Transcript:

Lucy and Edmund walk into the Scrubb’s house. Harold is reading the paper.
Lucy: We’re home!

Lucy and Edmund are in Lucy’s bedroom. Lucy’s looking into a mirror.
Edmund: Lucy, have you seen this ship before?
Lucy: It’s very Narnian isn’t it?
Eustace walks into the room.
Eustace: What’s going on here?
Lucy: Edmund the painting!
Eustace runs to tear the painting from the wall.
Edmund: No Eustace no!

The bedroom fills with water and all three swim to the surface. As Lucy arrives at the top, she sees the Dawn Treader approaching.
Lucy: Edmund!
Caspian and Lucy are pulled from the water.
Everyone now aboard the deck, Caspian addresses his crew.
Caspian: Behold our castaways, King and Queen of Narnia.
The crew kneels before them.
Lucy: Reepicheep!
Reepicheep: Your majesties!

Eustace throwing a temper tantrum screams at the crew as they stand around smirking.
Eustace: Where in the blazes am I?
Tavros the Minotaur: You’re on the Dawn Treader.
Eustace takes one look at the minotaur and faints. The crew laughs.
Tavros to Rynelf: Was it something I said?

FROM C.S. LEWIS’S EPIC MASTERPIECE

Caspian, Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, and Reepicheep sail through the sea of lilies where they arrive on the shore before the edge of the world. A giant wave is in the background as they greet Aslan.
Lucy: Aslan.
Aslan: You have come far. Your adventure begins now.

A water nymph leaps out of the water in front of the ship.

Caspian, Edmund, and Lucy look up into the sky as a brilliant blue light descends upon them.
Lucy: Look!
The light transforms into Lilliandril.
Lilliandril: Travelers of Narnia, I am your guide.
Caspian: You are most beautiful.
Lilliandril: If it is a distraction for you, I-I can change forms.
Caspian and Edmund: No!
Caspian and Edmund look at each other. Lucy looks at them and rolls her eyes.

Coriakin throws a map across the room in his library.
Coriakin: There is the source of your trouble.
The white witch appears as a phantom in green smoke.
Edmund: You mean a witch?
Coriakin walks around looking at Edmund.
Coriakin: Something far more powerful than a witch.
Green smoke crawls down the stairs and seeps into the room.
Coriakin: It can steal the light from this world.
Lucy: How do we stop it?
Coriakin points at Edmund.
Coriakin: That sword you carry must be laid at Aslan’s table.
Shot of Edmund drawing a sword in a cave.
Shot of everyone walking around Aslan’s table. A great feast sits on it.
Coriakin: Only then can their true power be released.
Seven swords sit on Aslan’s table. They glow blue and then a great beam of light shoots up into the air.
Coriakin: You are all about to be tested.

The Dawn Treader approaches the Dark Island.
Green smoke crawls onto the ship.
The White Witch: Edmund, come with me. I can make you my king, and much more.
The White Witch reaches out to Edmund.
The White Witch: My King.
Lucy: NOO!!!
Caspian: EDMUND!
The sword Edmund is holding glows blue.

Reepicheep soaking wet in a rainstorm clings to the ship.
Reepicheep: Onward to our destiny!

Drinian, Tavros, and Edmund stand at the helm of the Dawn Treader.
Tavros: What do you think is in there?
Sailors row boats towards Ramandu’s Island.
Someone (Drinian or Rynelf?): Things you can barely imagine.

Lucy walks through a doorway and as it closes becomes invisible on the island.

Shot of the Dawn Treader from above with Drinian at the helm and the crew standing around.

Shot of Lilliandril.
Lilliandril: The fate of Narnia depends on you.
Lilliandril turns back into a star and shoots up into the air.

Lucy looks down at a book with a bunch of jumbled letters. Blowing the dust off, it turns into The Book of Incantations. Lucy smiles. The book is opened and pages are turning rapidly. Lucy slams her hand down on the book. The next moment it is snowing and Lucy looks around smiling.

Dragon Eustace flies overhead.

Caspian addressing the crew. The crew shouts “For Narnia!”

Caspian and the others battle the slavers in the bell tower.

