Announcing #WeLoveNarnia, a 10-Day Social Media Event

Do you love Narnia? Let’s talk about it!

The Magician’s Nephew will be celebrating its 70th anniversary on May 2nd, and although there’s been no official announcement yet, C.S. Lewis’s beloved Narnia prequel is widely believed to be the book that Greta Gerwig is adapting for Netflix.

With filming slated to begin in July, now is a great time for fans to share just how much The Chronicles of Narnia mean to them and to celebrate all the characters, moments, and memories that have made this series a cornerstone of children’s literature for almost 75 years.

Beginning April 23rd and continuing through the anniversary on May 2nd, NarniaWeb will be posting on social media with the hashtag #WeLoveNarnia, inviting fans to join the trend and share their love for Narnia, too.

Feel free to engage with a new prompt every day, or you can use them for inspiration and go at your own pace!

Fans are also invited to share Narnia fan art and fan videos, as well as merch and do-it-yourself crafts.

Above all, we ask that everyone who engages with this hashtag do so from a place of love for Narnia, and in a way that is kind and respectful to the cast, crew, and staff of the upcoming film.

Let’s share with Netflix, and the world, how much these stories mean to us! #WeLoveNarnia

    #WeLoveNarnia! ♥

Btw, if social media isn’t your cup of tea, be sure to check out NarniaWeb Forum and our Discord group! 🙂

Cool! I think I can do everything except the last two. I’m not a crafts guy and I don’t think I have anything to say to Netflix that other fans haven’t already said and probably better.

This is a great idea, movie or no movie!

An excellent idea! Hopefully it should be a great chance for the Narnia fanbase to show what a creative and engaged community it is in the most positive manner possible!

I became a fan of Narnia because of my mom reading LWW to me and my older brother when I was three, and watching the BBC movie with my brother, his friend and his friend’s sister (who is my best friend). My friend is older than me and has blonde hair like Susan in that movie, and I have dark hair like Lucy, so the four of us would go into the coat closet (because that’s a wardrobe) and play that we’d gotten into Narnia! Anyways, those times are some of my favorite childhood memories.

I read the Narnia books aloud to my elementary students for many years. Even now former students tell me that they are so happy that I introduced them to the books.

Great idea! I actually have an extensive Narnia project I just started…not sure that I could have it done in time though.

  8. Claire Conry says:

Get idea . My faviourate book is the dawntredder book and film. Its amazing .

  9. Angie says:

My favorite book is the Horse and His Boy, because it is entirely what was going on in Narnia during the Pevensies’ reign. Aravis is awesome, Edmund is amazing, and it has the funny, British-type dry humor: “[Shasta (Cor) and Aravis] argued and made up so many times that they finally got married so that they could do so with more convenience.”

  10. Jason Offutt says:

Prince Caspian was a great sequel for my reading order. Lived how Narnia had changed so much since the Pevensies were last there.

  11. Angie says:

My favorite movie is Disney’s LWW because of how faithful it is to the book.

  12. Angie says:

@Claire Conry Yeah, VDT is pretty awesome…love that you like both the book and the film

  13. Misael says:

I became a fan of Narnia because it was the most wonderful movie of my life, as it mixes fantastic and human beings, and I hope they never change and respect the source material.

  14. Angie says:

My favorite quote ties into my favorite scene: in VDT when they reach the edges of Aslan’s Country and He tells Lucy and Edmund that He has another name in our world. That that was the point of them coming to Narnia, “that by knowing [Aslan] for a little [in Narnia], they might know Him better [in our world].” Kudos to Douglas Gresham for fighting to keep that scene in the movie!

I love the idea of animals talking, I think it would be just cool as anything if animals actually talk in Heaven! According to the Book of Jubilees, they actually did until the fall, and then God shut their mouths.

  16. Angie says:

My favorite hero is Reepicheep. He’s a mouse, but he’s stalwart and brave, and you don’t want to mess with him. He only lays down his sword when he goes to Aslan’s country, which is a good exhortation to us to keep fighting the good fight with every breath we have.
