The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Movie Storybook and Other Tie-Ins

We’ve held off posting about this book in the hopes that it would turn up for sale in the United States, but thus far, it doesn’t look like it’s going to. You may have already seen it when AslansCountry reported on the cover for it last week, but here is another movie tie-in for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: The Movie Storybook

Thus far, the only English speaking countries it seems to be available in are the UK and Australia. Pre-ordering from Amazon.co.uk is here. And you can pre-order from HarperCollinsAustralia’s website here.

Also, for those in Germany, there are a couple books available through German Publisher Ueberreuter that we haven’t seen anywhere else.

Die Reise auf der Morgenröte: Das Buch zum Film (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Book of the Film)

Pre-order is available here.

Die Reise auf der Morgenröte. Fotos aus Narnia (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Photos out of Narnia)

Pre-order is available here.

Thanks to icarus for compiling all of this information for us!

Looks good. Can't wait for the movie.

  2. dinode says:

Peter and Susan aren't in any of them. That's good.

  3. LB says:

what am i looking at right now ?! do my eyes deceive me.. the last book cover screams perfection. i would read any book cover to cover if this photo was on the front. 😉

  4. decarus says:

Someone needs to go looking for these. Even if you don't buy them there might be something interesting inside.

  5. DamselJillPole says:

I like them, I just feel as if Lilliandil should be on the cover instead of the minotaur. But I agree with Dinode! At least Susan and Peter aren't on there.

  6. Narnia Ultimate Fan says:

I agree with both of you. But in any movie there is always a contrast between good and evil.

  7. Jana says:

    ori: Me too 🙂

  8. Bulgy Bear says:

Re: The linked AslansCountry article – Lucy does look waaaaay less creepy on the Movie Storybook cover compared with how she looks on the similar montage from the Theatre Standee. 😉

  9. Omac the centaur says:

ya she does. that had scared me for a sec. i was like: WHAT DID THEY DO TO LUCY?? lol

  10. Adeona says:

Oh yes! First thing I noticed was the improvent, Lucy-wise. : )

  11. Pepper Darcy says:

That was the first thing I noticed too! The cover of the movie *should* be good then, at least for whatever pic they choose of Lu =)

  12. Liberty Hoffman says:

I'm loving the new shot of Lucy in the storybook cover! yay!

  13. Son of Rillian says:

    i love the first picture

  14. always narnian says:

😛 😛 Cool pics. Are they coming out with a movie comapnion guide???

  15. always narnian says:

Lucy is so pretty now, but yeah, that one picture of her was very strange.

  16. Grace Bailey says:

I was wondering the same thing.Checked out HarperCollins website. No luck so far,but fingers crossed !

  17. icarus says:

Its looking very very unlikely there will be a Movie Companion.

  18. WillowofNarnia says:

Why wouldn't there be? I thought earlier this year that something had been said about the guy who wrote the movie companions for LWW and PC was working on one for VDT. Stay hopeful! 🙂 Just because we haven't heard about these books and the movie companion coming out in the US or at all doesn't mean that it won't. There is still time before the movie comes out. 🙂

  19. WillowofNarnia says:

Can a person from the US order something with American money on a British site?

  20. icarus says:

The other Movie tie-ins are all set to be released in just two months time, and HarperCollins have already published their release schedules running well into next year. There is absolutely no sign of it. I could understand that the studio would want to keep the contents of any such book a secret, but it would make no sense for the publisher to keep the entire existence of such a book a secret so close to release.

As for your other question, there have been a few significant interviews with Perry Moore (who wrote the first companion) and Ernie Malik (who wrote the second) and I don't believe either of them ever mentioned working on a third.

Its not impossible that there will be one, and they may yet surprise us, but it just looks very unlikely right now, so i'm not going to get my hopes up.

  21. Bulgy Bear says:

Of course. Since you are paying by card anyway the currency is irrelevant. 🙂

  22. Omac the centaur says:

wait! there r some eyes on the pic beside the minotaur to the right… is that her or the white witch? i would think it would be Lilliandil.

  23. Starlily says:

Yeah, I like the new Lucy picture much better than the old one. 🙂 She looks much more natural.

