The Mysterious Little Girl Goes Overboard
Over the past two days we’ve seen pictures of a mysterious little girl aboard the Dawn Treader.
Tamara has posted what might be the most intriguing video we’ve seen from the filming of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader yet. In it is the mysterious little girl and a man we are quite sure is Rhince. Based on the video, we believe this to be “Gael” whom we first heard whispers about a couple months ago through a casting call. Apparently she sees her mother off in the distance and throws herself overboard with Rhince right behind her. Even though we've been following this story for a while now, i have even less and less clue about whats going on now than i did at the begining! lol.
I think we should call her “MLG” (Mysterious Little Girl) no matter what the production calls her. 😉
This will be interesting to see how this whole scene plays out, but hopefully this means that Lucy will remain the only girl onboard the Dawn Treader, can't wait to see more!
The question is "Who is she"? Is she a slave freed from Pug's hold? Is she a daughter of one of the Dawntreader crew? Is she a Telmerine? It's all so mysterious. I'm beginning to lean towards slave freed from Pug's hold. It would make sense if she is freed and then sees her mother and jumps to go and find her.
This is awesome! I'm going with her being a daughter of Rhince, maybe?
But what does the damaged railing have to do with it? That's the part that's confusing me the most.
The MLG is definitely the "Gael" character, you can hear Georgie shout her name, just after the MLG jumps.
Ahh, something to ponder till VDT comes out. Twill be interesting to discover who, what, when, where, and the why of this M(ysterious)L(ittle)Girl. With a nod to glumPuddle.
Omg! That was Soooooo cute!^^ Wait till my sister sees this! I think the production crew put it in to show that georgie is more grown up now because you don't really notice how people grow up ni movies if you watch sequal unless you watch it one by one. Anyway. Back to hyper mode!
My sister thought that the little centaure and the little village boy in Prince Caspain were so cute , but wait till she sees VDT or this she will freak.
I see what you mean….maybe the Dawntreader and Pug's ship fire at each other and banish the slavery that way. [Caspian is sold and frees Lucy and others ect. turns out the castle and Gumpas,secretly meets up with the Dawntreader along with Lord Bern who's wife has been captured (this makes the little girl Lord Bern's daughter) Rhince befriends her and when she sees her mother aboard the slave ship she jumps to find her and fearing for her life, Rhince follows to protect her. This would also explain all the armour. If it is a planned attack on the slave ship, they would all be armoured beforehand].
We could call Mysterious Little Gael!

Could this possibly have anything to do with Reep's jump into the sweetest waters he'd ever tasted? I know the article says she apparently saw her mother and jumped overboard, but just a theory.

Maybe they pick this girl up before they get to Narrowhaven, and she tells them her mother was captured by Pug, and they go to save her, and it helps lead the plot into the whole Narrowhaven/Pug/Gumpas/free the slaves part of the movie. It might help the flow. Just a theory. Hope it won't be an appalling deviation from the book. :S *crosses fingers*
Nice name but what is this Gael doing in the movie. The part when she jumps confused me a bit.

Georgie's costume is amazing! I think I'm going to make that one and where it to the movie theater on 12/10!
P.S. Everybody has very interesting theories on the MLG. I hope it doesn't change the plot too much! *bites lip*
Anyway, I don't see how I'm going to wait until next year for this movie. *cries*

Whoa what is goin? Who is Gael? Ok is she Rhince's or Bern's daughter I am confused. But gosh is she cute! I don't know how I am going to wait. I just don't know. Some people no names need to lighten up, be flexible. What is the matter if the movie is different? Enjoy it for what it is and don't compare it so much with the book. Personally I think the movies are better than the books, but that is just me. I think Pug captured her mom too. It's a good theory, but we'll have to see for sure in…a…year. *sniff* *cry* :'(

i figured too that she might be a daughter of a dawn treader crew member. perhaps Rhince has a daughter? he called the mother's name…i dont know, but this is really interesting.

