Transcript:

Lucy and Edmund walk into the Scrubb’s house. Harold is reading the paper.
Lucy: We’re home!

Lucy and Edmund are in Lucy’s bedroom. Lucy’s looking into a mirror.
Edmund: Lucy, have you seen this ship before?
Lucy: It’s very Narnian isn’t it?
Eustace walks into the room.
Eustace: What’s going on here?
Lucy: Edmund the painting!
Eustace runs to tear the painting from the wall.
Edmund: No Eustace no!

The bedroom fills with water and all three swim to the surface. As Lucy arrives at the top, she sees the Dawn Treader approaching.
Lucy: Edmund!
Caspian and Lucy are pulled from the water.
Everyone now aboard the deck, Caspian addresses his crew.
Caspian: Behold our castaways, King and Queen of Narnia.
The crew kneels before them.
Lucy: Reepicheep!
Reepicheep: Your majesties!

Eustace throwing a temper tantrum screams at the crew as they stand around smirking.
Eustace: Where in the blazes am I?
Tavros the Minotaur: You’re on the Dawn Treader.
Eustace takes one look at the minotaur and faints. The crew laughs.
Tavros to Rynelf: Was it something I said?

FROM C.S. LEWIS’S EPIC MASTERPIECE

Caspian, Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, and Reepicheep sail through the sea of lilies where they arrive on the shore before the edge of the world. A giant wave is in the background as they greet Aslan.
Lucy: Aslan.
Aslan: You have come far. Your adventure begins now.

A water nymph leaps out of the water in front of the ship.

Caspian, Edmund, and Lucy look up into the sky as a brilliant blue light descends upon them.
Lucy: Look!
The light transforms into Lilliandril.
Lilliandril: Travelers of Narnia, I am your guide.
Caspian: You are most beautiful.
Lilliandril: If it is a distraction for you, I-I can change forms.
Caspian and Edmund: No!
Caspian and Edmund look at each other. Lucy looks at them and rolls her eyes.

Coriakin throws a map across the room in his library.
Coriakin: There is the source of your trouble.
The white witch appears as a phantom in green smoke.
Edmund: You mean a witch?
Coriakin walks around looking at Edmund.
Coriakin: Something far more powerful than a witch.
Green smoke crawls down the stairs and seeps into the room.
Coriakin: It can steal the light from this world.
Lucy: How do we stop it?
Coriakin points at Edmund.
Coriakin: That sword you carry must be laid at Aslan’s table.
Shot of Edmund drawing a sword in a cave.
Shot of everyone walking around Aslan’s table. A great feast sits on it.
Coriakin: Only then can their true power be released.
Seven swords sit on Aslan’s table. They glow blue and then a great beam of light shoots up into the air.
Coriakin: You are all about to be tested.

The Dawn Treader approaches the Dark Island.
Green smoke crawls onto the ship.
The White Witch: Edmund, come with me. I can make you my king, and much more.
The White Witch reaches out to Edmund.
The White Witch: My King.
Lucy: NOO!!!
Caspian: EDMUND!
The sword Edmund is holding glows blue.

Reepicheep soaking wet in a rainstorm clings to the ship.
Reepicheep: Onward to our destiny!

Drinian, Tavros, and Edmund stand at the helm of the Dawn Treader.
Tavros: What do you think is in there?
Sailors row boats towards Ramandu’s Island.
Someone (Drinian or Rynelf?): Things you can barely imagine.

Lucy walks through a doorway and as it closes becomes invisible on the island.

Shot of the Dawn Treader from above with Drinian at the helm and the crew standing around.

Shot of Lilliandril.
Lilliandril: The fate of Narnia depends on you.
Lilliandril turns back into a star and shoots up into the air.

Lucy looks down at a book with a bunch of jumbled letters. Blowing the dust off, it turns into The Book of Incantations. Lucy smiles. The book is opened and pages are turning rapidly. Lucy slams her hand down on the book. The next moment it is snowing and Lucy looks around smiling.

Dragon Eustace flies overhead.

Caspian addressing the crew. The crew shouts “For Narnia!”