Dragon Eustace flies over the volcanic island below.

The sea serpent erupts out of the ocean. The Dawn Treader lists to one side and the crew falls backwards. The sea serpent roars. Lucy aims an arrow.

Dragon Eustace flies over the Dawn Treader. One of the fauns does a somersault across the deck.

Eustace is surrounded by jumping Dufflepuds.

Reepicheep climbs the mast of the Dawn Treader and looks out from the crows nest and smiles.

Lucy, surrounded by Caspian, Edmund, Eustace and Aslan, kneels down to say goodbye to Reepicheep.

The sea serpent goes to attack Eustace as a dragon, and Eustace breaths fire back at the sea serpent.

Aslan roars.

Final credits.

Thanks adamie for the alert!

Oh my goodness! I can't breath! I'm so thrilled to see VDT that I'm going insane with joy! πŸ˜€

  2. NarniaFreak says:

I'm sorta speechless. I would absolutely LOVE this if I had never read the book before.
All the same, this will be an awesome movie.
But it does, in fact, look like the somewhat "peaceful" Dawn Treader will be taking a spin in the "epic" tempest.
I'm still bouncing off the walls with excitement though.
    SAIL ON VDT!! πŸ™‚

  3. Louloudi the Centaur says:

Wow. I am posting this after seeing the trailer for the first time. I am still trying to digest the material, but here are my overall thoughts.
Wow. Eustace is perfect! I laughed when he fainted after he saw the minotaur. Boo to the White Witch still, but we will still have to see how big the sword plot really is when it's December 10th. Dragon Eustace looks really cool, as does the Sea Serpent. It does look as if it could really scare some younger children. And the effects look a ton better than they did in the first two trailers. And the trailer seems to show it is a serious movie, unlike the first trailer. Score: 8/10

  4. Arden says:

The subtitles were funny. "Nie, Eustachy, nie!"

  5. sgk474 says:

    Amazing – looks fantastic!

  6. Aslan's my Homeboy says:

That was so amazing! I am sooooo excited now! Please hurry December!

  7. Louloudi the Centaur says:

Oh yeah, the Dark Island actually is darker now.

  8. Linden says:

This takes me back to when I downloaded the LWW trailer (with French subtitles!). It even has the same music. Well, the trailer is a mixed bag. It has some good moments, like Eustace's "Where in the blazes am I" scene. He really looks into his role! Reepicheep on the prow in the rain is a beautiful little moment, though very easy to miss. Liliandil's looks are growing on me, and her voice is lovely. And the snow moment is magical, as always.

But the main things that stick out are, of course, the disappointments. The plot changes, namely. Why exactly did they need the whole seven swords plot? Other movies have gotten away with vague plotlines (Spirited Away, for example) and have had plenty of critical acclaim. But from the looks of this trailer, critical acclaim isn't what they're going for. $$$$$. I think Tilda Swinton must be blackmailing the production or something. Why does she keep coming back, for Heaven's sake? The smokey things flying around in the Dark Island scene (?) look like rip-offs of Harry Potter-type magic, as do a few other scenes. I'm not happy at all with the whole Liliandil/Caspian/Edmund and the Edmund/Resurrected White Witch thing. It's like the production's idea of growing up is 1. Becoming brave (it's a biggie), 2. Dealing with massive pride issues, 3. Falling in love, and, at least in Lucy's case, 4. Being okay with your looks. Couldn't we have some more subtle character development? In PC, what was meant to be character development (I'm assuming) blocked out the rest of the character. I wish they would have learned their lessons. πŸ™

  9. Linden says:

The first time I saw the White Witch in the first trailer, I felt the same way. Now I'm just kind of numb when I see her. Why, oh why must she be in every movie? Please, Mr. Apted, don't let Tilda play the Lady of the Green Kirtle!!!

  10. Aslans-mane says:

I like how eustace fainted…SO FUNNY!!!!! and i think that the trailer is AMAZING!!! cant wait to see the midnight premier!

  11. Movie Aristotle says:

The trailer looks so cool… but the plot is ALL WRONG!!!

