Okay. First things first. We are all entitled to our own opinions. It does not mean that if one person dislikes it, we all will. I don't think we should be stressing about that at all. In fact, I watched glumPuddle's trailer analysis for the theatrical trailer and disagreed with most of the comments. I completely respect his opinion, but I don't agree with him. Most of his comments on the visual effects I felt opposite. The changes to the story I don't like but I feel like there was a good reason for the changes. I think most of these changes were put in place to appeal to everyone and not to just appeal to fans of the book. Let's just all be happy! πŸ™‚ It is out, and we may like it, and we may not like it…..let's just go support it!

AHHHHHHHHHHH SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how was it?

• eustacegirl says:

Lucy, it was wonderful! Edmund was being the big protective, comforting brother of Lucy and he cared so much about her unlike LWW and he did not give into the witch during his nightmare at all! He did show hesistation towards the food, which was kind of like the book. I almost cried when Eustace cried while Leaving Reepicheep and am so happy he wanted to go back to Narnia. I like that he put the painting back on the wall! OOH the name drop! Silver chair and last Battle have to be made! They must!

• selena says:

i know!! the movie was simply amazing!!!! the acting was really good….especially skandar's.

• WilliamMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

It was AWESOME… LITERALLY. Edmund was a wonderful actor, Lucy was amazing, but Eustace; OH MY GOODNESS! He's my new favorite actor!!! He's soooo good! But the movie did seem like they rushed into it. And there were a few cheesy lines, but it didn't ruin the movie. Even though I expected more, it was awesome. I especially loved the sea serpent! It was really epic and awesome. They did change the story but it's not bad like PC. And the change in the story definetly didn't ruin the movie or book. Above all, Aslan was TOTALLY….INDESCRIBABLE!! …in a good way!

3. Queen Elizabeth says:

I just think that people should post the positives and not every negative thing.

• elanor says:

Sorry, Queen Elizabeth.

But when you are bitterly disapointed, you sometimes can't help it. πŸ™

• MinotaurforAslan says:

Now Queen Elizabeth, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Stop ganging up on people who dislike the movie. πŸ˜‰

They're the minority anyway. Cut them some slack.

• Queen Elizabeth says:

You guys are all sounding like hipocrites. I say one comment about not liking someone's post, and it wasn't even in a mean way. And you all gang up on me. Wow. way to get your message across. Aparently I'm not entitled to my opinion either.

• jag says:

Im with queen… If you want to be negative, than wait… atleast give the film its first week before you publically start slagging it!!! there will be people who will be put off seeing the film by these comments, people that may have walked out of the cinema very happy with what they had just seen… so C'mon give it a chance… as u say your the minority, so dont put so much emphisis on your dissapointment to the extent that you may affect the majority… well not just yet anyways! haha BTW I was blown away by the film… saw it last saturday night, and going again tonight! πŸ™‚

• justanothernarniafan says:

Queen Elizabeth, first of all 'hipocrites' as you spelled is actually spelled 'hypocrites'. Secondly, every person is entitled to their own opinion.

• elanor says:

Queen Elizabeth, I'm not trying to sound negative. More than anything I was wishing VTD to win, to be as wonderful as it could be. All I was trying to say was–be a little easier on us. We are just venting our disapointment, and it's the alternative to crying our eyes out. We LOVE Narnia, and C.S. Lewis and his unparalled imagination and boundless creativity and pure depth in simplicity. We were just hoping for too much, I guess. It was probably our falt. πŸ™

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I appreciate your comment elanor. But when you say "ganging up on us" I don't get that. I didn't gang up on anyone. I dissagreed with ONE person. I would like it if this whole group of people that hates me would just end this please.

• elanor says:

*fault

We don't hate you! We're all just very opinionated, I think. πŸ™‚

• Bookwyrm says:

So basically, people have a right to their opinion as long as it's your opinion. Perhaps you might want to start your own fansite where you can enforce your ridiculous demands.

4. J.J. says:

VDT was incredible! I absolutely loved it!

5. Anna's Sister says:

I want to see it!!! Why do little towns have to get movies so late!

6. wolfloversk says:

*is sitting in her chair reading this forced to wait a week before she can see it…

on the upside I've been rereading the chronicles, in both orders, and you know all those inconsistencies people claim they have… yeah, well all I've got to say is what inconsistencies? I've already found two were disproved potentially, and I just finished the first book…

On the down side I founjd a spot in the book that contradicts one of my favorite lines from the PC movie…AHHHHHH!!!!!- Ah well, perhaps they'll explain it away somehow…if they get there…

Right now I'm more worried about SC than I am about VDT, I guess this is because theirs not much that they can do about changing the changes… but I'll be heartbroken if they don't make the rest, especially HHB, that was my favorite. And there's also a few SC rumors that could potentially kill the franchise if VDT doesn't, good thing they are rumors! Basically if SC doesn't get greenlit fast, we could have some major problems…

• wolfloversk says:

Oh and by the way those rumors have nothing to do with Tilda, fortunately, although if I had to choose… *shudders*

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I know how you feel wolfloversk. I don't get to see it until next Tuesday. πŸ™‚ We can be the late watchers club!

