Several New Songs for ‘Dawn Treader’

Russian Сергей Лазарев (That’s Sergey Lazarev) has his new music video out for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader where he performs the song “Instantly.”

Swedish band EMD, who was the first group we saw performing “There’s a Place for Us” live, now has their official music video out.

And finally, Dutch singer Xander de Buisonje also performs “There’s a Place for Us” though his music video takes place in a studio rather than the watery stage we’ve seen in the other videos. His video also includes new clips. Check it out on YouTube here.

Thanks to Daniel James and AslansCountry for the links!

Well, you can't blame FOX for not marketing the film, that's for sure. Still think the Swedish version is the best. But then again, I guess I'm biassed.

  2. narniafan#1 says:

Wow. I am kind've surprised at VDT's ability to generate so much popularity among celebrities. Good for Narnia!

  3. checkers says:

I'm American, and I think the Swedish version is the best, too. 😛

  4. NewMillenium says:

Am I the only one that's bothered by them singing random, romantic songs and making it a "Narnia" music video. The songs are good, but it has nothing to do with the story of Dawn Treader(excluding, "There's A Place For Us")

  5. checkers says:

Not at all. I'm highly annoyed by it too. >_<

  6. QStheG says:

I don't like Lazarev, although I'm Russian but this song is very beautiful))
So "There’s A Place For Us" i like all variants))

  7. Quinlin says:

Oh I love Sergey's song, "Instantly"! The lyrics are very powerful and the music video is nicely done as well! Being Russian myself, I've been a fan of some of Lazarev's songs and to see him singing for Narnia is a wonderful surprise! Lovely!

  8. Amazing_Georgie says:

I'm Swedish and I don't really like EMD but I think they performed this song pretty well.

  9. DearHeart says:

I absolutely love Instantly. This is such a beautiful song. From what I gathered this song is about Caspian and Lilliandil. It would be so awesome if this song ties into the film. Wow! Good job Sergey Lazarev!!

    ~What Might Have Happened~

  10. Spare Oomian says:

I duno, I think "There's a Place for Us" goes with the movie. In the beginning it talks about them not fitting in but there's another world where they truly belong–Narnia. I rather liked them both…mainly for the clips though. Can't lie.

  11. Jessica says:

I'm Swedish & I don't like EMD so much so if I had choosed it would have been Agnes who sang there's a place for us

  12. Queen Su says:

    I agree!

  13. narnian21 says:

EMD sounds way better here! And the serpent totally just took out dragon Eustace!

  14. Sugar Mouse says:

I can't stand Lazarev since he sang for High School Musicial 3. I haven't heard Instantly in the movie, but I've heard There's A Place for Us, it was pretty good.

  15. Alambil and Tarvis says:

Are all these songs that have been written/recorded for VDT going to be compiled on an album or something? Like the "Music inspired by Narnia" album released for LWW?

  16. Alambil and Tarvis says:

Maybe the romantic songs are supposed to be about Caspian & Lilliandil? The lyrics to "Instantly" sort of seem to fit the two of them…IDK

  17. Dirty B. says:

I think Lazerev is one of the worst russian singers in case of how he shows himself. So I really hate the fact that he touches Narnia.
    Totally IMHO.

  18. wild rose says:

I totally agree with you, he is one of the worst, I hate his voice, it sounds like he has a stuffy nose or something. His accent isn't too bad, I guess, and the song is okay, I just don't see how it goes well with Narnia (I guess it could a be a sort of Caspian/Lilliandil thing, but they could have found a better singer, and a better song.) And what's more that guy knows nothing about Narnia, I was watching an interview with him and all he knew was that it was the third part of the Chronicles of Narnia series and that there was a lion there. Humph. There are so many more talented Russian singers, why him 🙁

  19. De_De says:

Ohhhhh why did they choose Sergey Lazarev :(! I am from Russia, and we have so many talented singers….I am very disapointed with FOX's choice! And why is he singing in English? I think if he sang in Russian it would be a lot better. I mean, the Indians sang in Hindi, why can't the Russians sing on Russian? Grrrrrrrr

  20. Victoria says:

Wow! Go Erik, Marcus and Daniel – go EMD! 😀

  21. Victoria says:

I´m Sweedish to, and I agree. Agnes would be perfekt for this song.

  22. okay, Sergey Lazarev's "Instantly" was interesting…..
idf that had been for PC, I would have been like "Oh, that's Suspian" but wow…..that has nothing to do with Narnia, really……
    😛
    just my two cents

  23. Griffle says:

Victoria, jag trodde du var svensk. Är inget idol fan, men till och med jag vet att han heter Mattias. 😉

  24. Griffle says:

Wow! Lot's of Swedes in here all of a sudden. And I thought I was the only one. Well, have a look at my Narnia collection and be amazed/proud to be a Swede. hehe —> http://tinyurl.com/3xynq7f

  25. I'm just breathless. All of them are simply beautiful….

  26. Had to translate that with Bing X) Hope you don't mind.

  27. I know how you feel. Lazarev sang beautifully, but then again I'm not Russian, so I wouldn't know. What I meant was that I wasn't pleased with Sreeram Chandra performing the Narnian song. Really, I think that when VDT comes out in Pakistan, my country, they will also play Rehnuma. Personally, though I'm not doubting Indian talent and there are many great Indian singers, I was hoping for a Paki to sing to represent India/Pak; There's a lot of Urdu/Hindi singing talent in my country. I would have hoped for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan or Atif Aslam

  28. Griffle says:

Nah, sorry, I just thought it suitable to reply to this in Swedish. Do you know if Bing is better than Babelfish? Did it work ok?

