This is the moment we’ve been waiting for since Prince Caspian came out — the unveiling of the first trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader! This film has had a tough journey from the book to the screen; for a while we didn’t even know if it would be made. The voyage isn’t over, but at long last the trailer has arrived in all its glory to tantalize Narnia fans around the world.

In the same bedroom, all of a sudden the painting starts gushing water into the room and Edmund, Lucy and Eustace look dumbfounded
Eustace: What’s going on here?
Lucy: Edmund the painting!
Eustace yells and pulls it off the wall. Edmund and Lucy try to help, but water is rapidly filling the bedroom. Lucy screams and falls and suddenly the room is completely underwater with furniture floating around. They swim upwards towards the surface and just as they reach it and gasp for air Lucy turns and sees the Dawn Treader sailing towards them.
Lucy: Edmund!
Caspian and Lucy are hoisted out of the water onto the ship. Lucy, now in Narnian clothes looks into a mirror and sees her reflection and Aslan looking back at her.
Lucy: Aslan.
Aslan: Welcome. You have come far, but your journey lies beyond.

Lucy blows across the cover of the Magician’s Book and the letters on the front of it arrange into The Book of Incantations. She opens it. She sees a reflection of herself on one page and then begins to transform into Susan.
Lucy: I’m beautiful.
Lucy hears a lion roar and jumps away from the book as pages quickly turn away from the page. Next shot is Lucy standing in the Magician’s room as snow is falling all around her. She gazes up in wonder.
Coriakin: You have an extraordinary destiny.
Reepicheep quickly climbs up the mast of the Dawn Treader where he reaches the crow’s nest and looks out smiling.
Coriakin: Something greater than you could have imagined.

I love it too! Looks really good, although some of the effects seem to be of the work in progress variety, like the Dawn Treader in the painting and the smoke tendrils. Also; I hate to say it, but the White Witch does appear where you expect her to appear. 😉 (though it has never crossed my mind while reading the book) Btw, if that's Bill Nighy doing Reep, then he really managed to make it sound like Eddie Izzard's Reep. 😉

Yes, I told earlier I wasn't going to watch anything until the movie came out. Well, that obviously didn't work! This trailer is beyond anything I was hoping for! It's AMAZING!!! It's the Narnia I saw in my mind when reading the books! It's AWESOME!!! VDT is going to be so super-duper-epically cool!

I love everything in it. And a lot seems to be by the book. The only things bothering me is Caspian going to the worlds end when he shouldn't have. And Peter and Susan in Narnian clothes?? What does that mean? I hope it's a flashback or something else that doesn't really make them appear in Aslan's Country. All in all I love it!

I join those who did love it indeed! I watched it again and loved it even more. I really like when Lucy was with the book and the part where the painting flooded the room. A few parts like the Anna and Will Cameos, the white witch, some things that were said did puzzle me but I'm pretty much very excited for it!

I do not know what to say…but I've seen it.
I stared at the countdown hard untill it finally reached zero, then it took me about ten minutes on two computers to get through to the site! But it was worth it!! It has a different style then the other two I believe. I'm not exactly sure what's happening there with Peter and Susan in Narnian clothing, I'm going to look at it a bit more….
Overall, I am very happy! We got to see a good amount of scenes!
The only part I'm uneasy about is Caspian being at the world's end. Why is he there? They must then have changed what Aslan told Caspian on the ship. Perhaps Aslan will send him back?
Well I'll just wait to see what you all have to say when everyone gets a chance to comment on it. Besides that I'm not going to let it bring down any of my excitement, I'm still very happy!!

AHHHHHHH!!!! My sisters and I counted the seconds. We watched LWW to bide the time. Then we watched the trailer twice more to make sure it was real. Then twice more just because. And then I'll watch it five more times tomorrow.
I'm too tired right now to make any kind of analysis of it. I did notice that Ed seems to be having trouble adjusting (again) to not being a king, and Lucy has Susan's bow and arrows, and other things…*faints from overexcitement and exertion*
I have no idea what to think… Wow… I'm kind of concerned with the way things seem to be going here… Lilliandil: "The fate of Narnia depends on you." That makes me a bit nervous. I think I have to watch it a few more times to actually start making opinions.

Oh, wow. I didn't expect to still be awake, but, oh, wow. I've only watched it once so far, so this is initial reaction. Let's just say a tingle shot up my spine when I watched it. I CAN'T WAIT FOR DEC 10!!!!! On the other hand, it seems that the trailer has answered some of our questions while bringing up new ones. Lilliandil looks gorgeous, the painting looks amazing, the magician's book is more than I dreamed…what else can I say? Definitely amazing!!!
Okay, I've seen it two more times now, and I have a few more things to say. It looks like our suspicions about the WW are correct in that she appears to Edmund on the Dark Island. It also seems that Edmund is going through the same insecurities about being treated like a kid as Peter did in PC. Which probably explains why the WW tempts him with the prospect of being her king. Also, I almost wonder if what Lilliandil says–"The fate of Narnia rests in your hands"–has something to do with the "unfathomable fate" rumor and with the reason Caspian goes to world's end (not exactly happy about that, but, oh, well). Oh, and btw, fantasia_kitty, I'm pretty sure the line about "this place just gets weirder and weirder" is said by Eustace, not the Chief Dufflepud. It has a distinct British accent to it, and is more logical when Eustace says it.