  12. QueenLucytheValient says:

I agree totally with Lououdi the Centuar. I loooooovvvvveeeee this trailer. It is way better than the others, and the music is great. I was getting a little nervous about the composer changing. And the special effects are sooooo uch better it's just amazing.

  13. jag says:

EPIC… gah i watched that with the biggest smile on my face… the first two trailers looked very 'home made' and not great quality! but this was just AMAZING… CANT WAIT

  14. Maki says:

    OMG!
    THIS IS TOO AWESOME!!!!
I really can't wait for it, everything is just so 9000% awesome!

  15. The Archenlander says:

Ok, take my opinion or leave it. I'm sick of people saying how they are so mad that it is not like the book. We all know that it is not going to be exactly like it. The makers are basing it on the book, hence why it says "based on the epic masterpiece." i am just glad these movies are being made. We can take it and always remember the way that it was originally written, which is great for reading and then get a new perspective with the movie, which we can love as a completely different story. Books are made for readers, and Movies are made for viewers. Movies are not made for readers, otherwise why make a movie exactly the same to a book. I am completely fine with the changes, but that does not make me any less of a Narnia or C.S. Lewis fan. I love the books separately from the movies, and vice versa.

  16. Queen Elizabeth says:

The white witch looks like it could actually be the emerald witch. Weird

  17. pselpevensie says:

O…MI…ASLAN!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SOOOOOOOOO EPIC!!!!!! DEFINATLY THE BEST OF THE 3!!! MY FAVE PART: WHEN LILLIANDIL SAYS SHE CAN CHANGE FORM AND CASPIAN AND EDMUND SAY NO AT THE SAME TIME πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
I REALLY CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE TO COME OUT! LESS THAN 70!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!!!

  18. T.T says:

yep, i agree, so many things in this trailer reminded me of LWW. e.g susan with her bow and arrow in LWW trailer, lucy with a bow and arrow in VDT trailer. The 'FOR NARNIA' cry in both trailers, caspian's sword fighting in VDT trailer reminds me of the white witch's sword fighting in LWW trailer. Same music in both trailers. the feeling of fate/ future of narnia resting on them. bla bla bla. I just hope the movie is excellent.

  19. SparkyTheHappyGiraffe says:

This is the best thing ever. Just sayin'.

  20. Casue says:

    *screams like teenagge girl*
"If it is a distraction for you, I-I could change form."
"NO" *On the floor rolling with laughter*
    Lucy-roll of the eyes
    Over all looks EPIC
    Entertaining
    Pretty
    Imaginative
    Cool
Can't think of any better words

  21. Casue says:

    Narnii???
    Nei Eustace Nei!

  22. To die, will be an awfully big adventure says:

I don't think it does, Lulu.
When she appears to Edmund in his dream, I can understand how that would definitally make sense. But when she is materializing out of a green cloud, if you look closly, she is in Caspian's cabin, and CASPIAN is sleeping in a hamock at her feet…..VERY weird.

  23. Kotarki says:

Wow, do you see the part where Caspian is asleep and the Witch first appears? I wonder if they're going to try to pull an "inception" on us where the witch can only appear while one of them is asleep due to her being only a nightmare or something. I dunno.

  24. ExtremeFan says:

OMG!!!! This is realllyyy brilliant! I can't wait!!!!

  25. To die, will be an awfully big adventure says:

That would be kinda neat. But then the producers could argue that she isn't really "alive" again. She just hauntes the land of nighmares…..but it's still a neat idea!
oh, but Edmund is sorta "awake" during the dark island…..a neat thought though.

  26. ~Lava~ says:

Actually, Jadis being in Caspian's Cabin makes perfect sense if she is appearing in a dream, any book fan knows that Caspian, Ed, and Eustace were sharing a cabin. I have mixed feelings about this. So much has changed. I cringe and hold my nose at some of this stuff. The Dragon/Serpent scene kind of looks like what would happen if Saphira (Eregon) turned tan and battled the Krakon (Clash of the Titans).
The scenery is so beautiful. Liliandil is almost exactly how I pictured her (but the Ed and Caspian agreement on her was very Peter/Caspain tension-esque). I don't think I am going to dislike the stuff they have changed from the book as much, but it still may be a bit of a pill to swallow.

