‘Dawn Treader’ Review Posted on AICN

Posted November 23, 2010 7:37 am by fantasia_kitty 47 Comments

For those of you who have been hoping for a review from a more neutral perspective regarding the Narnia films, AICN has been sent a spoiler-free review of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by Maxwell Smart.
By AICN’s standards, this review is family-friendly for a change (though I would avoid the comments section), and it’s also fairly positive. If you remember their review of Prince Caspian, they pretty much hated that movie.
You can check out the story here.

Watch the Indian Music Video for ‘Dawn Treader’

Posted November 23, 2010 7:25 am by fantasia_kitty 57 Comments

Sony Music and Indian Idol 5 winner Sreeram Chandra have put together two Indian music videos for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. One in the dialect of Tamil and the other in Telugu. The song is called ‘Rehnuma’ and the videos have some new scenes from the movie. (Though the song is sung in different dialects, the music videos are the same).

The full story is available here.

Thanks to The Archenlander for the heads up!

Here’s the video from a local Indian news story on YouTube but it has a lot of scrolling text at the bottom.

Thanks to Narnian_Maniac and NarnianDuchess for the YouTube link!

UPDATE!! We have the lyrics.

Rehnuma – Leader

O my leader, now I desire for you every moment.
You wrote my story and molded my ways
and now this world is a pleasant place

O my leader, this world now shines
because of your presence

You became the breath of my life, dear friend
This world is now colorful because of your presence
O Lord who leads me

Thanks narnianprofessor for sending them in!

Crosswalk.com Interviews Douglas Gresham

Doug Gresham on the set of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ~ Pic sent to us by Tamara

Crosswalk.com has posted an excellent interview with Douglas Gresham regarding The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Here are some highlights.

This is your third time out with a Narnia film. But even so, is it sill thrilling to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader on the big screen?

Absolutely! I enjoy making these movies enormously for the most part. I spent the whole of the shooting time actually on set this time. I enjoy it enormously. This is a tough job. There’s a lot of work involved, but at the same time it’s a blessing for me to get to do it.

Can you give an example of something in the adaptation of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader that you took issue with or fought for or didn’t want changed from book to screen?

Well there are so many. Always when you translate a book from the sort of medium of print into a movie, you’re going to have to make changes. What happens in these things is that there’s a sort of group of people—almost an informal committee—that decide what to do and what to put into the screenplay and so forth. And being a complete and utter Narnia fanatical purist, any comma they moved to me is an anathema. So I argue pretty strongly for what I believe in. And we always come to a compromise situation. So there are always things that I would rather not have done, and there are always things the director probably would not have done. And he’s moved in my direction, and I’ve moved in his. This is the sort of cooperative process in making a movie from a book. And I think it probably doesn’t infringe on people’s consciousness when they see the movies as much as it does on mine when I’m actually making the movies. I work very hard to make my points and some of them are understood and some of them are not and so forth. But we always work as sort of a team to eventually come out with something that results in usually a first-class film.

What is your favorite scene in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader?

Well, without a doubt, my favorite scene in this film is the ending of it. It’s one of the most moving and beautiful scenes ever put on-screen. I think everybody will find it the same way.

You can read the full and quite lengthy interview at Crosswalk’s Narnia coverage!

I also rather liked Crosswalk.com’s little editorial on whether or not you should read the book before you see the movie.

New TV Spots to Watch For

Posted November 21, 2010 12:28 pm by fantasia_kitty 7 Comments

We’ve received a couple spy reports of possibly one or two new ‘Dawn Treader’ TV Spots we haven’t seen yet.

Aslan’s My Homeboy writes: “Just thought I would tell you guys so that you can keep a look out there is a new tv spot I saw it on abc family it was all about Lucy and her insecurity and at the beginning of the commercial it shows Lucy trying to copy what another woman is doing that she sees. It also has Aslan talking to her possibly after she takes the page with the beauty spell I couldn’t make out every thing he was saying though. I haven’t seen the tv spot online yet so I though I would give you guys a heads up to keep a look out.”

Caspian XI writes: “My brother and I saw this NEW Dawn Treader tv spot with a couple of new shots!! There was a shot of Dragon Eustace grabbing Edmund… then a bunch of other shots from the trailers, and then there’s this scene where Caspian and the crew were holding spears, reading to throw them at the sea serpant, and Caspian yelled, “READY…. NOW!!!” or something like that.”

If you see these TV Spots and manage to record them or find them online, please send them to us!
