NZ Environmental Group Objects to Flock Hill Usage

A NZ environmental group has objected to a decision by the local council for the area where the LWW battle scene will be filmed. “Forest & Bird” said building a 5 metre wide road into the area spoils the scenery, which is what attracted the film company to it in the first place. A spokesman for Forest & Bird said the council’s own rules require special resource consent for construction of that sort, and they claim the film company did not have that consent when work started. The council has granted consent, but F&B said there was no public notification. The Selwyn County Council’s Chief Executive has said he understood the conditions for resource consent were largely met, and that the compliance staff were satisfied.