  24. narnian resident says:

Lucy looks better in the first cover than what we saw in the poster. what i dont like though is why a random minotaur is there and not a significant character, like Lilliandil. for some reason they just love that minotaur :-/

  25. fantasia_kitty says:

Yep, I bought my entire Harry Potter set from amazon.co.uk with no problems. 🙂

  26. Silver the Wanderer says:

Definitely. I also like the Photoshop job better on this book cover than the last one that looks similar…it's far from perfect, but at least Lucy's collar isn't cutting into Eustace's head anymore. 😉

  27. Omac the centaur says:

hey, look be side the minotaur to the right. someones eyes… Lilliandil perhaps?

  28. High Queene ShellyBelly says:

hey, maybe they read our comments here and took heed!

  29. That would be awesome to have a movie-companion book! Too bad WETA didn't work with VDT, then they would have the VDT WETA book.

  30. High Queene ShellyBelly says:

i don't understand their hesitant attitudes about this, after all PC DID make 415 million!?! what is so shabby about that? and with a lame story to boot! and poor advertising! VDT is wayyy more popular with people than the PC book, so why are they being so hesitant?

  31. High Queene ShellyBelly says:

looks like aslan has grown a beard!

  32. NarniaGirl says:

I like the 1st one but that last one is awful. Why does Edmund look pregnant and constipated? Caspian looks weird too. They couldn't manage to find a better shot of these two?

  33. midnightmoon says:

@LB, I know right, the 3rd cover is the best cover,Happy Birthday Ben.

  34. Bookwyrm says:

1st is awful, the other two are good.

  35. Warrior 4 Jesus says:

Yes, the first cover design has too much of everything. It's too busy and just looks silly.

  36. Warrior 4 Jesus says:

Haha! Love your comment. Maybe because Edmund is pregnant and um… needs fibre. You think that's departing too much from the original story? Goodness. 😛 But seriously, it's just the way the tunic and trousers look on his lean frame.

  37. waggawerewolf27 says:

I did look for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader Story book, but it isn't due until November. I'm still looking for Voyage of the Dawn Treader publicity Down Under.

  38. Aslan's Meadow says:

I am praying that they come out with the Movie Companion, they were so amazing with LWW and PC

  39. Alambil and Tarvis says:

WHY IS NONE OF THIS IN THE U.S.?!?! The U.S. is getting almost nothing in the way of marketing right now…:(

  40. always narnian says:

Yes, I liked the movie companions. I have both of them. It would seem silly not to have one. I wonder why they haven't done anything with that??? They had an LWW one out a while before the movie came out.

  41. always narnian says:

I don't see any eyes really!

  42. always narnian says:

I like the first one the best 🙂

  43. Omac the centaur says:

well, its there… in the water. 🙂

  44. Sir Jack says:

woooow.. at last some thing for us germans!.. but i think i'll still get it in engish anyway.. german is a terrible language!

  45. QueenLucy12 says:

    I kinda see it!

  46. QueenLucy12 says:

ya i like the first one, but they have GOT to take out that minotaur

  47. High Queene ShellyBelly says:

that was the one good thing about disney, lot of good merch and books-though the companion book decision was walden?

  48. wow es para el DVD de las cronicas de narnia la travesia de viajero del alba que va a salir el dia octubre del 2010 ¡¡¡

  49. Same here. Lucy looks much better.

  50. Reepicheep says:

yeah, There shouldn't have a minotaur. I hope they don't change much from the book.

  51. Aslan's Meadow says:

@Omac I don't think they are eyes, I looked…it might just be bad design.

  52. Aslan's Meadow says:

  54. Ambervina says:

Total agreement. Lu looks like..well, Lu…again.

  55. Aslan's Meadow says:

  56. Aslan's Meadow says:

I think it's just bad production.

  57. Omac the centaur says:

    could be…

  58. QueenLucy12 says:

no sé si la cobertura real de la película es, probablemente alrededor de noviembre ya ummm???? pero aparte de eso no tengo ni idea

  59. eclipse14 says:

I love the first one too!!! It looks like the most wonderful painting until you enlarge it!