• Zhixara says:

I don't even get to see it until the 17th. I did Narnia: The Musical earlier this year and we're getting the cast together to go see it as a group since we haven't seen each other since the last performance (in early October). Some of us have been able to hang out since the performance, but one of the 2 Lucy's (who is 8 and the most adorable girl ever!) who captured everyone's heart has only gotten to see me and only because I was at work and her family went to eat at the restaurant I serve at. So the 17th is when everyone is getting together to see the show so even though I COULD go see it, I don't want to lose out on the experience with my castmates. And the 17th is when Tron: Legacy comes out and I REALLY want to see that opening weekend….:*(

• narniafreak13 says:

Zhixara, how did you find a musical of Narnia???? I want my school to do that!!!!!!!!!

7. CEP Paul T says:

Overall: Good movie. I would pay to see it in the theater again and most likely will.

8. Greg says:

Very good movie! Beautiful, stunning, and engaging!

9. Brian says:

The movie was good, not great and that made me sad. The moment I saw the FOX and Walden Media logos I was almost trembling with excitement. I cried at various moments during the movie and I actually had to calm myself at the end or I would have cried for some time… The things they got wrong they got really wrong and therewere many. But the things they got right they couldn't have done any better. Please go watch it. I can almost be certain that you will at least like it. It doesn't make you feel like you're in Narnia. Maybe that's ok since it's not Narnia itself, it's the Easten Ocean. But still I was hoping for a more Narnian feel. The movie was fast paced, everything was done in some way that made me feel that the filmmakers just cared about things being and not exactly fitting them in. The green mist was terrible if not stupid. The moment I saw the green mist my mind went crazy with fury. I said to myself: "What movie is this? Is this even Narnia?" In my opinion, it doesn't make any sense at all. The Islands were explored too fast, no details. All places were sets. There were no open spaces like in the previous installments. In general the movie is a very lower scale compared to the other two. There were a lot of details and things they had to do and show that they didn't. For instance Ramandu's Island is named after someone who does not apear at any moment. I hated that. The dark island was all wrong, the seven swords made no sense. Almost nothing was how I imagined it. They only thing I did love was the end and the beginning. But please go watch it!

• Queen Elizabeth says:

Thanks for your review Brian. But a little less bad stuff in the middle next time. πŸ™‚ idk I'm scared to see it now, everyone is saying it was bad. But I'm glad it's emotional, if I don't cry then you know they weren't doing there job. I have a question though, when was there a cry-worthy scene other then at the end?

• MinotaurforAslan says:

Queen Elizabeth, I'm not sure what reviews you're reading, but from what I've seen, the majority of NarniaWebbers like the film. In fact, NarniaWeb administrator Tirian gave the film high praise, along with many prominent forum moderators.

• rachanne says:

brian i 100% agree with you like when they said they were in narnia it didn't feel like it to me i mean it was just the ocean and then when they went to the islands it was in closed spaces and even when it did look open the land was dry looking and you didn't get any sense of beauty from any of the islands and yea now that i've read your comment this movie was drawn down to scale which was sad. the special effects were very disappointing and your right it didn't have the narnian feel and im a huge skandar fan so to see him end with this movie upsetted me but i was so glad that he had a big part in the film. overall i enjoyed the movie still and i suggest everyone to watch it

10. King of Narnia says:

12. Fire vien says:

IF I don't see it soon I'm going to DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13. NarnianHarper says:

Augh, I have to wait until tomorrow but then the 3 years of agonizing suspense will finally be over!

14. Narniac4Aslan says:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I've been waiting sooooooooooooooooooo long for this and I can finally see the countdown as 0 0 0 0! I can't see it until Sunday though, but I'm praying that the weekend goes by uber fast!

15. Queen Elizabeth says:

The wait is killing me! Only 3 or 4 more days!!!!! But the more I wait the more I want to see it πŸ™‚

16. Queen Elizabeth says:

Does anyone else think that Georgie and Will P. would be an adorable couple? When they walked with arms linked at the royal premier I thought they looked so cute together! Food for thought…

• High Queene Shelly Belly says:

im surprised she and sex symbol skandar didnt get together- or at least as far as we know–

• Queen Elizabeth says:

Ok first of all Skandar isn't a sex symbol. Even though he is referred to as the British Zac Efron. And secondly, he's four years older than her, it would be illigal. lol. Besides, as long as he's not taken I'm happy. They never seemed like they would be a good couple anyway.