  29. Fire vien says:

    Thats what I thought too.

  30. FL says:

Am I the only one who think EMD's version is the best of the international version? (actually, it's almost as good as Carrie's). They sang the song with more reverence and subtlety than Victoria S and Sonohra.

  31. Violamom says:

Meh. With a capital "M". "Voyage" by Scott Krippayne is SO superior in every possible way. Dearheart and I are majorly miffed that his song isn't the "official" one. I really don't understand why there are all these umpteen jillion recordings of There's a Place For Us…I don't recall any other song anywhere getting so much pre-release attention. Frankly, it's making me thoroughly sick of it. But whatever…this kind of pop fluff seems to be an obligatory part of any soundtrack these days, and rarely causes any excitement in our household. (And what's with the EXACT SAME SET being used in BOTH these videos?????) Oy…Regardless, we're looking forward to FRIDAY!!!!! 😀 <><

  32. Fire Fairy says:

No, you're not the only one. I really liked EMD's version. You're right, the did sing it with a lot more reverence. It seemed like they really believed what they were singing.

Ugh, the only thing I don't like about this song is "Exactly who we are is just enough." That totally goes against Lewis's beliefs. I don't think he'd like that very much (in fact, knowing him, he'd probably protest very loudly about it).

  33. FL says:

Yeah I know this line will provoke a lot of reactions cos it's very open-ended and can be interpreted in a number of ways. For me, it's the result of the song-writers trying to walk a fine line. God requires the best from us and wants us to die to ourselves and live for Christ, but you can't say that in a movie soundtrack directed to general, secular audience. However, I feel that there's still some truth in that line, because God loves us as we are. We were saved not because of what we did but because of His grace. And He made each of us with our own unique personalities and allows us to serve Him with what we have.

  34. Reepicheep says:

All you people who haven't seen the Dawn Treader yet, Carrie Underwood's version of 'There's a Place for Us' features in the end credits, and then Stan Walker's 'Stand Up' comes on after. I really like the end credits because it has all these illustrations in it which are exactly the same as in the book.

  35. For Christ Alone says:

I don't cafre for the first one too much, though it may be good in the movie.

BUT! I REALLY, REALLY like There's a Place for Us. I like it much better than Carrie Underwood's (and I really like her version too!). I wish they would use this version in the movie!!!!

  36. narnianheart says:

I really like the Swedish sing "place for us". I like that first song, too. Its pretty.

  37. wild rose says:

I know, it has absolutly nothing to do with Narnia, that's why I don't like it, the song in itself isn't that bad (provided a different singer sang it) but there is simply nothing Narnian about it. It's from his latest album, they were wondering wether to write a song for him or take one of his already recorded ones, and they went with one of his recorded ones, if you ask me, they should have written one.

  38. Embrace says:

    I´m swedish too! 😉

  39. C.J Ashling says:

Alright, this is what I'm interpreting from what I know about the Australia release (ie: 'cos I've seen the movie). For the credits of the Australian version we had Carrie singing followed by Stan Walker's own song. So I'm going to say that any country whose singer has a different song (ie: Russia, UK) is going to have Carrie doing the credits followed by the country's own single.
Obviously I don't know what the deal is with the countries who have the song released by their own people because you definitely need two songs for the credits- they're too long for one.
Regarding the singers of each countries, so far the only version I've hated is the Australian version so I'm thinking everyone hates their own singer because they have to listen to them all the time whereas the new singers are fresh and new.
Just a thought or two 😀

  40. C.J Ashling says:

PS: I'm going to spit chips if they don't release a complilation CD with every countries versions on it

  41. jordanjay29 says:

That's just antithetic to Narnia, though. Besides the references we have of marriage of Caspian and Ramandu's daughter at the end of VDT, and discussions of it in HHB, the only love really touched on in Narnia is the religious sort.

  42. jordanjay29 says:

Does it seem like every artist is using the same studio and water effects for their 'Narnia' themed songs? I'm getting irritated by the repetition and lack of real creativity here.

  43. NewMillenium says:

    I love Scott Krippayne's song!

  44. The Narniad says:

…how come like, three people have sung "There's a place for us" ? I'm confused…

  45. Eva says:

I want to see this Dutch guy his performance (since I'm Dutch!) But can't watch the link on youtube because I'm not from the States! Ridiculous.. and I haven't seen it and can't find it anywhere else!

  46. Narnian Meerkat says:

I liked Instantly. . .Though it could've been a little bit more faster. . .

  47. Dirty B. says:

Oh my god! I've seen the movie second time and there really was lazarev singing "There's a place for us". Terrific! They contrived even to spoil the arrangement of the song. I hate Fox-Russia, they work unbelievable bad!

  48. Jessica says:

His name is Danny. Not Daniel
