Rumor: New Characters in 3D Version
Get out those salt shakers, because Ain’t It Cool News delivers up a whopper of a rumor this morning. According to Harry, “…for the last 8 months, I’ve had a source telling me that the 3D on this film is going to blow people’s minds. I can’t say who, but I will say if they’re excited, I’m excited. I’ve heard rumors of characters you’ll only SEE in the 3D version of the film. And it makes the William Castle in me giggle for days.” You can read the whole article here. Thanks Griffle.
That's…..kinda dissapointing 🙁 I don't know if my theaters are going to have 3d and if not, and this rumor is correct, I'll miss stuff 🙁 I guess we'll see.

By "characters," I seriously doubt they mean characters with speaking parts. They mean a few extra dufflepuds to jump towards camera, or a few more soldiers to save their swords at you. That'd be my guess.
I think it's important to clarify that it's not like they subtracted characters from the 2D version. They're simply adding something to the 3D version.

I agree. It's probably just some minor, gimmicky shots.
Wait. This could mean more. Maybe all the information we have about the film thusfar only applies to the 2D version. Maybe the 3D version will actually honor the book.
Interesting. But I probably won't see it in 3-D unless it is the only form available where I live. 3-D is getting to be too much of gimmick.

Unless they figure out how to hide Rhince, Gael, or some other characters in the 2D version and put them in the 3D version, I doubt they're talking about this movie. It might just be more dufflepuds or crew, as someone above mentioned, but thank goodness this is a rumor, because there's a strong possibility it's not true. 🙂

I think this will be the water spirit. On trailer we kinda don't saw the water spirit when it jumps out the water…
thats really disappointing. it should be the same thing for both versions for people who like 2D or 3D.

I don't know, you're probably right, but when I read that, my first thought was that there will be characters in the film that will be more visible (or only visible) in the 3D version of the film. Anyway, the fact that Aintitcool's source claims that the 3D in VDT will blow our minds is great news. 3D conversion 3D rarely work as well as 3D in films that are shot with 3D cameras. Warner Brothers recently released a statement saying that the 3D conversion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part I won't be ready in time for release and that the film therefore will be released in 2D exclusively. We can only hope that FOX will do the same thing should a similar situation occur with the 3D conversion of VDT.

That would be terrible, considering it's a major plot point.
Considering the 3d version is like 5 bucks more, I somehow don't feel too slighted that there is added material in the 3d version. I'll probably see it in both, so it doesn't bother me particularly. This is probably nothing like extra scenes – more likely it's simply eye candy "characters" they're adding. That's assuming that there is anything to it at all.
no I don't think so…. I mean they just made up some thing in p.c but they were flary good in the loin the witch and the wardrobe.

This might actually be cool…strange things in the Magician's house, extra mermaids, invisible duffers. Hm. Not bad. 🙂 I'm still going for 2D.
I would hope that's all it is. I think adding additional content to the movie to get people to pay for 3D is pretty cheap, but considering their deceitful ad campaign, I guess we shouldn't be surprised.
