New Set Photo of the Dragon Cave?

MundoNarnia has a new set photo. We don’t know for sure if it’s for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or not, but it looks like it could be the dragon cave full of treasure.

Dragon Cave?

They also have some concept art and set photos from an earlier shoot. You can check them all out here.

Thanks to Narniamiss for the heads up!

I agree. Not what I imagined. I'm gonna pray hard for this to get good and no spoiled up like PC.

  2. 220chrisTian says:

The other pics are all on the MundoNarnia site, which the news story gives a link to. 😉

  3. waleed sajjad says:

Ahhhhhhh!!!! finally more news i nearly lost it wenever looked ther was nothing new!!
that sure looks like the dragon cave!
im so crazy for the next movie that i made the Dawn Treader my DESKTOP!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Starlily says:

Even if he does have rings, they're probably rings that kings wear to show their power. King rings. 🙂 In history, rings don't always have to mean marriage. Like you said, they can be just for dress up. I wonder if he wears them all through the movie? I would think they'd get in the way…

  5. Samuel the Magnificent says:

    finally some more news!

  6. Long Live King Skandar says:

It isn't in Spaninsh, it's in Portugese. I think I heard that MundoNarnia was a Portugese site, but don't quote me on this. But since they're similar, I can tell that the paragraphs above and below the pics are just summarizing the plot released by Fox/Walden and the release date/cast of major characters(below) and summarizing what they've filmed so far (above), like locations, nothing really specific. Actually, I think it's mentioned that some of the scenes in the concept art were of the scenes before the Pevensies and Eustace enter Narnia. But the person writing keeps saying he/she doesn't know if it's related to VDT, but it's safe to guess so. I wish they had more info to give all of us Narnia nuts:) but I'm so grateful for the pics now I dont know what to do with myself…*cheers*

  7. Polly Plummer says:

That looks great. It's wonderful to have news at last! From the photos of England – it looks as if they're going to expand on Lewis's description of what was happening with the Pevensies before they go into Narnia. Like they did with the bomb raid in LWW

  8. narnian resident says:

wow how long has it been like almost a month? or maybe just a few weeks. idk im just glad we have something! i love that picture of the huge wave, i wonder what that could be for? i still am not sure of where they are now-the crew and set. did someone say the Gold Coast? i cant remember if they told us already.

  9. narnian resident says:

it would be cool if possibly they have a scene of susan going off to america, or peter with the professor, but i dont think they will, they dont have the actors. it would be cool though to have a scene of lucy and edmund driving up to eustace's place, or something like that. im sure they'll have the scene where he teases them about narnia in the beiginning.

  10. narnian resident says:

they moved the dawn treader to a new place, so they can continue filming, but im not really sure where. and then after that i believe they're going to give it to that guy who bought it(how could he i dont know). and i wonder how you can use the word halleluyah and bloody in the same sentence…are you trying to sound british? 🙂 lol because they use that word to describe something annoying or terrible.

  11. narnian resident says:

like, "where is that bloody map?" with the british accent of course. 🙂

  12. narnian resident says:

it looks small too. perhaps a miniature?

  13. tenthofthatname says:

It's a big ring on his finger, the hand holding the DVD he's autographing.

  14. tenthofthatname says:

I think the same as Starlily, it's a ring to signify his royalty or some such. He's wearing it in another one of his King Caspian photos, the costume with the brown coat that has slashed sleeves.

  15. Anonymous Narnian says:

I love the 40's era trucks in Mundo's gallery!

  16. King Skandar the Just says:

YAY!!!!!!!! news!!! I hope that it's the dragon's cave… but it's kind of a light color though.

  17. iLiveInNarnia says:

Ah…finally new news!!! 😀 This looks quite interesting. I agree that it does look like a cave full of treasure…we'll just have to wait and see! Thank's for breaking this what seemed never-ending time of no news with this awesome picture!! haha

  18. narniafan4ever says:

haha…I think we all got spoiled. Just look at most of the comments….(people freaking out cause we finally have news….) lol 😀

  19. narniafan4ever says:

That sentence made me think of National Treasure 1….haha. *ahem*…anyways…

  20. Eden says:

Here is a very rough translation:

"VotDT is filming inside a studio and therefore we are not getting much news. While I was looking for something, I found a photo of the set of the movie that is not on the ship set. Unfortunately, it does not show anything important.

I found another photo of a set but there is no confirmation one is for Voyage. It seems a large place with metal objects spread around the ground that, although it will go away for the movie (not sure what this means), goes together with the scenery of Dragon Island or even with Deathwater Island. This scenery could be what was described in a previous report.

A photo of Ben Barnes behind the scenes of the filming in Redland, Cleveland Point – Gold Coast, which was taken in the set of the ship.

