Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/2
Part of the genius of C.S. Lewis in his Narnia stories; was to infuse elements of mythology to his storytelling. In this poem, Night and Day are sisters who share providence over the Narnian skies. Each knowing that their reign over the sky must be shared with the other.
The Sisters of Night and Day.
A miracle on the horizon
A flash, that illuminates so bright
The Golden Goddess of the sunrise
Releases the morning with her light
An effortless wave of her kind hand
Bringing color back into the world
Narnia is given her blessing
Her rays of sunlight are unfurled
The Mistress who rules over darkness
Shields her face and covers her eyes
Aslan has limited her power
She shares the mystery of the sky
Narnia is now bathed with sunshine
Skies reveal themselves in powder blue
The green forests and blooming flowers
Are being nourished with morning dew
The mountains rise their heads in glory
Their snowy faces point to the sky
The Mistress of the Night, waits patient
She knows her sister, must surely die
The birds sing with joyful harmony
Tiny ballerina's in the breeze
They go out to feed their nesting young
Waiting for their mothers in the trees
Blades of grass growing in the meadow
Measure the shadows of what's to come
The Golden goddess bows down her head
They witness the dying of the sun
The Mistress who rules over darkness
Holds her twin sister with loving arms
Her beauty fades into memory
Her sister protecting her from harm
Night is spreading across the landscape
Her enchantment fills Narnia's skies
Orange and purple come together
Tree owls are opening up their eyes
Flowers go into hibernation
The song of the night sings them to sleep
And they will dream about tomorrow
Memories of today they will keep
Night unveils her cloak or darkness
Releasing her treasures to the sky
And a sea of glittering diamonds
Will shine, untill dawn brings back her light
I welcome any and all comments.

I loved this poem, I don't know...
with the dawning of the day and the prayer, it just felt so peaceful to me while reading it.

Windsong wrote:The Deception of Miss. Lucy:
Maybe because it followed a poem I loved, but this one felt just alright.
It's well done, and decent, but it just pails in comparison to the previous.
I do love that part in the book/movie and your poem works well with it.
Windsong wrote:The End of the Beginning:
Great poem, I really did enjoy this one.

Windsong wrote:The Meaning of His Sacrifice:
Great job in showing the contrast between Aslan and Jadis.
One could sense her coldness and evilness while at the same time sense his love and wonderfulness.

Windsong wrote:The Silence Before The Sun:
Excellent work

Windsong wrote:The Lamentations of Mr. Tumnus:
The sequel, I loved it!! rather sad for Tumnus, but his determination to do what is right is beautifully told. Excellent job once again.

