New Set Photo Shows Possible Digory and Jadis Stunt Doubles on Horseback
Set photos continue to roll in from Netflix’s Narnia production which has just completed its second day of filming in the City of London.
While Greta Gerwig was busy filming key scenes with the young actors playing Digory and Polly, the Second Unit was off filming a stunt sequence involving stunt doubles for Digory and Jadis riding a horse.

As stunt doubles, destined only to be shot from a distance, their replica costumes will typically not be manufactured to the same high-quality standard as the main actors themselves (note also their safety helmets, concealed discretely beneath their wigs). These photos do, however, provide some possible clues as to the overall aesthetic that Greta Gerwig has selected for Jadis’ Charnian outfit.
The photo surfaced in an Instagram reel, which also included a two-second clip of the actors riding the horse down a London street.
Maybe they’re going to have Jadis steal lights from cars in London and use them for elbow pads. That’s honestly what her costume looks like to me.
Appreciating that its just a stunt double costume, and they never look as good on set as they do on film, but its certainly a different look than the one i was expecting!
Definitely reminds me of a sort of classic 1960s / 70s Sci-Fi look. I’m certain it must be a Greta Gerwig movie reference, which we know she often does with her costume designs.
I wonder if Jadis will have the same outfit for the entire movie, or will this be clothes she takes from London? Totally seperate random question, but will Narniaweb have a countdown for the release date?
I really hope that’s not what Jadis’s costume looks like!
I wonder if Jadis will have a regal, gorgeous, and legendary outfit in Charn, but after she’s perused London for a short time she finds this outfit straight out of a circus that better matches her ludicrous ego and she thinks it looks great.
Definitely a “creative choice” but I dislike it very much. There’s no fantasy, no mystery, no embroidery or jewels hinting at Charn’s culture or economy. I would’ve loved to see Jadis wear something like coronation robes or the dress in Pauline Baynes’ illustrations; or, if Jadis forced Uncle Andrew to buy something for her in London, an aristocratic gown that would befit royalty on Earth in the 1950s. This costume just isn’t right!
I was alright with part of the film being set in the 1950s, hoping it was a framing device or something. I didn’t like the choice of actors (other than Jadis and Digory’s mum) but I hoped they would be interesting anyway. But it seems like the ENTIRE movie is going to be set half a century later than it was supposed to be! That, combined with everything else, makes me feel like the movie is going to be a giant flop. I’m so disappointed because I was just building up enthusiasm again after seeing the picture of the lion in the mural, because it is definitely masculine and I finally felt like there was some hope.
I’m going to keep an eye out for more articles and wish for the best, but my spirits are really crushed right now.
P.S. Sorry for ranting!
I think it’s really clear that Jadis has cobbled together an outfit she thinks looks really smashing. I don’t think this is her Charn attire.
I hope so. But I feel like she would think this dress was ridiculous, even though she’s in a foreign world and doesn’t know what the fashion is. It’s not very regal and she would certainly take it off once she realized people weren’t taking her seriously in it.
Lord Almighty.
Clearly the 50s is not a framing device! That’s when the film is set— for whatever reason.
OK I realllllly hope the stunt outfit is different from her actual costume. 90’s BBC Narnia had better costume standards than that (mostly).
Still cool to see this, though this could well confirm the 1950’s is the actual story setting…which means we can likely look forward to modern Pevensies…
