Runtime of Voyage

Earlier this week, we featured a story in which we reported that Voyage will be screened at the Naples Film Festival.  Also mentioned in this article, is that the film will run for 120 minutes.  Another site (this time a German website) is also reporting this.  This runtime is shorter than both “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe,” and “Prince Caspian.”

You can read the article concerning the Naples Film Festival by clicking here, and if you can read German you can view that article by clicking here.

Thanks to Johnny T for the heads up.

    That's 2 hours for all you math-challenged people 🙂

  2. Luis Daniel says:

Why!!!! i want that move with more minutes or another hour!!!!! but its ok atlest is two hours!!!! yey! =)

  3. Aslan's Meadow says:

lol, funny K. Though I am disapointed that it is shorter then the first two. I was hoping for an hour and a half.

  4. I hope it is more then a hour… But less the 2 hours, because I don't want to endour the agony…:P

  5. Boke_Wyrm says:

The length of PC, 2hrs, 17.5 minutes, was widely regarded as a knock against it. VDT's more episodic nature probably made it easier to trim to a more family-friendly length. Most films this fall have been 1 hour, fifty minutes, I think this will make the film more accessible, and thus more popular.

  6. Shastafan says:

Cool! But then, of course, this hasn't been comfirmed yet, so it still could be longer! 😉

  7. QueenLucytheValient says:

I really do not care what time it is, just longer than 1 1/2 hours

  8. glumPuddle says:

I think the Naples run time is just the run time of that event. Not the film.

  9. Ugly Pig says:

Two hours? That…. sounds about right. Remember people, "longer" doesn't necessarily mean "better".

  10. Murtaghluv says:

Wait you were disapointted that is is shorter but you wanted it to be only 90 minutes?

  11. Pepper Darcy says:

Well… that's okay. 2hr. IS better than an hour and a half! 🙂 I was hoping for a slightly longer movie, but I'll take what I get 😀

  12. Savber100 says:

I don't really care about the runtime as long as the film is good.

I'll take a excellent 90 min film over a crappy 120 min film any day. 😛

  13. David Sutton says:

That was my reaction also. I don't know how reliable the German site is.

  14. Elf Maiden Archer of Rivendell says:

    I agree! If it was 1 & 1/2, i would be mad.

  15. Twinimage says:

If this is true, I'm glad. Most big franchise movies last around 2 and 1/2 hours. That can drag on many times.
It's probably better that this film is shorter.
For as straight forward as the plot is, it shouldn't be that long. What's more important is the pacing of the film.
If it's all "rush rush, hurry to the next scene", then it really hurts the character development and makes it harder to get into the story.

  16. Reepicheep says:

Well, the longer the better :).

  17. Eliseo says:

eh, I was hoping the film would be a bit longer, but at least its two hours… anything below that would be too short.

  18. it is on a different Language…… i can't understand it!

  19. Movie Aristotle says:

Ugh. I'd like to be lost in Narnia for a bit longer than 2 hours. I was anticipating this to be the longest movie of the Chronicles. Now they've cut it down to 120 minutes?

  20. 1. Walden Media Panel on film festival site: "Included in the presentation will be an introduction to the screenwriting lesson plans. … The presentation will also include sample footage from the upcoming release, background information of the filming on location, and an introduction to the use of 3D for this particular film."
    2. Walden Media Panel on bside.com = 120 min
    3. Walden Media Panel on Silverspot Cinema site: 90 min.
    4. Walden Media Panel on FilmFest program guide [pdf] = 2:45-4:30 [105 min]

There is no way the movie is just 120 min! The entire presentation on Nov 6 is 90-105 min.

  21. Aslan's Meadow says:

lol sorry, I meant TWO and a half hours….only 1 and a half would have killed me. 🙂

  22. decarus says:

I hope it is closer to 2 hours 15.

  23. Queen Elizabeth says:

I'm happy with the number. Still When you add in all the bonus features you get on DVD you get a lot more 🙂

  24. pselpevensie says:

    awesome! can't wait!!!!

  25. narnian resident says:

huh, i dont remember LWW and PC being longer than that. maybe like a few minutes off. but oh well, 2 hours sounds good to me

  26. Reepicheep says:

Hey that's my name, don't steal it!

  27. Reepicheep says:

Let's hope and pray it's not two hours of disappointment.

  28. Queen Su says:

Well they already are making it shorter, hopefully it is sweeter than PC.

  29. Edson07bs says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I wanted it to be longer =(

  30. Aragorn2 says:

No it does not necessarily mean better but it does mean more 🙂 🙂

  31. Mangolite says:

I don't mind if it is LOTR:ROTK sized at 200 mins with a lot of magics, battles and characters.

  32. Scarlet13 says:

I thought that it would be longer than this. but aslong it's really good and not rushed then Im fine. but if it was an hour and ahalf I wouldn't like that!

  33. samuel says:

IF it's only 2 hours, It would be cool if they did a dvd extended version with an extra hour, like they did with LOTR

  34. Josh says:

Well Fox is notorious for forcing directors to cut large portions of movies to fit a shorter running time (cause shorter runningtime, means more available screens).

As a result, a lot of their films fail. I hope 120 minutes is enough.

  35. 120 minutes??!!!?? no! make it the film 2 hours,if its a 1 hour and 20 minutes, that'll screw the whole thing up

  36. McGunn says:

I couldn't agree more! I seriously hoped it wouldn't be as long as Prince Caspian.

I find that a real problem with movies nowadays that they're so long that if you sit down and watch it you don't have time for anything else that night…

Also it is better for a family movie.