  27. Xenithar says:

Sweetness. I'm so excited for this movie. Looks spectacular.

  28. FrecklefaceJill says:

This is by far the best trailer of them all. I love the part where Lucy is posed to shoot an arrow. My favorite part is where Will says: "WHERE THE BLAZES AM I?!?!" and the minatour (not sure how to spell it) says, "Is it something I said?" My family watched that scene over and over!! I'm so going to see it opening day and this trailer is going to my favorites!!!!!!!

    FOR NARNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FFJ

  29. Melody says:

Sweet! πŸ˜€ I've had your shop hearted for ages; just never had any money to spend on Narnia/LotR stuff… you should put your shop URL in the website blank when you post comments on here, people might want to see. πŸ˜€

  30. Amanda Kondrael says:

Wow. Awesome CGI and VFX. If the rest of the movie has as good quality as that, it should be worth watching. Plus awesome cinematography–love the shot with Eustace and the sea serpent fighting; those lines are wonderfully done!
Even though they didn't follow the book very closely for plot (and since I'd just be stating what other people have already, I'll keep my mouth closed on that, πŸ˜‰ ) little details still stayed the same. Did anyone notice that Lucy is reading the book of spells standing with her back to the open door? Just like in the book. πŸ™‚ Love that image, it's just how I imagined it. πŸ™‚

  31. Tauriel says:

Polish (like all Slavic languages) is an inflected language, meaning that nouns change endings according to grammatical cases. In this instance, "Narnii" means "Of Narnia", as it's the genitive case. πŸ™‚

  32. Son of Adam says:

wow! this was really good! It looks awesome! I can't wait!! πŸ˜€

  33. Son of Adam says:

I like that ship in the dark with some dim light! It's chills!! πŸ˜€

  34. Narnian Meerkat says:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! That looks sooooooo COOL!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, my gosh. . . . .I REALLY liked how they put the old, very first, Narnia trailer music in their. . .brings back SO many memories. . . . .I just LOVE how Edmund is tempted to join the White Witch. . .Though I do admit the White Whitch thing is REALLY getting annoying. . . Oh well, It's still really cool!!!!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  35. Emperor Justinian says:

A mediocre trailer, but it's good to hear the old music from the LWW trailers. Good Lord, that brings back some memories.

  36. Narnian_Dreamer says:

I thought so too! The Minotaur looks quite fake I just can't get over it!

  37. Narnian Meerkat says:

EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! LOOOOOOOOVE IIIIIIT!!!!! I love how Edmund is tempted by the White Witch! And how Caspian and Ed both like Lillindil! Like Euestace as a dragon. . .He looks nice and simple. . .just how I wanted it to be. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  38. Narniapinoy says:

Coming from a movie fan not the book fan, I 100% agree with you! ^^ If they don't like the changes the don't watch it hahaha

  39. arnay says:

Shots are often used in trailers before their fully finished, hopefully he'll look more realistic in the movie.

  40. Aslanisthebest says:

So…for me, this trailer is 20% nice and 80% sad. It would be an interesting movie if it were not just changing the heart and core of the book. We can count on you, Michael Apted! …. 😐
Well, I guess I'd just better wait for December 10.

  41. Northernranger says:

YYEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! This one is is much better then the other ones!! I love it. Can't wait till December!!! Keep the story of Aslan alive!

  42. narnian resident says:

Eustace is amazing! Will Poulter is truly an excellent actor

  43. Kris says:

Yes and the comment that she "can steal the light from this world" just makes me want to go "Oh, PUH-LEEEZE! Come ON! that is so clichΓ© and unorigional. Ah, well, with all my complaints, I'm still looking forward to the movie, just looking forward to it as a movie LOOSELY based on the book. Some parts (like the one I just mentioned) are sell-out cheezy, but the rest looks pretty good.

