(Reverend) Samuel Marsden, an early minister & magistrate, who lived in what is now Western Sydney, at a place now called Mamre House, near St Marys. Called the "Whipping parson", he did a lot of good work in New Zealand where he was much appreciated.

Captain Matthew Flinders, who completed the first close circumnavigation of "Terra Australis" in 1802-03 and afterwards suggested "Australia" as a better sounding name for it...
