Netflix Reveals 10 Confirmed Narnia Cast Members, Including Ciarán Hinds

A new press release from Netflix has officially confirmed the main cast members for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of ‘The Magician’s Nephew’, including the surprise addition of Northern Irish and Academy Award-nominated actor, Ciarán Hinds, in an as-yet undisclosed role.

  • David McKenna
  • Beatrice Campbell
  • Emma Mackey
  • Carey Mulligan
  • Ciarán Hinds
  • Daniel Craig
  • Meryl Streep
  • Kobna Holdbrook-Smith
  • Denise Gough
  • Susan Wokoma

Ciarán Hinds will be well known to fans of the fantasy genre, having played Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, Dumbledore’s brother in the final Harry Potter film, and a small role in the Lord of the Rings television spin-off The Rings of Power.

Hind’s role in the film has not been announced. One possibility, we would speculate, is an older Professor Kirke, an aged-up version of the young Digory, played by fellow Belfast native David McKenna.

Also confirmed in the new press release are Kobna Holdbrook Smith and Susan Wokoma, who NarniaWeb first reported on earlier this year. We believe them to be playing Frank and Helen, respectively.

I hope he will play Aslan.

    Quick and astute work, NarniaWeb

While an older Digory is possible, they would surely also have an older Polly? So maybe he is voicing Aslan?

    • Icarus says:

Polly doesn’t really appear as a character in the epilogue of Magician’s Nephew, and she also isn’t required for LWW, so no reason to suspect they would need a big star to play an adult Polly.

I take your point but Gerwig has changed a lot to the story and I think she wouldn’t want to leave Polly out, especially as the book dos talk about them staying friends until they’re older.

“Magic Mirror on the wall, who’s the fastest to release news to all?”
“There are many news outlets my queen, but Narniaweb is by far the fastest seen.” 🙂

    Thanks for another fast update!

Wikipedia says Ciaran is “known for his distinctly deep voice”. I think he’s our Aslan.