Imagine twilight skies as two young lovers walk together on the coastline. Hear the roar of the tides as the Daughter of Ramandu and King Caspian share an intimate moment before he continues his journey to the end of the world. {Mature subject matter...words with Romantic content. Please be advised.}
When Emotions Flood a Woman's Heart:
Hold me close to you...Caspian
And listen to the words I say
Let whisper them in your ear
It always sounds better that way
I hear seabirds in the distance
Singing their love songs to the sky
I hear the roar of the ocean
As I look deep inside your eyes
Hear my words as you feel my lips
Know that my intentions are true
You make me feel like a woman
And because of that, I love you
Your fingers discover my hair
And then find the curve of my hips
Our bodies are drawn together
As I feel the warmth of your kiss
I can see the love in your eyes
When you look deep inside of me
Within my heart, emotions flow
Like the wind calling to the sea
And when you hold me in your arms
I can feel your intensity
Open the window of my soul
Know that my love will be with thee
I know that you soon will leave me
You must continue on your quest
Journey beyond the horizon
I lean my head upon your chest
We watch the ending of the day
The sun is setting in the sky
A festive array of colors
My feelings of love, I can't hide
Let the stars guide your direction
As you sail the open sea
May the winds blow in your favor
I pray they'll bring you back to me
Let my heart be like a compass
Taking you to where you must go
Ride the crest to your destiny
May your ship sail with gentle flow
I pledge my heart and love to you
May we always share in our bliss
Return to me dear Caspian
Let us seal our love with a kiss
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/5
In the Last Battle, I find Puzzle to be a very sympathetic character. He is well intended, but easily manipulated by the gorilla, Shift. Who only has his own intrests in mind. When you read the poem, think about how Puzzle must be feeling; knowing he is doing something very wrong.
The Puzzle...That is Me:
Something strange is happening
And I don't know what to do
Guilty feelings in my heart
You could say I'm feeling blue
I'm locked inside this stable
And only let out at night
Is this the will of Aslan
I don't know if this is right?
Shift tells me not to worry
I'm too dumb to understand
I should do what I am told
All part of a secret plan
I know I lack in wisdom
Thinking complicates my mind
I am not intellegent
But I see an awful sign
I know that I'm not Aslan
Shift tells me I'm doing good
I give them inspiration
All the creatures of the wood
My heart is weighing heavy
I feel something very wrong
I wish I was like Aslan
Very brave and very strong
Like a fish out of water
Not knowing just what to do
I wait here in this stable
Believing in what's not true
Am I beyond redemption
For the things that I have done?
Unworthy of forgiveness
My fate, setting like the sun
For the pain inside my heart
Knowing what I do is wrong
While Shift eats his bananas
And singing his happy songs
I wish this game was over
As I pace across the floor
I should take off this carcass
I can't bear this anymore
But Shift would then be angry
He would tell me I was bad
I don't want to upset him
But inside, I'm feeling sad
If Aslan was here right now
I would get down on my knees
Pleading for Aslan's mercy
For both Shift, and also me
I welcome any and all comments.

I liked "The Puzzle".
Not a favorite because it's not quite as deeply layered as some of your other poems, but that's really a good thing since this is in Puzzle's point of view. You captured the character of Puzzle very well!
I must say the "Sisters of Night and Day" was a really beautiful poem. The descriptions, the flow, and the wording used were all amazing.

Excellent job with this poem. As I read and visualized, your words mixed with Lewis when he wrote "none of them ever made it..." You did and excellent job in making me feel exactly what CS Lewis made me feel when I read this event: Anger and Hate for those dwarfs. Murder indeed! (I still hoped later that they would turn from the evil they did)

you did fine, not one that I enjoyed much however.

Nice poem, her cruelty shows as it always does.

Great poem! the desire for restoration, and the current sense of hopelessness.

