AslansCountry’s Cyclops had the opportunity to interview Ryctor who portrayed a dufflepud in the upcoming The Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The actor talks about his role and working with the rest of the cast.

Cy: What was it like performing with all the other actors- the dufflepuds, Skandar, Georgie, etc.

Ryctor: I really had a great time, we had a fantastic cast and crew, everyone seemed to work together with great enthusiasm. And to find out now its going to be in 3D is just awesome. I am really looking forward to seeing the final product.

You can read the full interview here.

Thanks to everyone who sent it in!

New Poster? Or Really Good Fan Art?

Posted July 31, 2010 3:22 pm by fantasia_kitty 62 Comments

We were contacted a couple days ago about an apparent new poster and production art for the movie. At the time it was decided to not post it as we felt very strongly they were fan art posters and nothing more. However, since then, other sites have done stories on these posters and promotional photos, including some sites stating they’re official and we felt we needed to comment.

We still stand by our original feelings that these are NOT official, only fan-made. Take a look…

The most obvious reason we believe this to be fan-made is that the sail on the Dawn Treader is incomplete. Fox and Walden would never, EVER, release incomplete art on one of their posters. In fact, if you remember back when the Dawn Treader was being filmed at Cleveland Point, the sail was cut off at the exact same point, meaning the original photo probably came from there. Not only that, there is no Fox and Walden logo, no release date, and no big, bold 3D.

And the picture that seems to be confusing the most people… This picture of Aslan came from the Disney/Walden Facebook page for Prince Caspian. You can see the original photo in our gallery here.

Thus far Fox has sent all new posters and promotional images either straight to us or to the official Narnia.com website. So sorry Dawn Treader fans, nothing new from the production, just fan art (albeit very GOOD fan art).

Thanks to everybody who contacted us with this story!

UPDATE: We think we’ve found where the pictures originally came from. They’re being used as promotional images on both Italian and French Dawn Treader websites. (Example) So we admit that we were incorrect about it being fan-art and apologize for reporting so. As this is now the case, it’s likely that these images were sent out before they had completed the full design of the ship.

Watch the Dawn Treader trailer in 3D online

A 3D version of the Dawn Treader trailer has been uploaded to YouTube. This is just a fan-made trailer, but it’s pretty cool. If you have 3D glasses (red, cyan), watch the trailer here. Select 1080p for the best quality. If you end up seeing the film in 3D, you will needed glasses of course, but not the red and blue kind that distort the color. Thanks to ‘Grant’ for the find.

Official Narnia Website for Korea has New Concept Art

Posted July 21, 2010 2:05 pm by fantasia_kitty 46 Comments

If you go to Narnia.com and click on the Country Selector, you’ll notice that there are now a few other countries/languages besides the USA in which to view the Dawn Treader website (Australia, Holland, France, and Korea to be specific). If you click on the Games section on the official website for Korea each of the games has a new piece of concept art to check out.

We have been asked by the production to remove these photos. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As far as I can tell, the games aren’t actually active yet. At least I get a broken link when I try to click on them, but the concept art is worth it.

Thanks icarus for the heads up!

New Dawn Treader Synopsis

Posted July 21, 2010 12:53 pm by fantasia_kitty 48 Comments

Walden Media’s website has added a new synopsis to their page for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Return to the magic and wonder of C.S. Lewis’ beloved world – via the fantastic Narnian ship, the Dawn Treader.  In this new installment of the blockbuster “The Chronicles of Narnia” motion picture franchise, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, their royal friend King Caspian, and a warrior mouse named Reepicheep, find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to the Dawn Treader.  Their mission – on which rests the fate of Narnia itself – takes the courageous voyagers to mysterious islands and a river that turns to gold, to fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies, and to a reunion with their friend and protector, the “Great Lion” Aslan.

You can check out all of the previous synopses here.

Thanks Grant for the heads up!

Update on VDT at Comic-Con

Posted July 21, 2010 11:41 am by fantasia_kitty 10 Comments

Last week we reported that Narnia would make a minimal appearance at Comic-Con this year. Well according to MSN’s story here, Fox will actually be promoting The Voyage of the Dawn Treader pretty heavily. We went back and checked Comic-Con’s schedule again, and still no mention of a Dawn Treader panel, so we think that for those of you who are going, the booth for Fox Entertainment is your best bet. Tonight is preview night and we’re hoping we might get a sneak peek of what Fox might have in store.

NarniaWebber Raticus writes: “This afternoon at about 3PM Central Standard Time, the trailer for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was shown on Fox Movie Channel. It was shown after an interview with the director of Ramona & Beezus.” This is the first we’ve heard of the trailer being shown on TV. It’s great to hear about more promotion that Fox is doing for VDT! Thanks Raticus!
