Opening shot in Cambridge with recruitment posters

Recruitment Officer: Are you sure you’re 18?

Edmund: Why, do I look older?

Lucy: Edmund, you’re supposed to be helping me with the groceries.

Other boys in line: [laughter] Good luck next time eh squirt?

Outside of the recruitment building Edmund and Lucy load up their groceries on a bicycle

Edmund: Squirt! I’m a king.

Lucy: Not in this world.

20th Century Fox Logo and the Walden Media Logo

In the Scrubb household, Edmund and Lucy study a painting of an ocean with a tiny ship sailing on it

Edmund: Lucy, have you seen this ship before

A closeup of the painting and the waves are starting to roll and on one side a tiny trickle of water forms

Lucy: It’s very Narnian looking isn’t it?

In the same bedroom, all of a sudden the painting starts gushing water into the room and Edmund, Lucy and Eustace look dumbfounded

Eustace: What’s going on here?

Lucy: Edmund the painting!

Eustace yells and pulls it off the wall. Edmund and Lucy try to help, but water is rapidly filling the bedroom. Lucy screams and falls and suddenly the room is completely underwater with furniture floating around. They swim upwards towards the surface and just as they reach it and gasp for air Lucy turns and sees the Dawn Treader sailing towards them.

Lucy: Edmund!

Caspian and Lucy are hoisted out of the water onto the ship. Lucy, now in Narnian clothes looks into a mirror and sees her reflection and Aslan looking back at her.

Lucy: Aslan.

Aslan: Welcome. You have come far, but your journey lies beyond.

A shot of the Dawn Treader sailing away from an island at sunset. A shot of a minotaur on board as well as a couple crew members in the background. A shot of Lucy and Edmund standing on deck wrapped in blankets.

Lucy: Reepicheep!

Reepicheep bows.

Reepicheep: Your majesties!

A shot of a mermaid swimming in the water next to the ship. She waves and Lucy waves back.

Edmund: So if there are no wars to fight, then why are we here?

Caspian walks through a door followed by Edmund and someone else. Edmund looks through a spyglass. A shot of an island surrounded by fog. A shot of Coriakin magically throwing a map across the floor.

Coriakin: You are all about to be tested.

A shot of Eustace peeking through something. Smoking tendrils surround the ship and head towards the crew members. One in particular heads towards Edmund.

White Witch: Edmund, I can make you my king.

A vision of the White Witch

White Witch: And much more.

Lucy blows across the cover of the Magician’s Book and the letters on the front of it arrange into The Book of Incantations. She opens it. She sees a reflection of herself on one page and then begins to transform into Susan.

Lucy: I’m beautiful.

Lucy hears a lion roar and jumps away from the book as pages quickly turn away from the page. Next shot is Lucy standing in the Magician’s room as snow is falling all around her. She gazes up in wonder.

Coriakin: You have an extraordinary destiny.

Reepicheep quickly climbs up the mast of the Dawn Treader where he reaches the crow’s nest and looks out smiling.

Coriakin: Something greater than you could have imagined.

Narrator: From C. S. Lewis’ epic masterpiece…

Shot of the crew aboard the Dawn Treader with Drinian at the helm. Shot of what is likely Narrowhaven. Shot of Lilliandil glowing beautifully.

Lilliandil: The fate of Narnia depends on you.

Narrator: This Christmas…

Edmund holds Rhindon in his hand. It’s glowing blue. Lilliandil turns back into a star and shoots into the heavens while Caspian, Edmund, and Lucy look on.

Narrator: Return to Hope

Shot of a faun doing a flip in Narrowhaven and kicking someone. Shot of Lucy aboard the Dawn Treader about to fire an arrow.

Narrator: Return to Magic

In the magician’s study, suddenly where he was once invisible, Coriakin turns around with a book in his hand. Shot changes to the Dufflepuds bouncing around on one foot with Eustace standing in the middle of them looking dumbfounded.

Chief Dufflepud: This place just gets weirder and weirder.

Narrator: Return to Narnia

Shot of Caspian, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, and Reepicheep paddling a rowboat through the sea of lilies. Shot of Aslan standing on dry ground next to Caspian, Edmund, Eustace, Lucy, and Reepicheep while holding back a wave.

Aslan: You have returned for a reason. Your adventure begins now.

Shot of Peter. Shot of Susan. Shot of Lucy. Shot of Edmund. Aslan standing on the shore roars.

End credits. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader form out of spiked rocks and then turn into the well known logo with the Dawn treader seen sailing in the background between snowy mountains. Christmas. 3D.

Narrator: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Directed by Michael Apted. This December in Digital 3D.