Caspian and the others battle the slavers in the bell tower.

Dragon Eustace flies over the volcanic island below.

The sea serpent erupts out of the ocean. The Dawn Treader lists to one side and the crew falls backwards. The sea serpent roars. Lucy aims an arrow.

Dragon Eustace flies over the Dawn Treader. One of the fauns does a somersault across the deck.

Eustace is surrounded by jumping Dufflepuds.

Reepicheep climbs the mast of the Dawn Treader and looks out from the crows nest and smiles.

Lucy, surrounded by Caspian, Edmund, Eustace and Aslan, kneels down to say goodbye to Reepicheep.

The sea serpent goes to attack Eustace as a dragon, and Eustace breaths fire back at the sea serpent.

Aslan roars.

Final credits.

Thanks adamie for the alert!

    Yay! I found that!

  2. Rilian says:

Wow. This looks like the film is headed for disaster with so little resembling the book, especially in terms of the themes of the story and the whole purpose for having the Voyage in the first place, but I'll carry the rest of my thoughts to the forums…

  3. glumPuddle says:

As a piece of marketing, this is a really good trailer. Lots of energy. Well done, Fox. Great to hear Harry Gregson-Williams' music.

But as far as the plot of the movie… The Seven Swords thing still sounds awfully cheesy. A quest to save Narnia is not what VDT should be about. It's a personal journey about the longing for one's true home and the joy of finding it.

  4. -queenSUSAN- says:

well, this was awfully hard to watch as it buffered every five seconds, but I must say *as a trailer*, it ROCKS! We FINALLY get a plotline here, instead of just a bunch of random shots. Most of it looks really good. Made me excited, unlike the first trailer…..

  5. Sugar Mouse says:

Seven Swords? What happened to this movie? So, original plot is not good enpugh for them? 🙁

  6. Murtaghluv says:

OMIGOSH!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait. I am scared of the witch not like i don't want here to be there because i sure Edmund had nightmares of her. I am like literally scared.

  7. Warrior 4 Jesus says:

Agreed. It's a very good trailer and it may be interesting but not much of the trailer was reflective of the VDT novel.

  8. RuralNarniaFan says:

Awesome! Even considering all the problems I have with Fox / Walden's changes to the plot, all I can say after watching this trailer is AWESOME! 😀

  9. Manuel says:

But, glumPuddle, if a book can develop just one storyline, a movie usually need to offer more complexity, and obviously the adventure side is preferred to be shown in the trailer, not the spiritual one. Let´s hope they didn´t forget the deep real meaning of the book.

  10. Sarah says:

Yay! New trailer! The acting looks a lot better and the angles and shots look terrific. I'm disappointed at the "you-save-narnia-because-Aslan-couldn't-do-it-the-first-time" direction of the story. I think I will definitely appreciate the sets and scenes and hopefully that will offset my disappointment with the twisting of the story plot. Hollywood ain't C. S. Lewis.

  11. Caspian says:

I totally agree. The trailer is very epic and a lot better than the first one, but what happened to the storyline we Narnians love so well? The whole 'darkness' thing has me really irritated.

Ah, well. Off to write a blond Caspian fic that bashes movieverse. 🙂

  12. LJ says:

Well, I know I'm going to be pretty critical of the changes, as Voyage is my favorite of the books. I do wish Hollywood would learn to tell a real story rather than amping everything up with unnecessary action and plot-lines. Sometimes less is more. C.S. Lewis told a story that was amazing, and it never needed a threat to Narnia to make it exciting and meaningful. That being said, the trailer was entertaining. I'm going to see the movie, despite my reservations.

  13. jmw86 says:

Absolutely amazing! Much more emotional and character driven than the original trailer. This movie looks better than i had ever hoped. Perfecto! Thanks guys.

  14. Ugly Pig says:

Story changes aside (we already knew about those anyway), this trailer was surprisingly good. Certainly much more exciting than the first one. Nice to hear the established Narnia themes in there as well, now I'm just hoping that David Arnold used them at least a little bit in his new score.

