Time Magazine: Book vs Movie

Posted November 30, 2005 12:00 pm by fantasia_kitty

From Time.com: Ask any reader who has seen the movie version of a favorite novel, and the answer will usually be, “The book was better.” That’s because readers of a novel have already made their own perfect movie version. They have visualized it, fleshed out the locations and set the pace as they either zipped through the book or scrupulously savored every word. Click here to read Time magazine’s comparison of the Narnia book to movie. Thanks to Brett for sending this in.

Lewis Opposed to Narnia Film?

Posted November 29, 2005 1:03 pm by glumPuddle

CNN has a short article about CS Lewis sharing his thoughts on the possability of Narnia film before he died. He approved of a radio series and perhaps a cartoon, but not a live-action film. Lewis wrote: “Anthropomorphic animals, when taken out of narrative into actual visibility, always turn into buffoonery or nightmare — at least with photography. Cartoons would be another matter. A human, pantomime, Aslan would be, to me, blasphemy.” If only Lewis could have seen what can be done with CGI today! Read the full story here. Thanks to Rilian, Alynne, and Esther for the heads up!

Georgie Henley Interviewed at icWales

Posted November 28, 2005 8:36 am by Tirian

icWales has posted a great interview with Georgie Henley, who plays Lucy, in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. In the interview we learn that she was shocked by the “ripe” language of the grownups on set and organized a “potty mouth bucket”. Apparently James McAvoy was the worst offender and had to put four New Zealand dollars in the bucket. About acting, says Georgie: “I got a bit nervous at first and kept messing it up,” she blushes. “That’s why they did take after take after take. But the director told me they had to do it that way because then they could get lots of cuts,” she adds. Read the whole article at icWales. Thanks to KnightofGondor for the link.