eternity, the hope of many like these narnians to dwell in peace forever. great job!Windsong wrote:The Tormented Soul on the Silver Chair:
Like the first poem I commented on, you did an excellent job in making me feel that which I felt for him through Lewis's own words. Sorrow and pity for this man who had to endure this for so long, and a father who lost time from his son even after already losing his wife.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/6
This is a poem of joy and sorrow. Imagine the Dryads; the mythical "spirits" that dwell in the wood of trees...meeting their end at the hands of Calormene Axe men. This is a poem dedicated to their memory.
Spirit Voices Crying in the Wind:
In the vast kingdom of Narnia
A land of rolling hills and streams
Crystal oceans in the distance
A land of magic and of dreams
Spirit voices of the forest
Taking the form of living trees
Their heads crowned in dark green colors
Like garlands, flowing in the breeze
They dance in peaceful harmony
These pleasant spirits of good cheer
With Aslan as their protector
These children had nothing to fear
They were here at the beginning
Mythical creatures of the wood
Brothers and sisters together
Representing all that is good
They would sway in silent movements
Under the rays of golden sun
They would watch the stars together
That's when they knew the day was done
Tranquility with all nature
In a state of eternal bliss
They would feel the raindrops on them
Just like a mother's gentle kiss
The dryads lived generations
Singing their voices to the sky
They will soon become the victims
Of Shift's cruel and distorted lies
The stars foretell of a danger
Of something never seen before
The end of peace and harmony
Narnia will soon be no more
There's a poison that is spreading
Like a cancer across this land
Dark ambitions now in motion
A game with complicated plans
The forests will be defiled
By cruel deception and a scheme
A cold sensation fills their hearts
Like a nightmare destroys a dream
Axe men come into the forests
Holding sharp weapons in their hands
Thrusting them deep into their souls
Innocent trees don't understand
Cries can be heard in the forests
Young birds die at their mother's side
Their killers pay no attention
As light fades away from their eyes
Brothers and sisters are screaming
As their loved ones fall to the ground
Their spirit voices are fading
Never again to make a sound
In panic and desperation
They whisper out their last goodbyes
And pray to their savior, Aslan
Asking for mercy as they die
Go out and find young Tirian
Tell our king what these men have done
They tell their surviving sister
Our lives are setting like the sun
A spirit finds her sovereign king
But the Axe men have done her harm
Her tears like a dying child
Being held in her father's arms
Who did this to the spirit trees?
Who are these messengers of death?
I will go find out the answer
I will take from them, their last breath
Jewel, we must ride to the forests
Many things I don't understand
How can these acts of cruelty
Be in the interests of Aslan?
The forests are now deserted
Affirming King Tirian's fears
The tree sap is crystal teardrops
Something unholy happened here
The spirit voices have left us
None of these children have survived
King Tirian bows down his head
As heavy tears fall from his eyes
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/8
This is a poem about Aslan and King Peter taking a morning walk through the enchanted forests of Narnia. There are words of wisdom that The Lion wishes to share with His young King. Imagine the soft light of the morning with a hint of a Autumn breeze and the sweet fragrance of morning dew that still kisses the grasses of the forest. Imagine this taking place sometime during the reign of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy from the LWW period.
To Walk In The Shadow Of The Lion:
{Voice of Aslan}
Come and walk with me King Peter
And Hear the words I have to say
Let us walk these ancient forests
As the dawn gives light to the day
{Voice of Aslan}
Know your responsibilities
The ones...I have given to you
For everything in Narnia
Is influenced by what you do
{Voice of Aslan}
In the forests of Narnia
Respect the creatures of the wood
Who just go about their business
They all work for the common good
{Voice of Aslan}
They are providing for the needs
For those who cannot help themselves
Like giving food to the helpless
And fresh water from the well
{Voice of Aslan}
They do this out of compassion
They know of the animals needs
For some will eat both fruits and grains
While others will eat only seeds
{Voice of Aslan}
For these kind and humble creatures
True charity has it's rewards
That is why you must protect them
With your kindness and with your sword
{Voice of Aslan}
To be a King of Narnia
You must respect all living things
From those who walk upon their hooves
As well as those who fly with wings
{Voice of Aslan}
And those who swim in the ocean
Who use their fins instead of legs
Those who grow inside their mothers
And also those who hatch from eggs
{Voice of Aslan}
When you feel how faith binds us all
Like the roots that are bound to trees
Let your faith flow like a river
Don't let it fade into the breeze
{Voice of Aslan}
Love your brother and your sisters
Only together, you are strong
Think when you make a decision
Always choose right instead of wrong
{Voice of Aslan}
Know, I will always be with you
All that I ask, is you believe
That in your moments of darkness
Know that faith will answer your needs
{Voice of Aslan}
Let us return to the others
Peter, look at the sky above
Remember...I am watching you
With both compassion and with love
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/9
This is a poem about personal and emotional loss. It is about a young Telmarine woman who walks on a lonely beach in the dark of night. She carries a lantern in her hand as she watches the ocean and can hear the sounds of the tides as it crashes against the shoreline. Looking out into the dark sea; these words of sorrow pour from her lips like wine would pour into a glass.
The Song Of The Dark Wine Sea:
In the dark of night
I walk the sandy beaches of the shoreline
Holding a lantern light
The ocean waters flow and pay no mind
Stars come into view
A crescent moon is watching from the sky
My thoughts return to you
My heart is heavy and I want to cry
A song calls out to me
I feel emotions deep inside my heart
The music of the sea
Reminds me that we'll always be apart
I ask the question, why?
I search the heavens with my tear filled eyes
I slowly start to cry
I dream my love was here now, by my side
Standing here with me
Holding hands, we would walk into the night
We'd look into the sea
We would share our love under the moonlight
Words he spoke to me
Of different places and of other times
His words, like poetry
Poured down calmly just like a honey wine
I nested in his arms
He kissed my hair and then he kissed my lips
Protecting me from harm
A feeling that I will forever miss
We said our last goodbyes
He kissed the crystal tears out from my eyes
Why did he have to die?
I stand alone and once again, I cry
He left to fight a war
Promising that he would return to me
What was he fighting for?
To live apart will be my destiny
My heart is filled with pain
The sound of the tides crashing on the shores
Emotionally I'm drained
My lover does not come here anymore
I will remember him
He was the man who shared his love with me
The lantern growing dim
My thoughts of love will never set me free
Now I'm all alone
All these sad emotions surrounding me
I turn and head for home
All he left was the song of the dark wine sea
I welcome any and all comments.

