In Store Advertising Has Begun

I was in Family Christian Books today and saw something interesting. On one of the shelves near the children’s section was a smaller version of the standee that has been seen in the movie theaters. It was good sized and very noticeable. In store advertising has begun! Have you seen anything yet? Keep your eyes open for future advertising and products and let us know where you see them!

  4. Hermit of the Northern March says:

Thank you for writing in English; if I knew as much French as you know English it would be very good!
I haven't seen anything yet either, but I'm glad to know the moviemakers are advertising!
Please pray for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie.

I wonder if you could buy something like that in a poster format. That is awesome!!

Looking at this poster after such a time I thought, "What would someone who only saw the first movie or never saw any Narnia film think looking at that poster?" I came to this conclusion: they would think at a glance that it's a poster for LWW. Why? Because it's got Aslan, Jadis, a goat-guy (Tumnus), and the Pevencies. Also, the sword that Ed is holding looks like the lampost at a glance.
They really should have put the Dawn Treader as the focus of this poster to differentiate this movie from the first. Differentiating the movies from each other in marketing is as important as relating them to each other.
Excited about the in-store advertising while despising this poster more and more.

    Ooh, very nice!

I saw one a bit like this in a Christian bookstore in August!

I am sure the real thing is bigger than the picture here, and even with the small writing on the tiny picture I can tell it says "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in Digital 3D December 10" I don't think anyone who actually cared to look at it would get it mixed up, and the ones who don't care enough to read it probably don't care whether it's LWW or VDT. 😉 I think the poster is fine.
Though I do see what you're saying. They really do seem like they're trying too hard to copy LWW because PC didn't do as well.

I have a Family Christian Store near my house!!! This girl who works there ALWAYS pre-orders the best Narnia merchandise (bookmarks, action figures, posters, even Narnia shopping bags to put the Narnia stuff in!! LOL) I'll have to check it out and ask her if she can find some more cool stuff like that for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Thank goodness for employees like her!! Haha! 🙂

P.S. The day Prince Caspian came out on DVD, we couldn't find the special 3-disc edition anywhere (Target, Walmart, Best Buy…none of those). They only carried the single disc. 🙁 But where did we end up finding it??? The Family Christian Store!! Figures…

The poster looks a amazing! Also, no advertising here only in the movie theaters which is really nice and it has the Dawn Treader on it, I was staring at it for like 10 minutes before my brothers started pulling me away from it!

P.S. Has anybody noticed that Lucy looks really evil like in this poster?

  14. Not Of This World says:

Good! Good! Advertizing! We need a lot more advritizing then they did for Prince Caspian. Very good! Very Good!

  15. Not Of This World says:

    August? Nice!

  16. starkat says:

This poster wasn't exactly small. It was probably half the width of a 10 ft (or longer) long bookshelf.

  17. Feather~Light~Heart says:

Yup, I noticed that. She doesn't look like Lucy in this picture, I like the other one of her better….

  18. Hiking-Peter says:

It's her eyes, guys. They are bigger around than her mouth! (hyperbole)

  19. Thekla says:

Keep it all coming, Tirian. I can't get enough of it!

p.s. Anyone have any clue what hiking-peter meant about "hyperbole"?

  20. Hiking-Peter says:

    It's an exaggeration, Thekla.

i haven't seen anything but i will b on the lookout! so excited that in-store adverstising began!!!!!!!

  22. Queen Susan the Gentle says:

Sweet! I'll be keeping my eyes open! Thanks!

  23. Annabeth says:

    Yay! I'm so excited!

  24. Rilian says:

Galadriel is right. It looks too similar to LWW, and it doesn't even look that attractive as a poster. Having the white witch or Susan (even if featured for a "teeny tiny fraction" in the film) is a problem, but why on earth have they left out the dawn treader? Excuse me people. It's the VOYAGE of the Dawn Treader! I see nothing related to a voyage or the ship in this poster.

  25. Sir Jack says:

you're right! I think just a simpel cool picture of the Dawn Treader (like this: http://s3.narniaweb.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/image_78.jpg ) would be much better, than this conglomerate of fragments.. it doesn't even look good and it doesn't show a bit whats the storry like.

  26. Queen Susan the Gentle says:

We went to the Christian bookstore in my local town, and they had a small poster by a self of the old books, but sadly no VDT books or pics or toys, but there were some LWW and PC! Hooray!

  27. Queen Susan the Gentle says:

Yeah, my mum and I were just talking about this. She doesn't look like the sweet Lucy we know. It's a very bad picture of her. I can't help feeling bad. That'd be kind of embarassing if you were her.