• selena says:

…well i had trouble focusing on the story of the movie because of skandar. i was to busy drooling over him. lol
im seeing it again tomorrow and im going to try yo focus on the messsage

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I guess it's true lol. When I watch Prince Caspian at home I always rewind and replay Skandar's scenes. Haha, I love him. This one set interview of him on you tube he'l like, "Yea I slid down the roof over there cause I'm cool like that." lol

• Connor says:

you really need to get your mind off of those kind of things!!!!!! you r the kind of people that make things worse than they are!

• rachanne says:

lmaoo sex symbol skandar

• Ionic Bonding Rocks says:

Hey, leave the actors alone, the poor things. They probably have enough trouble coping with the publicity without annoying fans trying to pair them up with each other! Let them make their own decisions, for goodness sake!
The narnian actors all have my sympathy when it comes to these things… although it would have been such a privelidge to work on these films. I just wish they would be allowed to enjoy be part of it without being heckled by fans who want to dictate their lives.

• Queen Elizabeth says:

It's not like the actors are going to read this. And me "pairing" them up is not actually going to happen. My one little post doesn't even effect them. Maybe some people would agree.

• narnian resident says:

they do look cute next to eachother (i admit it, i was thinking of it once), and Will is a cutie, but i never think of co-actors pairing up. its not my place

17. Chris says:

Was it better thsn the last two

18. Is it just me, or would the Narnia books be better TV series.

It's just a thought, but at least the entire book would be watched.

• High Queene Shelly Belly says:

I agree, only because they could be true to the books, have alll the books material in it, and not have to pander to movie standards – like typical blockbuster format stuff. more like the bbc would put out, where they respect the original material. ( and not so kiddie-ish, like the 1989 version was). then they wouldn't feel the need to tinker with the structure of the books . jus tlike the do english classic books on BBc, and pbs masterpiece theatre. and not de-christianize it.

• Moonwood says:

So, let's do it ! LOL
I think it is a really, really good idea. I bet you someone noticing these movies will eventually make the perfect 'middle ground' ( leaning mainly on the book side , hopefully ! ) t.v mini-series.
Yet I think a regular cartoon series outside the main story ( like they did for Star Wars and so many others ) would be our worst nightmare. But I have confidence for now that D.G. would never allow this.

19. Narniagirl says:

Going to see Dawn Treader now and I'm bringing friends! Can't wait:)

20. Great movie, especially the ending. This is a very faithful rendering of the book and I think it will do very well. Please check out my full review if interested.

21. wannawork4Weta says:

We just got out of the theatre and we LOVED IT!!! 3 out of 4 of us said it was the best of the three films! Wow……

22. Susan the Gentle says:

Just saw the first show in my area and i really enjoyed it!
Positives – 1. I really love Will Poulter as Eustace! The character development was wonderful!
2. I really loved Reepicheep, i thought that i wouldn't like his voice but it was great!
3. When Aslan is telling them they can't come back, it was very well acted and i was defiantly crying. (also loved how during this you got little glimpses of Aslans Country)
Negatives
1. We did not see Aslan change from a lamb into a lion! I was very disappointed by this.
2. It seemed to move almost to quickly and didn't take time to breath until the end.
3. How it didn't show enough of Caspian and Ramus daughter together.
Overall i loved the movie and i will go back and see it again πŸ™‚

• narniafreak13 says:

I agree with everything you said, and I am disappointed we didn't see more of Caspian and Ramandu's daughter together. I am really aggrivated that they didn't have Ramandu in it at all, and they made Lilliandil the star!

• narnian resident says:

yeah i was also upset about the Aslan changing from a Lamb thing. it was disappointing, but for me it was made up by his absolutely fabulous line to Lucy πŸ˜€
first of all, i was surprised at how little they simply had Lilliandil there at all, and then hardly having any of Caspian/Lilliandil was more dissapointing. i realize that there wasnt really any in the book as well, and they put in Caspian's line "I hope we meet again" there, and thats all thats really in the book, so that makes sense. i had wished though they would give the audience some sort of hint (mainly for those who hadnt read the book and wouldnt know) that he went back and married her. but, i suppose it wasnt major to the story, same as it came across in the book, and really we never see her again. she is only talked about in Silver Chair and in just a story from another character we never really have her there. so i guess it wasnt so bad.
yes, it did feel like it was going very fast, mainly in the beginning and at the Lone Islands. it felt like we were barely 5 minutes into the movie when suddenly they're in Narnia. i had wished they would have lengthened that just a bit. and at Lone Islands it just felt like their fancy skirmish went way too fast that you couldnt even remember what just happened a second ago. it just seemed really rushed, as if they just wanted to get this over with. other than all that (and the……somewhat decent dilogue) it was a wonderful, very enjoyable movie.

