Emma Mackey and Margaret Qualley Testing for White Witch in Netflix’s ‘Narnia’ Movie
Last month, Deadline reported that singer Charli XCX was being eyed to play the White Witch in Greta Gerwig’s first Narnia film for Netflix. However, a new report from Jeff Sneider (TheInSneider) claims that Charli XCX is no longer in the running.
According to Sneider, Gerwig now plans to test three young actresses for the role of Jadis. Two of the names reportedly in the mix are Margaret Qualley (The Substance) and Emma Mackey (Barbie, Sex Education), with the third actress currently unknown.
If Qualley and Mackey are testing, it means they want the part — and they expect to be available for the big-budget shoot.”

The film, based on The Magician’s Nephew, is expected to begin production in July at Shepperton Studios in the UK, though the White Witch may not be needed on set until August.
Netflix has not confirmed any casting or production details at this time.
Well, that’s some news at least. Now, could someone report that Streep is out too? Out of the two, I like the look of Emma Mackey better.
I was kind of interested in Charli XCX, but I like the look of these possible Jadises (Jadisi? Jadi?) too
I wonder if they were talking to Charli XCH about doing a pop song for the movie. I wouldn’t want one in the body of a Narnia movie, but I wouldn’t necessarily mind it in the credits. Given some of the crazy news we’ve heard lately, maybe the movie’s story really is going to be a metaphor for the history of rock and roll music! 🙂
Okay, so maybe Greta hasn’t completely lost her mind. These are both bang-on choices for Jadis.

As much as I was warming to the idea of Charli XCX based purely on her somewhat unique and compelling aesthetic appearance, I must say it’s hugely reassuring to be talking about two proper actresses here.
It the third name is perhaps Mikey Madison (previously rumoured and visually very similar looking) then that’s a really high-level acting trio to chose from.
After two weeks of craziness, there is just something so delightful about how “normal” this news is.
It’s interesting that Greta has been looking at actresses who closely resemble Jadis physically, so why would she choose to change Aslan into a woman? I really hope the Streep thing is just a misunderstanding.
Let’s remember no one has been cast and the phrase “in talks” is virtually meaningless, sometimes used to present the illusion of high demand for someone to assist in negotiations

I’m definitely more comfortable with these two as Jadis over Charli XCX. She did have an intriguing look to her but the thought of having a huge pop star in the role just didn’t feel right.
Margaret Qualley is so hot right now, she’s probably “in talks” for every movie currently in pre-production. I like her a lot, and we’ll be seeing a lot of more of her, but can she play “regal”??
Maybe the third actress is Ryan Gosling?
