The Chronicles of Narnia continue to battle King Kong for the #1 movie title over the holidays. Tuesday’s numbers are in and Narnia beat Kong handily by $1.3m with a total haul of $9.2m. Narnia has made $174.3m domestically since its December 9th release in the US.

Kong narrowly beat Narnia last weekend by $1.5m (#s at Box Office Mojo) while newcomers Fun with Dick and Jane and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 made $14 and $9 million respectively.

With a one-week head-start, Narnia has grossed $174,359,262 domestically while Kong has grossed only $128,516,635. Kong has made more overseas, however, with a very large release. It’s made $153,600,000 compared to Narnia’s $78,862,000.

With the holidays continuing, expect big numbers for Narnia again in its fourth weekend. We can expect to see domestic earnings above $200 million by next week.
