Narnia Characters Part of Annual Pumpkin People Display

The Jackson area of New Hampshire has a fun display every year: Return of the Pumpkin People. This year, the Snowflake Inn has a display inspired by C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The display includes Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Mr. Tumnus, Aslan, and an antique wardrobe.

The annual event is a self-guided tour through the area where over 80 locations display sculptures using pumpkins and other gourds.

  1. Fun little story! I wonder if that C.S. Lewis quote is real: “ Some journeys take us far from home. Some adventures lead us to our destiny.”
I might go on to Confirming C. S. Lewis Quotations on Facebook later to find out. Or, does anyone here know if it’s genuine?

I’m pretty sure that quote comes from a Prince Caspian movie trailer…

  3. Courtenay says:

It’s definitely NOT genuine. I know the books very well and that quote is not only not in any of them, it’s completely unlike anything Lewis wrote. I suspect Boran is right and it comes from one of the movie trailers.

*facepalm* That was a tagline from the LWW trailer. Definitely not something Lewis ever said.

Thanks JP. I contacted the site and they removed it from the article.

Good catch @Jonathan Paravel. My graduating class motto was almost a fake C. S. Lewis quote (I was indeed the one who ruined the fun for everyone lol) so it disturbs me how many vaguely optimistic sounding quotes are attributed to him.