To finish, some drawings that I found on the site of one of the concept artists for the movie (there is no confirmation if the drawings are connected with Voyage of the Dawn) and a few photos that I do not remember if I showed before; they show one of the first days of the filming of the movie in which they filmed scenes that would go on before the Pevensie and Eustace get into Narnia."

    Hope this helps!

  21. narniafan4ever says:

You sound like me….I do little dances around the house when I am happy…lol

  22. narniafan4ever says:

    nice. 🙂

  23. narniafan4ever says:

I sure hope so…It really sets the whole mood in the book and, in a way, gives the audience a glimpse of the characters and their personalities. 😀

  24. narniafan4ever ♥ says:

I am getting soooooooooooooooooooooo excited for this movie! yay!!!!!! *jumps with joy, but then quickly attempts to recover and act like a normal human being so as not to scare anyone else around…*

  25. decarus says:

This is weird news. It is news that we really don't know whether or not it is actual news. I don't really think it looks like a cave, but it is a rock with some gold at the bottom. I have no opinion.

  26. always narnian says:

hmmmmm…How interesting. It probably is something like that. Who knows though. =D

  27. Fire Fairy says:

That was what I thought. There's no way any actor's could fit. Besides, they used a lot of miniatures in the first two movies. A definite possibility.

  28. Fire Fairy says:

That helps a LOT. It answers some of the previous questions about whether the concept world was really for VDT or not. Thank you!

  29. Fire Fairy says:

I did the exact same thing… (with the DT as my desktop…)

  30. Fire Fairy says:

Definitely. I always wondered what it was like for the Pevensies in the real world, and I really loved how they went into that for the first two movies. I can't wait to see how they go about it for VDT.

  31. Fire Fairy says:

Wow, I feel stupid. At first I couldn't figure out what half the pictures had to do with Narnia. Then I read the comments….duh. *smacks self on forehead*. Wake up! Of course they're for the real world portion of the movie!

Love all the 1940's people on their bikes, though. I think that would be a very nice touch.

  32. Fire Fairy says:

Makes sense. Besides, they usually make two or three differently-scaled miniatures just for one scene. I think it's safe to assume this is merely a miniature.

  33. Fire Fairy says:

Same for me, but it almost seems better than what I imagined…

Oh, well. Enough speculation. It'll end up the way it'll end up, so no use getting worked up over what might be…

  34. Fire Fairy says:

Interesting. Does this ring on Caspian's finger have any significance with the upcoming movie? Or are we simply over-analyzing a mere accessory that Ben Barnes decided to wear on a random day? Both are very possible (especially since we Narnia nuts over-analyze every little bit of news…). I would guess it's part of his costume, just because he's in costume in the picture.

  35. Fire Fairy says:

I'm just as excited as everybody else that we finally have some news, but I don't dare go all spastic like everybody else (I'm very close to it, though). That just goes to show just how much we all depend on NarniaWeb to keep our sanity intact (or keep up a healthy level of insanity, if you want to look at it that way…). I must say I really appreciate this bit of news, though, whether it's really for VDT or not. I'm just glad to get some new photos to look at. I think it's safe to say the first picture is for VDT, but I'm not so sure about the other ones. It's very possible, though.

  36. 220chrisTian says:

What about this story? Nobody's posted it on NW yet and it's recent hard news! 🙁

  37. tenthofthatname says:

Fire Fairy: I think it's part of his costume too, which is nice to see but I am a costume nut so it's one of those things I fall for. It would be nice if it has a backstory but it's not required. I just love seeing Caspian looking kingly in some way, shape, or form.

  38. Lillyput90 says:

Yep, that sums it up!!!! I almost jumped out of my chair when I got onto the website and saw something new in the news stream!

  39. Empress of the Lone Islands says:

That was nice of them to give that care package! I would think they would get a bit homesick after being away from home for so long.

  40. Mirima Rosetrader says:

Yes!!! News!!! Finally! I have been checking Narniaweb.com every day and nothing until now! Come on spies do your stuff! Good news though. It looks like it could possibly maybe be a dragon cave, but it looks far from completion. It needs to be bigger and the stone needs to be darker this is a dragon's cave people, but good work. Sail on VDT!!! Give us more news!

