Will Poulter on the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Offcial Facebook page for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has just updated with a new blog: Five Questions with Will Poulter. Here’s an excerpt from the blog.

How did you come to get the role of Eustace? What was the audition process like for you?

I was really lucky because I got to go to the very first audition in London. But it was postponed due to the writers’ strike in America. So, six months later, they contacted me and asked if I would like to audition again. I was lucky that I hadn’t really grown much; otherwise it could have been difficult [to be considered for the part]. So, I was really lucky to get onto the next round of casting, and then I finally got to meet Michael [Apted] and audition with Georgie and Skandar. I was a complete newbie, and hadn’t really done much film work, so I was very nervous in the audition. Then, Michael rang me up and told me I got the part, which was really great. I should also say that it’s been over two years since I first auditioned for the role. I had already done Son of Rambow at that point.

You can read the whole interview on the Facebook page here.

From Kingharryscornwall.co.uk:

From 28-30 August, visitors will have the chance to climb aboard the Dawn Treader from the much loved Chronicles of Narnia stories. The ship is in fact the Matthew from Bristol, which will be transformed into the Dawn Treader, with its spectacular dragon’s head and tail. The ship is being used to promote the forth coming Hollywood blockbuster The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the Maritime Museum is the only place on the south coast where the public will have the chance to climb on board.

Visitors can also make their own Reepicheep finger puppets, complete with golden earring; follow the trail around the Museum to find the hidden Narnian characters; and get a sneak-peek of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie before its release in December. Plus all children who dress-up as their favourite Narnian character will be entered into a fantastic prize draw for tickets to see the movie, courtesy of the Phoenix Cinema in Falmouth.

More information can be found on the National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s website here.

If you’re going, we’d love to have your full report!

Huge thanks to icarus for the heads up on this one!

David Arnold Hosts Second Concert for Care: Gregson-Williams Will Attend

From The Hollywood Reporter:

James Bond film composer David Arnold today announced details of his second annual Concert for Care, a charity event for Care International at the Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 18 that will feature one of the biggest ever gatherings of top movie composers.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will play selections of film scores and songs introduced by a dozen men and women who have written some of the most popular film music of recent years.

Arnold, an ambassador for Care International currently working on the music for the upcoming “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” staged the first Concert for Care at London’s O2 Academy Brixton in 2009 with a line up of pop and rock stars.

Having witnessed the work Care does for the under-privileged around the world, Arnold says he was able to attract top people with more big names to be announced.

Arnold promises, “a unique evening with wonderful music as we present some of the greatest film music and movie songs written.”

Tickets for the concert and for the screening go on sale on Aug. 6, with news of additional star names to be updated at www.concertforcare.com.

Other composers in attendance thus far are Craig Armstrong, Anne Dudley, John Powell, Patrick Doyle, Dario Marianelli, Rachel Portman, George Fenton, John Ottman, Jimmy Carr, and last but not least, Harry Gregson-Williams (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Prince Caspian).

French Narnia Fans: Win a Trip on the Dawn Treader

Posted August 1, 2010 9:32 am by fantasia_kitty 26 Comments

Last month we reported on Fox, National Geographic, and Italy teaming up to give two lucky Italians the chance to sail for a week on a replica Dawn Treader. Now the same competition is open to France.

As far as I can tell, the prize for winning seems to be the same, but instead of answering a question based off of a National Geographic show, you just have to answer a quiz question about the books to enter.

An approximate translation from blog.okapi-jebouquine.com:

You also enter into the magic of Narnia by participating in the competition to win a week’s cruise across southern England on the ship of Narnia, the “Dawn Treader”.

And YOU a unique experience during which you must share the quest of Lucy, Edmund and Eustace and pass tests worthy of the heroes of Narnia into ancient castles from the English coast.

Go to FoxFilm’s website here to enter.

Thanks to The Bulgy Bear for the heads up!

Posted August 1, 2010 9:07 am by fantasia_kitty 9 Comments

After posting the story on the Dawn Treader poster yesterday, we received lots of comments stating that there have been numerous sitings of a new poster at local theaters that were similar to the one we reported on, but not exactly the same. If someone wouldn’t mind going and taking a picture of the new poster and sending us a spy report, we’d REALLY appreciate it! Thank you!
