Narnia 10 Minute Preview Shown at Seattle Pacific University

NarniaWebber Ellesar attended a Narnia on Tour event at her university, and submits the following report:

“Tonight, Narnia on Tour came to my school, Seattle Pacific University. It was basically a faculty panel, with four professors from the university, Dr. Mike Macdonald, professor of philosophy and European studies; Dr. Kerry Dearborn, associate professor of theology; professor Kim Gilnett, and professor John West, associate professor of political science. All of the professors are members of the C.S. Lewis Institute (I think) at Seattle Pacific University, and they really knew a lot about C.S. Lewis and Narnia. Each professor presented on a different aspect of the Chronicles of Narnia, with Dr. Macdonald focusing more on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, with Dr. Dearborn focusing more on The Silver Chair. Professor Kim Gilnett talked about the continuing relevance of Lewis to children, reading some schoolchildren’s letters to the audience as an example. Finally, Professor West used his own childhood as an example as he spoke about surviving childhood with the help of the Chronicles of Narnia.

Finally was the crowning glory of the night. As a special treat, we were able to watch a special 10 minute super trailer from the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie. They had gotten special permission to show the 10 minute super trailer, but before they started the clip, the representative said that the Chronicles of Narnia would be great because of three reasons. The first reason
was because Disney wasn’t producing the film. Disney is helping to co-finance the movie, while Walden Media is the one doing the filming. The next reason is because everything had to be cleared through Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis’s stepson, first, and the last reason was because Andrew Adamson is the one directing the film. He directed Shrek and Shrek 2, so he knows his special effects. What the representative said, was that Douglas Gresham said that the movie would be unbelievable and that it would blow you away. Finally came the time we had been waiting for, they started the 10 minute clip. It was basically a super trailer with scenes from the beginning of the movie to the end of the movie. The very first scene you see is the blitz over London. You see the planes flying over London and dropping their bombs, and then you see Edmund looking out the window, and his mother calling him over and sending both Edmund and Peter to the shelter where Lucy and Susan waited. The next scene they showed was the children at the train station, being sent away to the countryside to escape from the bombing of London. The next thing you see is Edmund coming into the room with the wardrobe, and him going through the wardrobe to Narnia, then Lucy’s first entrance to Narnia and meeting Mr. Tumnus as well as all of the children getting into Narnia. One thing that they showed was that, true to the book, the White Witch’s sled is pulled by white reindeer through the snow when she first meets up with Edmund. They showed a small snippet of when Aslan at the Stone Table and the battle between the Narnian forces and the White Witch’s forces, including Aslan reappearance.

The clip was far too captivating to be able to capture everything, but I will tell you this.the 10-minute super trailer blew all of the other trailers away. This movie is going to rock and I can’t wait to see it!”