Are they trying to bring in some LWW stuff? The snow, the White Witch, the "But I'M King" effect in the beginning? Susan and Peter returning? Classic "bow and arrow" shot with Lu instead of Su?
Why do we have this "fate of Narnia in your hands" thing? Why is Edmund holding a blue sword? To fight creatures from Middle Earth?
I think the scene with the painting could have bene done better, but it works. I would rather see more believable duffflepods. More of Caspian and Eustace please?

You can actually see gael, i fu look at the clip between 1:03 – 1:05… you can see lucy and Gael standing side by side on the left hand side of the ship… very quick, but lets hope that this just means her part in the film is also very, very small!

I imagined if the green one is involved she isn't the white witch but is taking the form of her specifically to mess with Edmund's head.
Green? As in the green serpent that killed Rilian's mother in Silver Chair. Will they still make use of the White Witch as the "green serpent" that killed the prince's mother (as some kind of flash back). I mean they have already taken liberty of the movies at some extent this could be possible. Movie makers are also concerned for the continuity of movies using elements that are present in the previews movie.

I enjoyed the trailer very, very much – positively epic! The only thing is, I'm worried about how little Caspian there seems to be in all the promotional material we've seen so far, and to me it was always Caspian's oddyssey, journey of self-discovery and a test as a leader outside his land… oh, well, I hope the film will have more Caspian than the promos!
I noticed they cut out his dialogue from the trailer. There's a part of the footage that looks like it was also shown at BIOLA, but Caspian's response to Edmund is missing in the trailer.
Yeah, I desperately hope they change that in the upcoming trailers/spots, as for now Caspian is the most omitted of the main characters, while (at least to me) in the book he was definitely one of the most important. Ay, no good… I hope his part in the film is satisfying, I always saw VoDT as Caspian's story, while PC was still more Pevensies' story than anyone else's.
I think they'd expand his presence in the trailers more the closer we get to the release date. Like you I also feel this is his story too! Maybe they're saving Caspian and Eustace for the next trailers. Caspian is the first character on the character section for narnia.com so I think they have something planned.
I very much hope you're right! Caspian (and also Eustace) were to me the main characters of the story, and I hope they will maintain so in the film. Ah, unless that list was alphabetical, it gives us some hope indeed 🙂

WHAT!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! This can't be happening! They're going to change Edmund like they changed Peter in the last movie, and he's going to be all, "I want to be king.I should be king. I want to live in the past. And because I say I want it, it should happen!" Everyone loved how Edmund was the one who stood against the Witch in the last movie, and now all that's going to be completely contradicted in this movie. Speaking of which, why did they even include her in this movie anyway?

Exactly, I agee. He and Caspian had a glitch on the island with golden lake, perhaps his attitude shown on the trailer is to make that argument less 'out of the blue' as it might seem on a film.
I remember the Deathwater lake thing, & Ed & Caspian are about to fight about the whole "King ego" thing. Sheesh. Oh, and they did get a little violent in the BBC VDT film.

Was it just me, or did anyone else think the logo at the end of the trailer looked like it was made out of dragon scales?
I think they are made to look like the cobblestones that make up a village we might encounter when seeing the movie…. on one of the Three Lone Islands, perhaps?

WOW, THAT'S GREAT! Even though I'm in the mainland of China, I've managed to get the trailer! I believe this is going to be a great film, especially in the days of CHRISTMAS!!!

i liked it and all but the LWW was the best trailer then PC had more drama…but this one is cool too…when thery were entering narnia in the VDT trailer…..it wasn't that impressiv as PC or LWW…still likedit! XD!!

I love this trailer, though I am confused in some parts…The WW however, I think it might make more sense here than it may have even in Prince Caspian; I mean, it looks like they're at Dark Island and that island is supposed to send everyone into their darkest nightmares/dreams whatever, so if she only appears to Edmund while they're there, then it makes sense. Aslan roaring at the end, I don't know if it's just me, but he looks like something out of a computer game, I don't know why. Love the beginning especially, even if I can't recognise anyone!

For me, this is ho the trailer and marketing for Prince Caspian should have been. The focus on the Pevensies would have made PC do bigger business. So many non-fans had no idea PC was a sequel to LWW. But this trailer makes it look like more of a sequel to LWW than PC was.
I love the books, but these aren't books, they're movies. Don't watch a trailer expecting the book, or what's the point? Sure, the book should inspire the film, but there has to be some creative give to make the experience work on a theatrical level.
I loved how much screentime Edmund received. Will Poulter already looks like he'll be a great Eustace. He's such a great little actor. I think some of Lucy's lines sounded a bit too rehearsed or off.
The book scene was fantastic! And for me, the final shot of the Pevensies shows the producers are trying to bring this film 'home'. PC was an enjoyable film but far too much of a departure too soon from LWW. This film looks 'magic'. Though I do hope HHB is more mature. By then the audience should be older and up for it.
This trailer has brought me back to Narnia, and I can't wait for this adventure to hit the big screen.

The second, sweeping, epic part of music is "Heart of courage" by Two Steps From Hell. Tracking trailer music is sort of my hobby, heh 😛 Anyway, this one is pretty old, and I was surprised they used it instead of looking for something new, but it was perfect!
This trailer doesn't look as exciting as the P.C.one…..I hope I'm wrong though, cause I've waited and waited for this trailer!!!!!!!

I agree, the PC trailer stirred much more adrenaline and anticipation in me than this one did. The choice of music was better, you had the feeling of something fantastically amazing approaching step by step and my cuiosity was piqued. As per Ed, well, he and Caspian did have a spat on the island with golden lake, perhaps Ed's whiny attitude serves to prepare a reason for that altercation in the film? Time will tell. Meanwhile, I think I like what I see 🙂
