Hasbro Acquires Entertainment One

Hasbro, an American toy and board game company, has purchased Entertainment One (eOne) for $4 billion. Read more.

Entertainment One, The C. S. Lewis Company, and Netflix are developing new movies and series based on The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Will this latest move with Hasbro have any significant impact on these productions? Time will tell.

In 2005, Hasbro released a series of Narnia action figures based on the movie.

Well, maybe we’ll see more Narnia board games once the series comes out. Hopefully full-map Narnia Risk is on the way….

    “Oh, for God’s Sake…”
(My genuine reaction. No backup yet.)

I haven’t bought action figures in a decade, but if Hasbro makes some for Netflix Narnia, I could see myself buying a couple.

To be fair, they’ve been teasing a “Hasbro Cinematic Universe” for a while now….. maybe this is the first step towards the ultimate crossover event movie – “Transformers vs GI Joe vs Narnia” 😉 hahaha

Wouldn’t that be great?! I basically stopped working on mine (which was a computer game); not that it was too hard or too different from regular Risk, but because of legal mumbo-jumbo like this; I’ve seen companies go after fan games like they’re trying to make money off it, and as just one guy I obviously don’t want that. So Hasbro, if you’re reading, Narnia Risk is definitely something we fans would be interested in! 😀

But to answer the question, of if/how Hasbro’s involvement will affect the productions, I kind of doubt it will at all. When I think of action figures, I think Star Wars, Marvel, Ninja Turtles, Transformers… fantasy just doesn’t get the action figures like sci-fi does (or at least not back when I was a kid). So apart from maybe (hopefully) some board games, I don’t know how interested they would be in Narnia. On the other hand, as part of eOne, I guess it really depends on eOne’s relationship with Netflix – which I can’t really comment on, because I don’t know much about.

But no matter what happens, one thing is for sure: I’m really looking forward to Netflix’s Narnia.

Hahahaha what a weird movie that would be!

    Megatron: Surrender or be destroyed!
White Witch: [without saying a word, turns him to stone]
GI Joe: [shoots her from behind]
    Good guys win! =))

I still have my Narnia Stratego game. It was the first thing movie-related that I bought. My family and I didn’t see the LWW movie until three weeks after it came out because we were scared it wouldn’t be any good and some close friends had to convince us to go see it. We had actually gone to hunt down all the McDonald’s happy meal Narnian action figures and hadn’t even tried to see the movie yet.

    LOL don’t tempt themXD

Incidentally the White Witch was in a cool crossover battle royal thingy on Toon Sandwich that was awesome (also had LOTR, Marvel, GoT, DC, etc) I was surprised but happy to see she’s very recognizable in pop culture

Hasbro also own Wizards of the Coast, who produce Dungeons & Dragons. Perhaps there’s an opportunity for Narnia: the Role-playing Game. At last ! I can play as a Centaur Warrior !!

  10. It was great that they have been acquired by such an outstanding company.