  44. Kris says:

Ok I know everyone thought the Eustace Fainting scene was funny, and yes, while the idea of it is funny, when I acually saw it on the trailor, it looked very er…not acted well. The screaming tantrum part was great, the fainting kind of looked like a young kid would do it in a low budget school play or something. It just didn't look natural or real. hopefully that was not the final take. I could make a double dozen other complaints, But I won't because I LOVED some of the other parts so I'm trying to let the good outweigh the bad! (and the cheezy)

  45. Maenad says:

Interesting. It seems they've taken the metaphorical struggle against temptation and brought it into the literal realm to be represented by the force "threatening to steal light from this world" and the quest to place the swords. I like when characters have clear obstacles to struggle against. It won't be exactly the book, but I think it could work well.

And if you're a girl who's spent any time around teenage boys…Edmund and Caspian's reactions are spot on! πŸ˜‰

  46. Susan the Gentel says:

This trailer is far better than the previous two! No I am not a fan of the whole 7 swords thing, it is extremely cheesy. But the CGI is so much better then i thought it would be, Aslan and Ustice as a dragon look great.
When i first saw Ramus daughter i didn't know what to think but she is definitely growing on me, and Reepicheep is as good as ever! My favorite part is Lucy when it's snowing it always gives me chills.
Lastly i love how they used the music from LWW it just seems to tie the books together.
We have hope! Sail on Dawn Treader!

  47. Bookwyrm says:

Why can't a movie be like a book? Is this a law?

  48. Bookwyrm says:

I doubt it. Avatar was filmed in 3D and was designed to be viewed as a 3D movie. VDT is a post-production conversion of a movie never intended to be 3D.

  49. Bookwyrm says:

And if you don't like our comments complaining about the movie, don't read them! HAHAHAHAHA!

  50. Lord of Cair Paravel says:

    Loved the nostalgic music!! Whoo!

  51. Bookwyrm says:

And sometimes change is bad. Michael Apted isn't perfect either.

  52. CaspianX says:

    YEAH! AMAZING! SAIL ON VDT!

  53. Clodsley Mole says:

She looks like Jadis to me (you know, the White Witch who is dead?)

  54. THYSERVANT says:

No matter what they've changed, Aslan is still on the move. That's the most comforting.

  55. Aslans-mane says:

when the light flashes on the WW she looks kinda scarey if you ask me. and when they both scream "Edmund NO!!!" i think it is so cool! I think it is going to be an AWSOME movie though… even if it doesnt stick to the book

  56. narniannnn. says:

    WOW.
    this looks incredible!
the plots changes are obvious, but so far they look great!
i loved edmund and caspian both saying 'no..' at the same time to lilandil.
eustace seems perfect, thats exactly how i imagined his little temper tantrums, and his fainting was hilarious!
i like the fact edmunds role seems intensified to what it was in the book, he deserves it.
all the effects look great, im really excited!
i cant get over how much lucy has grown up, she's very beautiful.
all in all, VDT looks fantastic!

  57. Narnian_Archer says:

    My impressions:
    1. Wow, the CG graphics are a lot better in this trailer.
    2. Eustace is awesome
    3. Hmmm…the minotaur looks kind of like a toy…but ok
    4. WHAT HAPPENED TO ASLAN????? He's twice as small as he is supposed to be!! In PC he's Lucy's height, and every book he's supposed to grow bigger:
"In describing the scene Lucy said afterwards, "He was the size of an elephant," though at another time she only said, "The size of a cart-horse." (VDT)
    5. "You are most beautiful!"
"If…If this distracts you from your mission…I-I can change form"
Ok…that was an awkward line–not good at all.
    6. Oh, no, there they go about the 7 swords and 7 lords again.
Basically, I am pleased with the action, with the effects, and the acting. I am not at all pleased with the changes. I don't like them at all. I can only hope for the best…but expect the worst.

  58. Narniapinoy says:

That's too childish of you, but I fairness to you Bookwyrm you gave me an Idea LOL! HAHAHAHA ^^

  59. Tauriel says:

Because a book and a film are two completely different media that work under different rules. DT is a very episodic book that would NOT work well on film if it was adapted directly. It would feel too flat. No overarching storyline with a proper dramatic tension, climax and final resolution. Why are so many "book purists" refusing to admit this? :/