So sad yet beautiful at the same time! I enjoyed the structure and rhythm of this poem, it really helps in showing her thoughts and helps you feel her emotions better.
I loved how you portrayed her feelings of loneliness and sorrow. They were both really evident in the poem and a trace of those two emotions can be found in every line.
A bitter poem, but rich in beautiful structure and wording.
Bravo!

This is a poem about two young lovers; Aravis and Prince Cor who are sharing a kiss that is more than just an expression of the moment; it is given with the promise of their future together as a husband and wife.
Words of Love of What You Mean To Me:
Love is more than simple words
It is the sunrise in your eyes
The majesty of snow capped mountains
Touching the horizon of the sky
The waters of a mighty ocean
A vast green forest filled with trees
Sounds of little children playing
Their laughter carried in the breeze
A gentle touch of morning dew
Kissing flower petals in the Spring
Musical sounds of calling birds
And all the love songs that they sing
The grasses from rolling meadows
And amber fields of golden wheat
The hills wear coats of many colors
Their fragrance smells so very sweet
And then there is you Aravis
I am honored to hold your hand
For we are no longer children
You are a woman and I'm a man
Let us share our hearts as lovers
There's no one else I'd want for me
Your love gives hope for our future
Like the sun rising from the sea
May we always stay together
And when the seasons come and go
The stories we'll share with our children
Stories of love that must be told
Of how I fell in love with you
Or how you shared your love with me
What Aslan means to Narnia
And how our children can be free
Now all these words I share with you
I promise my love not to lie
May we always be together
I'll only leave you when I die
We both share in a lovers kiss
Know that the words I say are true
For you are the love of my life
My dear Aravis, I love you
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/12
Imagine a simple dinner and conversation turn into something more romantic. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver have been married for many years. But that does't mean the the flame of love has diminished.
To Fall in Love...All Over Again:
In a small and simple borough
That is located underground
Smoke rises from an opening
The wood fire makes a crackling sound
Misses Beaver making dinner
For her husband with loving care
Mixing all the ingredients
Her husband, sleeping in his chair
Bread is warming in her oven
Crafted from earthen brick and wood
She can hear her husband snoring
The aroma smells very good
Misses Beaver placing flowers
On the table where they will eat
She places the soup utensils
To her husband, she starts to speak
{Mrs. Beaver}
It will soon be dinner my dear
It's time you wake up from your nap
Would you mind taking out the garbage
And don't leave mud stains on the mat
{Mrs. Beaver}
Don't pretend that you are sleeping
I saw you open up your eyes
If you want to do the dishes
I suggest you take the trash outside
{Mr. Beaver}
Why would you think I was sleeping?
It is obvious, I'm awake
I will do as you requested
And I can smell the bread you bake
{Mrs. Beaver}
When you are finished with the trash
Fill both our cups with lemon tea
Now don't forget to wash your paws
I have something for you to see
{Mrs. Beaver}
Hot soup and a side of fresh nuts
Warm bread and butter we will eat
Now will you take out the garbage
I have for desert, something sweet
Collecting things to throw away
Mister Beaver does as he's told
Not wanting his bread to stale
Or have his bowl of soup turn cold
They lower their heads to worship
Mister Beaver speaks words in prayer
When he's finished, they start eating
On a table with little chairs
They converse about many things
The forest gossip of that day
How Misses Rabbit got worried
When her children ran off to play
As Misses Beaver is talking
Mister Beaver sipping his soup
He allows his mind to wander
Back to the days of their youth
He remembers when he met her
How beautiful she was to him
They would both walk in the forest
Watching the sun, till it grew dim
Now he recalls their wedding day
Under the cover of blue skies
Both he and his wife are older
But she has not changed in his eyes
She will always look as she did
Years ago on their wedding day
Misses Beaver interupts him
"Are you listening to what I say?"
Mister Beaver looks at his wife
In a way he used to before
She wonders what he is thinking
He didn't say anything more
He rises up from the table
And he looks deep into her eyes
He walks over to Misses Beaver
His love for her can't be denied
Carrying her over the threshfold
His paws touching the bedroom floor
She giggles just like a child
Mister Beaver closes the door
They've been married for many years
United from heaven above
Both Mister and Misses Beaver
Are still both very much in love
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/13
This is a poem from the point of view from a young Telmarine woman who waits for word of her lovers return. She knows that her lover has been sent to the forbidden forests, but that is all she knows. Imagine a young woman walking in a vineyard as the sun is setting. Then imagine the golden sunset while she is playing a mandolin to the sound of the ocean tides.
The Silent Song of A Woman's Tears:
The wind is blowing softly
On the vineyards near the sea
Standing in silent sorrow
Her hair flowing in the breeze
She holds it like a child
Her young lovers mandolin
She plays her music softly
He was more than just a friend
Her eyes explore the hillside
Grapes are growing on the vine
The ocean breeze is calling
She sips sweet vintage wine
She plays her music softly
Small fingers vibrate the strings
Words in silent harmony
A song of love she sings
In the service of Miraz
The tyrant we call our King
My love sent to the forest
What dark omen this does bring?
The stories of lost Legends
The forests have come alive
They say it's filled with monsters
Will my dearest one survive?
When I play the mandolin
It reminds me of his smile
The soothing sound of music
Played the traditional style
Loving kisses from the sun
Warming up the fertile vines
The grapes become impatient
Wanting to be made to wine
She picks the fruit of heaven
Little grapes inside her hand
They taste so very sour
She knows and understands
Why do men go out and kill
Why are our leaders so blind
Why must the glory of Kings
Be stained by the blood of wine?
Evening shadows are growing
The end of labors toil
She finishes her music
Her tears still kiss the soil
She waits now for her lover
But for now the night has come
Walking into the shadows
The mandolin's song is done
I welcome any and all comments.