  15. Narnia_is_Home says:

Oooh, I like!! Much better than the first two.
The whole "darkness" thing is reminding me a teeny bit of Lord of the Rings though…
Great to see more of Eustace! Just wish the glimpses of the dragon weren't so quick…

  16. georgielaurafankjm says:

Even though there are a lot of plot changes that we can see i really do think it will be a great movie

  17. To die, will be an awfully big adventure says:

    I LOVED IT!
    IT was very well done.
Lucy is beautiful, and it looks like Edmund will have more of plot himself. Eustace was perfect, not sure of the Minotaur yet. The Love Triangle was funny (even though I hope it doesn't go to far). The thing that freaked me out th most was when the Witch materialized over Caspian while he was sleeping….I still can't understand that. It's not just Edmund she's after now, it's also something to do with Caspian.
And the Sea Serpant reminded me of a star wars monster.

  18. Bother Eustace says:

Why must EVERY Narnia trailer have some variation of the line "The fate of Narnia rests on you?" Grr.

It looked really cool, I'll give it that. Half of me was really excited to see the film, but the other half is extremely upset at all the changes they've made. *sigh* I'm so confused.

  19. Malfhok says:

I haven't seen the whole thing yet (waiting for some English titles and 1080p) but I did enjoy it. Don't forget that the trailers for the previous two movies have looked way different from the book than the films turned out to be.

  20. Rilian says:

Actually, I don't find that to be the case. Usually the book has more nuances and complexity, and the film is more simplistic. But while a film is more simplistic, it doesn't have to be dumbed down which is what looks like is happening here.

  21. TrueNarnianWithWill says:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This trailer is much more epic than the first two! It also makes you want to see it whereas the others did not as much. IT WAS AMAZING!!! It also expalins the plot well. I think this is gonna be an absolutely amazing film ! ! ! ! 😀

  22. Reepicheep says:

That looks like the COOLEST thing ever. One thing missing. The biggest part. THE STORY! If they'd followed the book it would be one hundred times better. But it's already too late. 🙁

  23. 8SilverSky says:

I loved the trailer! I'm just going to say it again. I loved the trailer!!! Okay, so many things I was happy with! Peter and Susan are no longer in the trailer, and it looks like Dark Island has been made darker than it was in the first trailer! The sea serpent… wow, what a scary thing (in a good way)!! Eustace's line is also really well done! Well, all of the acting was amazing! The shot of the Dawn Treader sailing towards Dark Island *EEE SQUEEL* This trailer gets my thumbs up! Even if it has an extra plot to weave its way through the movie 🙂

  24. The Rose-Tree Dryad says:

Oh boy. When they got to the part with Edmund and the White Witch, I literally felt ill.

  25. N4eva says:

    wow. wow. wooooooow!
i found it much better than the first one- but i agree with glumPuddle that the seven swords thing is cheesy…
("a place where evil lurks" that still makes me crack up whenever i think about it- thnx glumPuddle! hahaha)

  26. LoyalNarnian says:

Did anyone notice the witch had green eyes??? Maybe she really is the lady of the green kirtle and the green serpant too later on. She gets her king then and plans to take over Narnia, it could very well be the same witch.

  27. DON'T GIVE THEM IDEAS!!! PLEASE!! seriously if they do that, I am boycotting the franchise

  28. I am REALLY dissapointed in this trailer. It is a very good trailer, marketing-wise, but the story is horrible. The whole book is being ruined. Coriakin's island look atrocious. Everything that happens there. Just horrible. And that part with Ramandu's Daughter- SO stupid. Just really really bad. *sigh* this is getting to the point where I almost don't even want to watch the movie. This isn't the same story, the same theme, the same message anymore 🙁

  29. NarnianRebel says:

All I can say is W-O-W This looks alot cooler then the first trailer! the dark island is darker the star prettier and there is more of the charaters. This thing I didn't like about PC trailer is that they only had like three shots of Edmund. And the first VDT trailer didn't have any Eustace/Caspian. I think this one put an equal amount of main charater shots in it. Oh! and it has the dragon and the serpant. (if that is how you spell that;) hehe!!!!

