Narnia Promotion at Cornerstone Festival 2005

Posted July 6, 2005 2:45 pm by Tirian

We received this report from NarniaWeb spy Paige: At the conclusion of my 11th year at Cornerstone Festival, an annual several-day-long outdoor Christian music festival, I remarked that going back to the “real world” felt like coming out of the wardrobe. Somehow it has always seemed as if I spent half the year at Cornerstone and the other half in my normal life, while really Cornerstone only takes a week for my family (including traveling time). as if Cornerstone has a separate time of its own. This year Cornerstone was more fun than ever, not just because the weather was a little cooler than the usual Illinois July, but also because we were treated to tantalizing promotions for the upcoming Narnia movie. A booth in one of the Exhibition Tents invited people to fill out a short survey (with questions like “How old are you?” and “How many books do you read in a year?” as well as some Narnia Trivia), giving complementary T-shirts to the first 500 to fill it out. My navy-blue T featuring Aslan’s eyes and the words “Aslan is on the move” fills me with the giddy joy of anticipation. Some of the same banners that fans have seen already (from convention promotions) stood beside the booth, as well as an actual lamppost that filled my heart with glee. At the back of the booth stood a TV showing the trailer and the Behind the Magic videos from the official website. A smaller screen on a table at the front of the booth was accompanied by video game controllers. “Oooh, game demo!” I lost my friends in the crowd because, frankly, at that moment fighting off wolves on a frozen lake was more important. Next to the Narnia booth itself was the table for Zondervan, a Christian publishing company which had a drawing for giveaways including sets of the Chronicles of Narnia. On top of all of this fun and excitement, several thousand fans of Christian rock had the pleasure of seeing the preview for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe nightly between bands on the huge screen at the Main Stage venue. It sent chills of excitement down my spine every time. Thanks Paige!

’Hero’ by Bethany Dillon

Posted July 3, 2005 9:47 am by glumPuddle

NarniaWeb spy BerninBush attended Creation Music Festival this week and saw Bethany Dillon perform her song “Hero,” which will be on the “Inspired By Narnia” soundtrack this September! Here is the report: I didn’t have anything to write with (*blush*) and didn’t get down all the lyrics, but it’s called “Hero” and the refrain is “You are the Hero we’ve been waiting for/ You have done the impossible.” It was a lovely song, and I’m looking forward to hearing it on the soundtrack. After that one was done, she told us that her next song had been inspired by the chapter in The Magician’s Nephew where Aslan sings the world into being. The song is called “New” and I absolutely loved it, but the lyrics were too complicated to remember easily. (Parts of it did remind me of the part where Aslan weeps for Digory’s mother.) I think this song is going to appear on her next album in August, which I will definitely think about buying now. Thanks to BerninBush for the report! View Track Listing

Rough Cut Over 3 Hours?

Posted June 22, 2005 2:32 pm by Clipsie

The following report was posted by Cpt Kirks 2pay on the AICN Messageboards. We should say right now that there is no way we can verify any of this, so take this with a pretty big grain of salt: I Have Seen It… Well a rough cut of it anyway. My sister works for Disney Marketing as that involves me with a lot of her colleagues and me with my own film productions and freelance I do for other companies to, I was allowed to view an early ’draft’, as they called it, which was shown to a select audience at their screening room. The final running time thus far clocks in at 3 hours 7 minutes. So far, the acting is pretty strong and makes for some intense and mesmerising scenes, which is what my main concern was. The characters, their arc, and some incredible and even scary dramas they go through works in a grounding and affecting way. Aslan’s own encounter with his fate without spoiling anything, is extremely powerful. Won’t give away anything else, as I don’t wanna get too hounded or in trouble, but let’s just say that everything is extremely well made. It’s a film of solid quality, and reaches moments of majestic at times. Hope they keep all the best bits in when the final cut is done. We must hope. Thanks to Stormygirl for sending this in!