    Now Sam, be calm.
Scribe is simply being who a scibe must be, analytical.
    Details, details, etc.
Once off the chest, one can sit back and enjoy the story as is.

  2. Lutra's Pearl says:

I like his roar at the end. I thought they did a really bad job at it in the first two. It was not strong enough at all, this time seemed better. Keep the story of Aslan alive!!!

  3. aravis tarkeena says:

I am quite happy about some of the things. In the book I was very worried about how they would put the sea of lilies and especially the dufflepuds, but they have done a great job. The dufflepuds look great. One thing I'm worried about is whether Ed's glowing sword is because of the white witch or RD. If it's the witch, great, exciting scene. IF it's RD, than I'm not so happy.

  4. Reep13 says:

    I know right?

  5. caspian fan says:

its called a teaser trailer gosh. i mean just
remember how weird the pc trailer was and it turned out fine
    when trailer 2 came out.

  6. Shi of Narnia says:

Why did it say the Chief Dufflepud said "This place just gets weirder and weirder"? I thought that was Eustace! Did anyone else think so?

  7. Omac the centaur says:

then no offense taken. 🙂 however i do long 4 the sounds of battle again.

  8. josh says:

I did notice that Aslan looked a little of toward the begginning but im not that woried. they will probably work more on him. I am excited beyond descrption for this film but i was dissappointed aboout the lack of reality in the special effects. they look a little cheap but im hoping it is because they are not finished with the film. Also, one of the biggest letdowns is the size of the waterfall. I pictured it being connected to the ocean, not sitting on the land. And i pictured it towering into the sky. It looks very small to be the enterance into Aslan's Country. The Dufflepuds looked a litte cheaply done also but again ts probably because they arent finished.

  9. Weapon Master says:

OMG!OMG!OMG! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS! This looks absolutely spectacular! There was even a scene where Lucy was using Susan's bow! I don't know whether or not to give credence to all of the plot changes I've been hearing about (and rather less inclined to listen to people who have blown them out proportion), but however the movie turns out, I'm sure it will be amazing.

  10. Aspen says:

Okay, Why is the White Whitch in there? How about the dragon? Where is it? Why doesn't it have Prince Caspian in there more? I got to se him once! I really didn't like seeing Peter & Susan in there! They aren't suppost to be there at all!!!!! Who where they fighting? I don't remember any battles? Don't Edmund, Lucy, and Caspian get captured and sold as slaves? When does that happen? Any ideas? Thanks!

  11. I_LiVe_iN_NarNia:P says:

I like how they've done Lucy's hair in this 🙂 Especially for the bit in the magician's house, which you can see as the picture for the tailer up there ^^. I love how they've done it for the bit when she's stood next to Aslan aswell. I only hope that she gets to wear some good old Narnian dresses though 🙂 xx

  12. I_LiVe_iN_NarNia:P says:

I think the White Witch is there for the bit when they sail into the darkness to the island where dreams come true, although the White Witch isn't in the book, this does kinda make sense because Edmund probably had dreams/nightmares about her in the past, which are now coming true.

As for the fighting bit, I thought maybe they had made the tiny bit in the book where a glamian ship of pirates tried to overhaul them into a bigger scene? I just remember the book saying something like, there was some shooting of arrows on both parts and in the shot of Lucy shooting an arrow, you can see from the background that she's on the Dawn Treader. But the fighty bit in the town place, I have no idea. Narrowhaven possibly?

I don't know about the other stuff, maybe they just left some of it out because they thought it would confuse non Narnia fans.

  13. Momma D says:

Wow I can't wait, I have watch these four grow. Awesome preview. Well done thy good and faithful servant.

  14. Carolina says:

There's a battle in the castle of one of the alone islands..

    excuse me for my english..

  15. NeverTwiceSaysAslan says:

HOORAY for the trailer release!!!! but i want to know where Eustace the dragon is, and they hardly showed human Eustace at all. Caspian was barely in there. And the seven lords!!!! not a word about them!! also, what was the fighting scene? and why are peter and susan in there walking around? i hope that the little part about edmund wanting to be a soldier because he is a king part does no mirror peters stupid ego problem in PC. that was an annoying aspect of the film. im super excited…but a bit worried that it won't follow the book…it cannot be like PC

  16. Puddleglum says:

    Wait for the Last one.

  17. xavier taylor says:

the film looks great realy great

  18. QueenLucy12 says:

    haha!