  30. Great trailer for a great movie that I really want to see.

But it really can't be based on C. S. Lewis' Epic Masterpiece because, well…I don't see much from the book except for the names. :/

  31. Rilian says:

The trailer is now in English on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFtb9kWjOBs

  32. Manuel says:

Agree with you Rillian, but I mean that if a writer can elect how complex will be his book and the kind of readers he wants, a blockbuster movie must to catch the attention of thousands of different people, so it´s logical that the trailer put the enphasis in action sequences, and in a basic storyline. My point is that the simple storyline doesn´t discard another more spiritual one, that will be developed at the same time in the movie.

So I don´t say complexity in a intellectual meaning, but in the variety of public that the movie must to attract to be a good bussiness.

  33. T.T says:

The Trailer looks nice and i can't wait. One thing i am glad for is dat we know the main problem isn't really the white witch. I guess the 7 swords quest was actually meant for Edmund and Lucy to give a purpose for their return to narnia (I drew this conclusion from the scene in the trailer in which the wizard is talking to Edmund and lucy. Caspian may not have been in this meeting cos from the trailer he wasn't shown. This is just a possibility). Another reason why i don't mind the 7 swords quest is because finding the 7 lords quest worked for the book but i doubt it would work for a movie because what good could the 7 lords do for narnia if they were found? The 7 lords quest in a movie may end up looking like Caspian is giving up his responsibility to save his conscience. this may look a bit selfish on screen. These are just my thoughts. THE FATE OF NARNIA REALLY DEPENDS ON ALL OF US. LETS STOP FINDING FAULTS AND TRY PROMOTING THE MOVIE SO WE CAN HAVE THE SILVER CHAIR!!!

  34. glumPuddle says:

Artistic compromise for the sake of box office dollars. Not cool. 🙁

  35. Tim Blair says:

Well, there goes my favorite book. Ruined. So sad right now.

  36. Melody says:

Sarah, this is off-topic…but haven't I seen your avy before? Are you Araneldesigns (http://www.etsy.com/shop/araneldesigns) on Etsy? 🙂

  37. narnian1 says:

The trailer looks amazing, I didn't read so I got many of the spoilers I had been avoiding. But that is a good thing, while it upsets me that it's not more faithful I am happy I know now because I can get ready for the changes. I'm sure much of what's in the book will transfer to the movie, with additions obviously. I don't mind the changes, I can live with that. If I want the identical book story, I'll just read the book.

Can't wait to see it in full.

  38. Alambil says:

I just wish Edmund wouldn't be so tempted by the White Witch…. this trailer makes it look like he's about to give in. =( Wasn't he the ONLY ONE is PC to resist the Witch's temptations and get rid of her?? They're making his character seem weaker than what he really is.

  39. I don't want The Silver Chair if it's going to be as bad as this

  40. narnia fan 7 says:

  41. Lucy says:

That was just too awesome! Love, love this trailer-I think. Although much too much of WW for my taste. Hopefully she'll STAY on the dark island and die FOR REAL this time when it gets destroyed. You know what? i've decided to go with the fact that her being able to live on is due to dreams and/or the fact that she ate that apple in MN. Anyhow, does anyone know why the audio is so high pitched and the logos are all like not in english?

  42. Tribunal says:

It's better than I was expecting but some parts make it look like it's a direct to dvd movie. The visual effects range from good to horrible and I hate that they recycled the same music from the LWW trailer.

  43. Twinimage says:

Did the prow of the ship change on the Dark Island???

  44. Braden Woodburn says:

OMG!!!! This is the best out of the first 2 trailers for this movie that I have seen! The parts that gave me the chills with seeing the White Witch as a phatom and then seeing more of her in Edmunds nightmare! Then all the suspense action taking place toward the end.. love it! And I love how Eustace faints whenever that monitar is like "you're in Narnia" lol! OH and Lucy's face whenever Caspian and Edmund both say "no" at the same time. Ekkk this movie is going to rock!!!

