Daniel Craig Finally Confirms ‘Narnia’ Involvement

Nearly seven months after he was first rumored for the role of Uncle Andrew in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, British actor Daniel Craig has finally confirmed his involvement during an interview with Deadline on the red carpet of his latest film ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ which was receiving its European premiere on the opening night of the London Film Festival.
Whilst he stopped short of confirming his role, or offering any other details about the project, he did mention that filming so far had been “great” and “amazing”.
In addition to Craig, ‘Narnia’ director Greta Gerwig was also present on the red carpet for the third installment of Netflix’s ‘Knives Out’ series, and was apparently seated alongside Craig’s ‘Narnia’ co-star Emma Mackey during the event.
Daniel Craig becomes just the fourth member of the cast to be officially confirmed for the film so far, alongside Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, and Denise Gough.

Exciting!
I am glad to hear that Daniel Craig is officially going to be in Narnia! Hopefully it is as Uncle Andrew as rumoured, but it would also be great if he were the voice of Aslan too – that however would appear to be less likely considering from that article it would seem he’s been acting on set. I think he’d make a great addition to the cast – a very versatile actor.
So all the rumoured actors have so far been true , which makes me think Meryl will be part of the film in some form. It’s driving me crazy knowing that Aslan has been cast but we don’t know who it is!
While I do think the most likely scenario would is that Streep is voicing Aslan, not all of the rumoured actors have ended up coming to pass.
Both Charlie XCX and Margaret Qualley were in the running for Jadis. So we’ll see!
Probably too old to be King Frank, but could he be anyone else besides Uncle Andrew or Aslan?
Cool! I’m guessing he’ll be Uncle Andrew…but I suppose King Frank isn’t quite out of the question…
Oh no not the Golden Compass guy.
You know, turn Craig’s hair into a messy gray mop and give him a slightly pointier nose, and I think he’d make a convincing Uncle Andrew.
Isn’t David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell confirmed as well? I mean we’ve literally seen them on set multiple times
@HTP, whilst we’ve seen Digory and Polly on set multiple times (more so in the case of the former than the latter) we are somewhat reliant on visual comparison alone to link them to David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, since WhatsOnNetflix did not reveal how they managed to establish the connection in their reporting, which does give some pause to declaring it as definite just yet.
I’d have to say though, if WhatsOnNetflix were wrong about the two names, then they are definitely dead ringers for whoever they got!
I kind of wish we got a less famous actor for Uncle Andrew (if that is what Craig is playing), because it would feel a bit more like a real character, not someone we’ve seen in a dozen movies. But, given Craig’s excellent talent in acting, I’m sure it will be ok.
And if more people go to see a Narnia movie because of an A-Lister, that’s good. Because the more ticket sales, the more Narnia movies they’ll make. And we might finally get all 7 books filmed.
Oh gross
I don’t particularly like the idea of Daniel Craig as Aslan, but of course, I would entertain the idea in contrast to what else has been proposed. But I think he’ll fit Uncle Andrew nicely; he’s able to handle the comedy element well, as seen in the recent Knives Out movies.
Is “whilst” now the new trendy word?
