C.S. Lewis’s Favorite Pub Being Refurbished

The Eagle and Child, the Oxford pub frequented by C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Williams, will be getting refurbished to include seven hotel rooms. The project is scheduled for completion in 2018. Read more.

Work-in-progress versions of books like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Lord of the Rings were read aloud in this pub by members of the Inklings. A plaque on the wall reads: “The conversations that have taken place here have profoundly influenced the development of 20th century English literature.”

Well, I know where I'm staying if I ever have the chance to visit Oxford!

*a NOTION – from one narnia fan down in the Pacific region, when there can be still a possibility.

Give the director chair for the upcoming Silver Chair upcoming movie to Mel Gibson, he will do it well.

    Well, Consider Mel Gibson:
    1. He can bare christian themes (extremely)
    2. He can make GREAT movies in just low budget.
    3. He got this UNIQUE style and has good experience.
    4. He got very high imagination – Narnia was written in high imagination.
    5. Image the Aslan he will bring into the stage: the voice, the shot, and the power.
    6. Gibson’s best is the clarity of any messages he can bring in a movie: casts, score, visual, and deep soulful lesson. Imagine Aslan appearance moment without having to said anything, Gibson will definitely create the feel, you know.

If you are agree with me, please promote my idea to the team and the studio to address Mr. Gibson. I’m just hoping for the best Narnian film to produce, not another insufficient adaptation

Interesting idea! You should consider signing up on NarniaWeb forum; we've got a thread for discussing who should direct The Silver Chair. 🙂

Sorry 'The Rose-Tree Dryad' but I have a very short suppliant of internet and connection for I live down in the South Pacific in the lowly island of Tonga. And for that i can't join you guys. I may not even have another chance for internet for the next 6 month. lol! But because the time is short for choosing the director, just get the idea across to as many as you can and let see if the team and the studio will consider. Press it no further if it be denied.

    Here are other points:

The ‘Passion of the Christ’, ‘Apocalypto’, ‘Braveheart’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, were movies seems as they were real historical features themselves. For Mel to create narnia will be something as real but also deeply magical.

All Gibson film had never reach $50 million, and YET he made his movies far better than most big budget movies. Hacksaw Ridge was done with just $20 million US dollar, which was beforehand exchanged into Australian $40 million for a beef up. $20 MILLION US DOLLAR FOR REASON SAKE!!

Gibson like to stay true to the original story especially when it is a good one. An for the acting casts, Mel can bring out the best in people to act – Consider ‘Apocalypto’, all the actors and actresses in it had never even had any acting role or career before, ever.

And best of all, Gibson always hired the right people, casting to filming to editing – he said it himself. I see no better choice then Mel.

I am a real fan of Lewis narnia: It literally inspired me, even now. By now, we have pass expectation, what we hold now to is hoping that this new team can handle the level of narnian story.

Hopefully you will promote the idea (as a true fan to a true fan).

I do believe in Gibson’s talent, looking at his works of directing and the also it result; that he can bring us ‘that’ narnian cinematic thrill)
