ComingSoon.net Interviews Georgie Henley

Posted October 31, 2010 2:48 pm by fantasia_kitty 41 Comments

Hot on the heels of ComingSoon.net’s interview with Ben Barnes, they have posted an interview with Georgie Henley!

ComingSoon.net: What’s it like coming back to Narnia for the third time?
Georgie Henley: I think it’s great. I’m so excited to be here. It’s my favorite book in the series. I was really excited when I realized I was coming out here. It’s a bit different, but I think change is good.

CS: Different how?
Henley: Well there’s a new director, Will and Anna aren’t here and a new addition to the cast, Will Poulter who plays Eustace, and we’re not shooting in New Zealand, we’re in Australia. Just things like that.

CS: What is the difference between working with Michael Apted verses Andrew Adamson?
Henley: I don’t think you can really compare the two. They’re completely different directors and I think they’ve both got great styles. I think it’s really good that we all get along with Michael really well. I love Michael. He’s fantastic. What he’s doing with the film is brilliant. I really admire Andrew and think he did a great job on the other two films. I just think this film is not going to be not better or not worse but just different.

Scope Online Reveals More ‘Voyage’ Plot Spoilers

Posted October 31, 2010 1:05 pm by glumPuddle 69 Comments

A stageplay based on the actual script for “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” recently appeared on Scopes Online. It says it is “adapted by Tara Welty from the screenplay by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, and Michael Petroni, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis.” More plot information is revealed. Here are a few clips:

EDMUND: Where are we sailing?
CASPIAN: Before I took back the throne from my uncle, he tried to kill my father’s most loyal supporters–the seven lords of Telmar. They fled to the Lone Islands. No one’s heard from them since.
N4: They stare at a map of the oceans east of Narnia.
EDMUND: So you think something’s happened to them?
CASPIAN: That’s what we’re going to find out.

In “Scene 2,” Caspian finds Lord Bern imprisoned:

LORD BERN (to Caspian): You see, we seven lords made a pact to find the source of the mist and destroy it. The other six set sail but none came back. If you don’t get sold to slave traders, you’ll likley be fed to the mist as a sacrifice.

The end of this script also reveals details about the undragoning. Spoilers beware! Read if ye dare!

New Snowy Aslan Banner and Poster

Posted October 31, 2010 12:44 pm by fantasia_kitty 47 Comments

I’m sure most everyone has seen the cover of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader soundtrack by now featuring Aslan’s face surrounded by falling snow.

Using the same design theme, FoxMovies.com has added a new banner on their page for ‘Dawn Treader.’

And finally, NarniaWebber narnian1 writes:

So I went to the movies tonight. And Narnia has never been more prominent. They’ve had the “3D” cut-board for a while now. Over the summer I gave the pic of a banner that hung from the ceiling. This aside of the regular poster on the wall. Well, now they have a huge poster of Aslan (identical to the first poster), and it’s behind where we buy tickets.

But I noticed a new one for the first time. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me, and I won’t be going back for some time to the theater. I did however have my phone and it does have a camera. Only it takes small pics.

It is interesting to me at least that most of the main characters have a little poster shaped rectangle at the bottom. Does this mean that character posters might be available in the future? Who knows?

Chip Flaherty on the Importance of Storytelling in Filmmaking

Posted October 31, 2010 11:37 am by fantasia_kitty 3 Comments

On October 13, Chip Flaherty spoke at Franciscan University of Steubenville about the importance of storytelling and movie-making.
Here is an excerpt of what he talked about from Franciscan’s website:

Flaherty explained the power and gift of story and its importance in filmmaking, which he described as “the industry of storytelling.” He used the example of the evil king Miraz from the Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, one of Walden Media’s recent films, who banned the telling of certain stories to keep control of Narnia.
“The stories that are told shape a country, a culture, a people. Kids already know there is darkness; we have to tell them stories of knights, of courage, of standing up for the underdog, or when they do encounter injustice and evil they will be helpless against it.”
Flaherty also gave students a walk-through of the movie production industry, explaining the roles of the development, finance, business affairs, and marketing divisions. He emphasized that there is a place within the industry for anyone who is interested, hard working, and persistent enough.

More can be read about Chip’s visit here, here, and here. You can also see a short video clip here.
