Emma Mackey Speaks on Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Casting For First Time
In a recent interview with MovieWeb, actress Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Barbie) briefly commented on her involvement in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew for Netflix — marking her first public remarks about the project.
When asked about stepping into Narnia as Jadis the White Witch, Mackey was careful not to reveal any story details:
Well, there’s zilch I can tell you about it other than it’s a wonderful, wonderful process so far, and it’s an adventure. And Greta is someone that I have immense respect for, and who’s a friend and a life force. And I’m just very fortunate to be on one of her sets. Truly.

Mackey secured the role in April after a competitive search that drew interest from several high-profile names including Charlie XCX and Margaret Qualley.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew opens exclusively in IMAX theatres next year on November 26th, before arriving on streaming for Christmas Day.

Cool quote!
I’m glad she has positive things to say!
By the way, is 26 November a release date that the production announced? Or is that a Narniaweb speculation due to the timing of Thanksgiving?
@Jonathan Paravel, re: the release date, it’s partly because they’ve been pretty clear about it releasing ‘on’ Thanksgiving (not just generally ‘around’ Thanksgiving) but it’s also because we know they have planned a four week IMAX theatrical window, which ends on Christmas Eve (hence it starts on Nov 26th), with the Netfllix streaming starting the day after on Christmas Day.
As with any movie, there’s always the chance they could tweak it nearer to the time, but at present you can be fairly certain that the plan is to release in IMAX cinemas on Nov 26th for four weeks.
