3D Narnia Poster Reported

Posted September 23, 2005 10:54 am by Tirian

Doug from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada reports seeing a 3D Narnia poster in the lobby of the Silver City Cinema. This 3D poster is technically referred to as “lenticular”. The plastic coating is actually hundreds (thousands) of tiny vertical lenses. Three or more pictures taken from different angles corresponding to the distance between one’s eyes, are “sliced” by a computer and reassembled so that when you view the poster each eye sees a different picture. Keep your eyes peeled for this new poster and thanks to Doug for his sharp eyes and excellent explanation.

Other Films Marketing Through Churches

Yahoo.com has a great article about Hollywood marketing films though churches. In addition to Narnia, other films like “The Greatest Game Ever Played” are also being marketed to churches. Here’s a clip: Disney is counting on Christian audiences to boost its “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” The film, based on the C.S. Lewis book, is a big-budget fantasy epic and the first in a series Disney hopes will rival the popularity of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Some Christians interpret the book — a staple of children’s literature — as an allegory in which the hero, the lion Aslan, represents Jesus Christ. Read the full story here. (Discuss!) The film will mix live action and photo-real CGI animation and is the unlikely bonding tale of a cranky old tortoise in India who at first tolerates the baby hippo because it is a chick magnet, but develops patriarchal feelings and takes the baby on a dangerous journey home to Africa.