  19. Not Of This World says:

The fight is at Narrowheaven in the Lone Islands probobly. I hope they are attacked by pirtes though 🙂

  20. QueenLucy12 says:

yeah I have to agree with you on that one

  21. Diana says:

I think that Aslan brings back Susan and Peter at the end to tell all four of the children at once that he is known by a different name in their world. However, I could be completely wrong.

  22. I_LiVe_iN_NarNia:P says:

Yeah I was wondering why Peter and Susan are there aswell :/ and i was trying to work out what's behind them, cos it's like red board thingys? Any ideas? xxx

  23. Omac the centaur says:

I shall. they SHOULD have some centaurs at the stable. and maybe a minotaur also. r u marshwiggles any good at fighting?

  24. Omac the centaur says:

ya I liked his roar better this time to. CANT WAIT 4 THE MOVIE!! whoops, there i go yelling again. lol 😉

  25. Omac the centaur says:

    @stephanie:
he does think that he is superior to Caspian at goldwater, until asland comes. but yes, i would be so mad if they did that to him to. >:(

  26. Haggith Tarkheena (trying to think of new name) says:

Ahhhhhhh. . .That movie looks good. To me at least. My sisters arn't so sure about it.

We just got home from seeing Toy Story 3 (GOOD movie by the way! Made me cry! 🙁 ) and the trailer wasn't their!!!! Probably just for the 3D one. That just sucks. . .Anyways, were home now, and I had to watch the trailer here on my sister's laptop. I think they did good on it. A little short, but, it was still really good. I mean, how many of you think that it looked good, because the movie is supposed to sorta peaceful. But I do like action in a good movie of course! I think, besides the fakeness of Aslan, Reepicheep, and the Dawn Treader, the movie is still going to be good. I hope. And, Aslan sounds so ecouraging, and hopeful, he just makes me feel light. Sorta like God. 🙂

BUT, Narnia fans, you should NEVER EVER EVER expect too much. Because you NEVER know if a movie isn't going to be all that great. 🙂
I like Reepicheep! And Aslan looks pretty cool too. Skandar and Georgie grew up so much. . .

  27. Haggith Tarkheena (trying to think of new name) says:

And the Dawn Treader looks so BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  28. Puddleglum says:

I cannot recall the exact reference, (if someone has a Bible handy?), but there is the verse that says that if we resist the devil, he will flee. That does not mean that he will leave us alone permanantly.
If the witch represents evil, or the devil, in the books then it stands to reason that she re-appears at times to tempt. Even if it is in a dream.

  29. Puddleglum says:

I must admit I am not much with a sword, and find sharp object more suitable for whittling . Though we do have some marginal skill with the bow. You have to be to get an eel, as they tend to be rather evasive.
But I guess in a pitched battle you would do best counting on an elf, or faun as I would most likely shoot myself in the foot.

  30. Omac the centaur says:

no doubt ur foot has had enough painfor its lifetime. well, we can count on u for the food then. 🙂

  31. Brian Boozier says:

Wow. The beginning was super awkward with the forced attempt at humor. "But I'm a King!"?? I get it…but man…that's painful. Unfortunately, it also seems Georgie's acting skills have diminished with time – "Edmund – the picture". And the special effects clearly show they're on a tight budget. Sorry guys, I'm a doubter after this. I loved the book. It's my favorite in the Chronic. I also thought the Caspian film was better than the Wardrobe. This one just doesn't look very promising. I really hope the movie is better than this trailer. Otherwise, it won't last long at the box office. Thoroughly disappointed…(I better be wrong)

  32. thyservant says:

I don't believe that Peter and Susan will appear in reality during the voyage in Narnia cause' at the end of Prince Caspian, it is very clearly said that they won't come back to Narnia.

  33. thyservant says:

I do appreciate the idea that the White Witch will appear in all seven movies. That makes things clearer. Perhaps she can transform into the monster in the Last Battle…

  34. luis alfredo says:

    esta muy bueno el trailer!!!!!!!!

  35. lucyrocks17 says:

Ok I have to admit there are some things I'm not sure about but… overall I LOVED
IT!!!!!!!! I can't wait for it to come out!!! =) I got to see it in the theaters when I went to see Toy Story 3 ahh i freaked!!! But now I just can't to see the actual movie!!!!! This movie looks awesome and it might be better with fox than disney I don't know I was heartbroken when I found out diney was dropping out but now after the trailer maybe this change was for the better.

  36. SoapySophia says:

Scene with Edmund enlisting: lol! Soooo Ed! But, as others have said, it reminds me of Peter and Susan in PC. This goes either way for me. They could use this to make the movie work, or they could ruin the movie by making Ed like Peter in PC.

Painting bringing them to Narnia: Looove it! The book didn't explain this part very well for me, this really brings it to life!