  45. Eviliini says:

The trailer is good, I especially like the way they use the music from the LWW trailer. I'm actually looking forward to this movie. But it still looks like just another fantasy movie for kids, very harrypotteresque. What happened to the storyline of the book? I don't know, I just wanted this film to be a bit more original, to take risks. This isn't the Dawn Treader we all love, but hey, it still might make an entertaining movie…

  46. thomas says:

It looks good to me! It seems they're keeping the spirit of the books. Voyage, seven lords, temptations, Reepicheep wanting Aslan's country, Eustace being a jerk, Eustace being "dragoned," the Sea Serpent, Dufflepuds, the Dark Island. It looks like its all there! Can't wait to see it.

  47. Lucy says:

Ah, yes, the names, and, don't forget, the fact that they went through the painting; that was in the book too. (giggles like a two year old after eating six sugar cookies, and winks).

  48. Feather~Light~Heart says:

This was a much better trailer than the first. It looks like it'll be a great movie.

However, I've tried to remain optimistic about this movie from the beginning, but this trailer has just about dashed all my hopes for it. :'( I'm very disappointed in how it looks in that sense.

  49. Pattertwigs Pal says:

I only counted six swords on the table. I don't know why but this actually made me feel a little better. I must be sick or something. The part "Edmund: You mean a witch?
Coriakin walks around looking at Edmund.
Coriakin: Something far more powerful than a witch." makes me think that something else is trying to call the witch back and she isn't coming of her own accord. I don't like her being there at all but if she isn't behind the stuff it will be a little better.

  50. To die, will be an awfully big adventure says:

The Sea Serpant broke the Dawn Treader Prow!!!!

  51. Bookwyrm says:

Tilda Swinton has green eyes, no need to ring the alarm bells yet. Not that it'll do much good if we do object since they've proven they do whatever the heck they want. 😛

  52. QueenLucy12 says:

Wow Glenstorm youre being a positive cookie. 🙁

  53. Bookwyrm says:

Have you actually read the book? Caspian wasn't "giving up" responsibility. He swore the oath to recover the Seven Lords when he was coronated and spent three years fighting to make Narnia safe before he left. It's stated quite plainly that he would never have left if Narnia was in danger. What Caspian did in the book was good and noble. It was about righting the wrongs committed by his uncle, not just for the Narnians, but for the Telmarines Miraz had been cruel to. If today's people look at that and say "Selfish" then our society really is screwed beyond all saving.

  54. Bookwyrm says:

Pfft, it'll be *worse*. I forget who it was, but someone involved in the production already made a comment about SC being a "walking and talking" book, so I can just see the EPIC!!! battle scenes with the giants and the gnomes and a five hundred foot long serpent-form LotGK hurling herself at the walls of Cair Paravel.

  55. Clodsley Mole says:

The fate of Narnia doesn't depend on us, but the fate of the film may be affected by our reaction to the trailers!
It does have a lot of changes from the book. But it looks like a great movie. This way I will have a book story and a movie story to enjoy, side by side but not identical.
    I'm looking forward to it!

  56. QueenLucy12 says:

I Think after seeing this trailer I'm more pumped for the movie than I was a few days ago, from watching glumpuddles youtube videos. There is alot of the swords blah, blah yepp cheesy. But I'm having more hope for the movie, which is what we all need to have. This trailer has made me officially OFFICIALLY Excited for the movie! But Im kindof worried for the dragon. idk why, but I just want it to look as real as they can get it! anyway, I think this is better than the first two.

  57. Omac the centaur says:

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THATS AWESOME!!!! lol "were the blazes am I?!" "Ur on the Dawn Treader." 'Faints.' "Was it something i said?" HAHAHA!

  58. Linden says:

Whoa, Bookwyrm, you thought of an atrocity I haven't thought of yet! I burst into fits of laughter thinking of the giant LotGK serpent battering the walls of Cair Paravel. That is SO something film makers would do! It's funny thinking about it, but I think I would be sick seeing it. We should just make our own version here on NarniaWeb.

  59. Mark Sommer says:

I have to pretty much agree with you, glumPuddle. Great trailer, but I, too, and concerned about the direction they are taking this. The whole seven swords thing does look cheesy.