  41. JadistarkilleR says:

its not a miniature (thats the Movieworld Studios backlot).
its just the cave entrance, or perhaps a small part of the cave where actors will be interacting. they can always add the rest of the structure in post production

  42. JadistarkilleR says:

yes definitely helps a great deal. thanks for translating Eden! 🙂

  43. JadistarkilleR says:

its a costume ring. its part of King Caspian's overall look. he switches costumes but a few things are part of the "standard" Caspian attire– the ring, long hair (worn lose or half tied), the sword Rhindon (except for that one time we saw when it was with Edmund) and black boots.

i'm a little iffy with the addition of the ring, mostly because King Caspian is swerving a little too close to the Strider-look already (which in all honesty, it cant be helped). but the ring is kinda unnecessary, unless of course they added something about it in the story.

my friend just mentioned to me… Captain Jack Sparrow has a large ring on his index finger too. and it looks similar to that (green/blue with a silver band). ohhh boy, and i was really hoping they would distance themselves from anything POTC related.

  44. The Batman says:

I love the WWII pics too! And yay, that must be another pic of that truck from this story! http://www.narniaweb.com/2009/08/narnia-role-for-historic-bedford-truck/

  45. Fire Fairy says:

That's very sweet! I think the picture of the two kids with the faun is absolutely adorable.

  46. tenthofthatname says:

JadistarkilleR: I agree with you he has a Strider look going for him which disappointed me at first because I really enjoyed his younger look as Prince Caspian. I didn't feel a beard was necessary and the wavy extensions will be missed, but at the same time he does carry the look well and it definitely makes him look older, more than three years in my opinion. But then again I am one of those people who thought he looked 17 in PC. Now he looks mid to late 20s, not that I mind. Hopefully the ring is something to signify kingship. I looked through my folder of VDT set pictures and so far that ring is the only piece of jewelry I've seen on him between two different costumes. The copyrighted photos of him in the wine colored coat are my favorite but his left hand is obscured in all of them sigh. I noticed Lucy carrying her cordial but there's a Telmarine hilt at Edmund's side in those photos, Rhindon's ownership continues to baffle.

    Don't mind me, I couldn't help myself.

  48. Starlily says:

Thank you King Skandar and Eden! That was very helpful. 🙂

  49. Starlily says:

It felt like a month, didn't it? 😀

  50. Starlily says:

Interesting to read about the treats they sent in the package. Minstrels are big, non-colored M&Ms? It sounds so funny to my American ears! I like it!

  51. Eden says:

Oh, well I'm glad it helped! Hopefully I didn't translate it wrong…. 🙁 But I'm pretty sure I got at least the basic meaning right. 😉

finally some news!!!!we haven't had any in ages!!!!I REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY HOPE THAT IT'S THE DRAGON CAVE!!!WHAT DO YOU THINK?DO YOU THINK IT'S THE DRAGON'S CAGE?

  53. narnia 4 ever! says:

TOTALLY,i can't wait to find out more

  54. Aunt Letty says:

Thanks for that. Never heard of it. I don't spend that much time on the net.

  55. Aunt Letty says:

Right on, Fire Fairy! You said it.

  56. Eilonwy Arwen Kenobi of Narnia says:

I'm just glad that there's finally an update. I'm waiting for another podcast too! You know if that cave is for VODT, then that's great…I think it looks cool. I was really starting to get worried when I kept checking narniaweb and there was literally no news for a few weeks…YAY!!!

  57. Aunt Letty says:

    Tenthofthatname,

Thanks. I've only just realized that everyone is talking about a website that I didn't know existed. Duh. Call me old an techno-challenged. Or, busy.

  58. Aunt Letty says:

I love the costume element, too, being a professional, as it were. The ring, as others have speculated, looks very much like a signet ring such as a person of rank would wear long ago. As such, it works as an important symbol of his royalty. But, it's also the sort of thing he might leave behind as proof of Trumpkin's official stewardship. It would be funny, though, if it just happened to be something Ben Barnes picked up in a shop that day and decided to wear. Not likely, since he's in costume.

I was thinking he's got this whole Orlando Bloom resemblance going on…(shudder!) is it just me?

  59. Aunt Letty says:

    Best opener ever:

"There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it."

Those first two pages are chock full of hints to the "real world" story going on between Narnia visits. I've always wondered what exam Peter was studying for. It doesn't sound like a term-exam in a regular class. More like some kind of entrance exam. What do you suppose someone who's already ruled a kingdom would choose to study at university? Theater, maybe? Or, music? Ahhhh, I know: biology or medicine. Just in case. You know.

  60. Aunt Letty says:

I wonder if someone can help me? I wanted to see all these pictures you're mentioning, so I went to the MundoNarnia site (yeah, I'm so techno-savvy, I thought MundoNarnia was a person's username until you enlightened me) and as far as I can tell, you have to register to look at any of the "fotos". So, I tried to, but got to a step in the registration process with a bunch of asterisked questions in Portuguese…it can't be that you all speak Portuguese, how did you get to these "fotos"?

It's not an emergency or anything, but if someone would be willing to enlighten me, I'd be grateful.