I don't really like how they're hauled onto the ship though. Caspian's supposed to jump–in–the–water!!!

Reep is sooo cute! So much more himself. And, yes, Ed is still flailing about on the deck behind Reep!

Caspian: it still irritates me that he's not blonde, but he looks much older with that hair on his face!

The magician saying that everyone is going to be tested: um, another either way part for me. they could make this work, or they could ruin the movie.

Dark Island: Why is it green? And why in the world are they using the White Witch again?!?!?! Get over her already!

Magician's room: I pictured this room less elaborate. It's so – – grand. Also, Lucy being "beautified" isn't really all that much more beautiful. She just looks like Susan. And she tore the page out!?!?!?! And why is it snowing!??!?!?! I'm lost. Looks too much like LWW.

And WHY does the FATE of NARNIA depend on them?!?!?!?!?! It's NOT SUPPOSED TO!!!! And why is she blue?

Why are they fighting? Why is Ed's sword blue?

Is it just me, or is Caspian and Reep with Lu and Ed and Eustace when Aslan talks to them? What's up with that?

And what's with the scene that is reminiscent of LWW, with all four Pevensies together? The older two seemed sad. And Susan is supposed to desert Narnia.

I guess this trailer raises too many questions for me. But I love the intense animation, Aslan's roar, the sea of lilies, Reep, and the ship (though it seems like it could be a touch bigger). I guess it's hard for me to not be so critical when this is my favorite book!

  37. Susan the Gentel says:

Yes! That's exactly how i feel. The only thing about magic that worries me is if they over do the part about the 7 swords and make that too magical and unbelievable.

  38. WillowofNarnia says:

WOW! AMAZING!! EXTRAORDINARY!!! *pant, pant* I have watched it so many times in only the last hour or so. It is so cool! I wish Caspian had said something so we can hear his Britishness instead of his Spanishness, but oh well. What were Susan and Peter doing in Narnia?????? I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. Aslan is Back says:

The White Witch is not necessarily "dead"…just beaten. If she represents the devil, which is what I believe C.S. Lewis intended, then God continually beats Satan, but does not destroy him, yet. I believe that will happen in the "end times" like it says in Revelation. Therefore the Witch may very well keep popping up in the other stories(hopefully-one-day-movies), like the Enchantress in SC.
The Witch appearing to Edmund in dreams to tempt his ego seems very likely as well.
As for Edmund being too focused on power, like Peter in PC, it actually is in the book. That is what the magician means when he says that they will all be tested…Edmunds test is his hunger for power and authority. Most younger brothers seem to want this…remember, Peter was not supposed to be power crazy in PC:)

  40. WillowofNarnia says:

Caspian was in the trailer more than once. Believe me, I am a BIG Caspian fan and I watched closely. He has his back turned most of the time though. 🙁

  41. vince519 says:

It looked to me as though Lucy was seeing Aslan in the magician's book which would mean he was supposed to look "illustrated".

  42. vince519 says:

Scratch that. I think they are looking out a window. I don't really think Aslan looks so weird though.

  43. Lilprincessofthelion says:

I really like the White Witch being in as long as she's just in the Island of Dreams. I think they can make it work very nicely.

  44. elanor says:

I know what you mean. And while I think I'm going to love the whole direction they are taking this movie, the trailer seemed a little awkward and choppy.

But I wouldn't judge it yet! Wait a little longer. This is the first teaser trailer. They probably just pieced together what they had to try and make it work. The music will most likely be totally different, the effects much better, the talking smoother in connection with the picture, and the lines not so cheesy in the context of movie as it develops. Just wait and see! Don't give up yet. 🙂

  45. Authiel Saethwr says:

Ditto everything you said. Can't they get over the White Witch, Peter, and Susan already? Face it; they're not in the story anymore. I think it's going to be a cool movie, and I'm not real nervous yet, but I'm not as excited as I was with LWW or even PC. PC the book is kinda boring; it needed help. VDT does not. There's already enough packed in there:) And I so wanted to see the dragon! Oh, well. I'm forcing myself to stick to trailers only. I watched too many sneek scenes last time:)

  46. Werner Ridgeback says:

Hmm, this trailer is certainly the most discussion raising of all the ones previous.

For me, the first 54 seconds were very cool, but after that everything goes downhill. I loved the way the new minotaur looks, and the way the kids enter Narnia was awesome!

But what is with the corny White Witch scene? Is the “Dark Island” actually a light green fog? Really guys, I was expecting something more creepy.

Where is Eustace, isn’t this story supposed to be more about him?

Is Lucy actually blowing the letters into place on the book of spells cover? Come on, this belongs in more in Inkheart, not Narnia.