this is interesting. it gives us something to think about. its so wierd to see her standing next to georgie, because georgie was once that young! look at her now! its so hard to think of her as that little girl lucy who opened a wardrobe and discovered a world! but anyway i think this is an interesting plot. i just hope they dont screw it up too much just by adding a little girl. hm, i wonder what that rail is doing broken? they better not make this too much of a battle movie! i dont mind a little, but not too much!
I thought maybe she was Bern's daughter initially, but everyone was saying she was Rince's daughter. I had to look up who Rince was because i wasn't even sure (VotDT is not one of my favorites) who that was. I think it makes a lot more sense for it to be Burn's daughter.
It is highly possible that they will change the order of the islands they visit. It is also possible that islands will be cut. We just don't know enough yet.
i agree with you, mirima. its just that some people are really serious about keeping a movie close to a book. but people, you have to realize, movies cant always be perfect, and this is a business, its not just something to be made to entertain people. sometimes they have to go to certain lengths to reach different audiences in order to make money. thats where everything comes down to: money. i think we should all be appreciative that they are all working hard to make this for us, even when they had the choice not to, and love the movie for what it is. as long as the spirit of Narnia is there, thats all that matters. we should be supporting the cast and crew for their hard work and effort put into this, not scolding them for a little change.

The only problem with that is they aren't making little changes. They are big changes.

OK,this is odd. I don't mid aditions,per say,but not if it's taking away from the story.
On Lucy having a sword. No,it's no cannon,but as long as she isn't using it in battle,but only has it for extra protection/status,I really don't mind her having one.
As for Geal,perhaps it's pronounced like the Elvish EA Ge-al. more Narnian sounding. Not sure how it's going to work out in the movie,but she's an adorible MLG(Love that term,GP!),and that dress she's wearing is awesome.
Well, this is a very interesting turn of events. I don't think I'll mind what they do with this MLG, as long as it doesn't completely deviate from the original plot.
Are we sure that's Rhince? His clothing looks more like the Narrowhaven costumes than the Dawn Treader outfits. I think I'm going with the slavery possibility. It's all very interesting… can't wait to see what it's all about!
And, yes, I have to agree with most of you…MLG is really cute (I'm pretty sure she's "Gael", going by what Georgie shouts in the video), and Georgie has grown up a lot. I'm very excited to see how the third movie in the series turns out!
I can't imagine that they would give Lucy a sword and then not let her use it.

But seriously…….I have no idea now how this whole thing is going to turn out. I sure wish they would just stick to the book. I like Lilyput90's explanation the best though, even if it is a big change from the book……They better leave the whole Gumpas scene in there though…I love the humor there!

Thanks Lucy the Valiant! I am only speculating though, It may be something else entirely. My theory is based on the evidence of everyone in armour, the MLG, and the bashed railing on the Dawntreader. To me the only reason everyone would be in armour is because THEY planned the battle, otherwise they wouldn't know about it to ready their armour and weapons. This leads me to think that they are perhaps attacking the slave ship. Since Lucy and Edmund are there I think that the overturning of Gumpas in Narrowhaven must have already taken place perhaps with Caspian and Lord Bern freeing all the slaves in the market. I think that it's possible that Pug takes off to try and preserve his livelihood, heading for Carlomen or something. They all realise that the MLG's mother is still aboard the slave ship and the Dawntreader pursues with a bit of cannon fire from both sides. Then spying her mother the MLG jumps over to try and get to her and Rhince (or whoever that is) trys to save the MGL. This is the summary of my theory so far.
I could spend hours thinking and come up with some elaborate theory concerning MLG, but what good would it do? I mean, we can theorize all we want, but we're really not going to know the whole truth until the movie comes out. Let's not waste time freaking out over this when it could just be a small change that ends up making a better movie. Don't get me wrong, it COULD be a bad change, but we just don't know enough to say for certain.
I was watching Amazing Grace the other day. I thought it was a very well done movie, and it makes me have more faith in Michael Apted. To turn a book into a movie, there are some changes that HAVE to be made. I'm not saying this is one of them, but I think that in the end, we'll end up liking it, whatever it is. So please stay positive!

NO WAY? That is way too dogmatic. The main theme of the story that was so important to Lewis is "Longing." This may be an addition made to emphasize that theme. There is insufficient evidence to make a judgment at this time though.

it sounds like the Rhince character called out "Elaine" I could be wrong but that's what it sounded like. I don't know who that is. It's been a long time since I read VDT and I don't remember details… so I honestly don't remember if this MLG was in it. I don't really mind as long as they don't change TOO much. =)

I agree daughter of the King, little changes are okay, but big ones are inexcusable. And narnian resident, the spirit of Narnia wasn't there in PC, so we can only hope that it will be there in DT.
