors did (at least, not one that i’ve managed to find just yet) but they did for now include a photo of them at what i presume to be the Narrowhaven Town Square set, based on previous set report descriptions

You can read icarus’ full typed up story in the post linked below.

Thanks icarus for the find!

The second is Robbie Harrison who played one of the first mates aboard the Dawn Treader. You can read their stories at The Weekender’s website here. Thanks to ellz_bellz for the heads-up!
UPDATE: NarniaWebber icarus found a digital edition of the same article that includes pictures of both actors. You can view it here, but there are some very adult ads in this version. This particular article is on page 16 and 17.