Re: Poetry...From the Enchanted Forests of Narnia...Update 11/15
Picture a late afternoon as the sun is fading and long shadows begin to appear. In this poem, imagine young Lucy in her room reading a book when she receives an unexpected visitor.
The Hummingbird and the Autumn blossoms:
Outside my bedroom window
It is now late afternoon
The sky is losing color
A can see the evening gloom
A vase of Autumn blossoms
And a little hummingbird
Who enters through the window
Its flapping wings can be heard
The hummingbird seeks nectar
It watches me carefully
The daylight loses color
Hummingbird flies gracefully
Mischievious in nature
The hummingbird flies around
Enchanted by its colors
I try not to make a sound
I stare at it with wonder
A beautiful sight to see
Can that little hummingbird
Be a reflection of me?
I like to walk the forests
See the sunset of the sky
And just like that hummingbird
I am wishing I could fly
It is looking for nectar
In the blossoms that it sees
Tasting the precious nectar
I can feel the evening breeze
The nectar I am seeking
Is a gift from up above
A very special feeling
The emotion we call love
I find this love in Aslan
It's in the words that He speaks
Waiting for him to be here
His love in my heart I keep
The color softly fading
The hummingbird flies away
Just like these Autumn blossoms
I will see Aslan someday
And now that the little inquisitive hummingbird has left her room. Young Lucy smiles to herself and must now re-arrange her flowers again.
I welcome any and all comments.