The land of the Dufflepuds looks like a scene out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Is that Caspian at the edge of the world? I thought Aslan told him to turn back…

Also, why are Peter and Susan there? In Prince Caspian Aslan said they could never return, didn’t he?

And finally the trailer’s score put me to sleep. Where is the heart pumping, adrenaline rushing push I get from watching other trailers?

My final note is that I had high expectations when Fox took the Narnia franchise, I was looking forward to an amazing 20th Century quality epic based on more a teen angle, but after watching this trailer it feels like Fox has switched audiences and is hoping to reach more of the pre teen ages.

If this trailer is going to try to get me to spend 18 bucks to watch this, I need to see a better made assemblage.

  47. HisWarrior says:

Agree everything said here. I would like Lucy to be more beautiful than Susan. That's how it is in the original story. She doesn't become as beautiful, but more beautiful.

The White Witch. Why do we have her in here again? I like the Prince Caspian add-in with her because it showed how Edmund had changed. It also was not far off for her to be there because in the book it mentions her being summoned. But why in this one? Why here?

And what is it with another "you are the only ones that can save Narnia" deal? It can honestly get boring if this is the only thing you ever know about Narnia. Having to save it again.

Peter and Susan. I'll admit that I like the idea of seeing Peter again. As in quick look at the beginning. What is the deal with him in Narnia clothes? I'm hoping it's just a memory or something. And Susan? She's supposed to be in America at this moment.

Mixed feeling and getting excited and nervous at same time.

  48. Abren says:

Your happy that she will be there? Really? Doesn't that seem repititious just a bit? Transform into the monster in the last battle? NO WAY! The monster is TASH not the WHITE WITCH! NO! Tash is a Calormen god NOT the White Witch. Am I ever glad your not working on the movies!!!!!

  49. Abren says:

You have said exactly what was on my mind! It really does need to be more attension grabbing! I have to admit that I think the trailer SUCKED and they really need to make something better for the sake of promotion!

Not to mension it looks more like a little kids movie!

    This makes me cry…

  50. Aspen says:

Yep, I saw Ben once, then I saw him again in a boat, but all you could see was his back … 🙁

  51. Aspen says:

Have you guys seen what the movie case looks like? I have! It has Aslan on the front. 😀

  52. Lylanarniafan says:

    LOVE IT!

  53. thyservant says:

But it IS a little kids movie…

  54. Ana says:

It's very nice, but I DO wish they'd just stick to the books. These are great movies, but they to me they are just variations on Narnia. I would LOVE to watch really good movie's of the books!

  55. Authiel Saethwr says:

Agree, the lines were a little cheesy. Hopefully they'll get better:) By the way, how do you get a profile pic here? I'm pretty technically inept:)

  56. Diamond Wolf says:

Okay, I was afraid the story had gotten reallly altered but now see its just a few characters–Edmund–who change it a little. But that whole dialogue thing with Aslan is a bit cheesy for my taste. Cliche. Man, oh, man. not even in the story! Yeah, let's hope the soundtrack's better than PC. Thikn Swear that was a recycled one from LWW and was very disappointed

  57. Chris says:

What about Eustace? I will be quite sore if they sacrifice his story for yet more temptations from Tilda that they've written in simply because she made a good White Witch in the first movie. Eustace and Reepicheep are at the heart of the book, and I hope for their sakes they've made room for them. Edmund's had his bildungsroman already.

  58. Chris says:

I agree. I really feel that in the series, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is where Lewis sort of "found" Narnia–figured out what it was about (not just an enchanted wood of talking creatures occasionally occupied by foreigners, but a real country with neighbors and culture). Paradoxically, this discovery is made as the characters remember what it means to _be_ "Narnian" while in the islands off the Narnian coast. Because he hadn't made this discovery yet, I found the first two books (LWW and PC) to be the weakest in the Chronicles, and accordingly excused the makers of the movies if everything wasn't quite right about the first movies. But the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a real gem. If they foul this movie up, they really have no excuse, because the books are nothing but splendid from here on out. What the heck is this business about temptation? Nonsense! We've covered that in the first book. On to new spiritual lessons, blast it, and if you make my C.S. Lewis insipid and I hear about it from the critics, I will by no means see your movie.

  59. Narnialover says:

I saw what I think was Caspian from the back in the boat with Edmund, Lucy, Eustace and Reepicheep on the Silver Sea going to the world's end. That's really dissappointing if they're going to put that in the movie because Caspian was supposed to stay back and continue ruling Narnia. They probably changed the plot a bit but I hope it won't be like that…