23. faunforaxlan says:

Saw it last Night! Goingto see it Again!

24. Queen Elizabeth says:

Please stop ganging up on me please. I would think my fellow Narnians would be a little more understanding.

• Bookwyrm says:

Quit attacking people then. πŸ˜›

• hsawaknoW says:

I understand what you're saying Queen Elizabeth. But you gotta calm down and stop thinking everyone's against you!

• princessrosario says:

People are only ganging up on you because you are attacking them. πŸ˜›

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I dissagreed with one post and everyone thinks I'm "attacking" them. And then 20 people "yell" at me and say that I'm not letting people speak their opininion. GlumPuddle if you are reading this, I won't ever comment on your posts again, considering I'll be cyber bullied for my opinion.

• Bookwyrm says:

You've done a lot more than disagree with one post. I've watched you post on other news stories, you do the exact same thing everywhere. Attack people, complain about them expressing their negative opinion, then cry foul when people call you on it and try to act like you've been victimized. Grow up.

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I've been trying to end this stupid argument and people keep bashing me for it. The only ones that need to grow up are those who keep criticizing me. I wish you could all be mature enough to end this. Because some of your posts are very hurtful. And I'm not being a "baby" or feeling "sorry for myself" when there is nothing to feel sorry for. I just thought we were entitled to our own opinions, but I guess not. I never told anyone that they couldn't post something, just that I dissagreed with them.

25. Hwin says:

After all of the varying reviews, my mind felt quite jumbled. I listened to the audio book (most of it) before I saw the movie, and I decided to simply go with the movie, and compare it to the book and opinions of others afterwards.

Beginning of the film- I was shaking and was between crying and laughing with nervousness and anticipation! And then-WHOOSH! I felt so swept away by everything! To be honest, I think I really need to see it again to get a strong and firm conclusion, but from what I saw today, I was quite delighted!

Narnia is about the characters, about the magic, and most importantly, Aslan. It had the lessons about temptation, redemption, pride, and jealousy. When I first saw Eustace's transforming back to a boy, I thought,

"Oh darn, that was way too fast! They don't even emphasize the real point!"

But then towards the end, (MILD SPOILER?) Eustace talks about how he tried so hard, but couldn't do it on his own.

I would have bawled at the end if I had been the only one there, and if I had not drank so much Sprite =P The ending was so sad, but with a sort of hopeful feeling in the air. I nearly jumped for joy when they kept Aslan's line-

"…You will know me by another name…"

In my opinion, the most important parts were all there!

But anyways, I should probably shutup now. Go see the movie!!! Yes, there will be many many opinions, and many points made, but I think they really had the spirit and magic of Narnia once again! I don't blame those who were disappointed, it is quite different from the book, but the heart is there, I'm quite sure.

So in conclusion, go see it, and you will find out for yourselves whether you like the film or not

• Hwin says:

Oh, and did I mention that Will P. is the absolute perfect Eustace??? Such great acting from him, in my opinion!!! πŸ˜€

• Ionic Bonding Rocks says:

I couldn't agree more! When I saw him it was like a childhood memory coming to life. He was every bit as beastly, arrogant, annoying and humourous as I imagined as an eight year old!
Absolutely magnificent acting, Will!

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I agree. From the scenes I've seen on here Will P. does a fantastic job, and looks and acts exactly how I thought Eustace would.

26. Ionic Bonding Rocks says:

The first night I saw it, I wrote a 15 hundred word review on the movie in which I go into a lengthy analysis of characters, themes, technical stuff music, and a whole lot of other stuff that makes up a movie.
I'm guessing nobody really wants to read that, though… πŸ™‚
In a snapshot, it was a brilliant movie. Yes, they could have perhaps done something more original with the plot, but apart from that they really stuck true to the characters and they kept the end part in there.
I completely understand the negative reviewers' viewpoint, but my opinion is that it was fantastic and everyone should not be discouraged from seeing it. Make up your mind for yourself!
For the record, about a month ago I didn't want to see VDT. I thought they wouldn't do a good enough job, from listening to all the reviews. Now I have seen it twice, and would see it a third time if I had the money.
For Narnia, AND FOR ASLAN!!!!!!

• Kiri says:

I wouldn't mind reading your review. Do you have a blog?

• Pudduffle says:

I would also like to read it.

• graycsc says:

I'm reading your review right now and before I go on I just have to say that I love what you said about the themes! That's exactly what I've been thinking too (and I also agree with you about the rest of the stuff, at least up to that point, this just really stands out to me) and I couldn't have put it any better myself! πŸ™‚

• Ionic Bonding Rocks says:

Wow, thanks! I wasn't really expecting anyone to read it, let alone agree with it!
If you can be bothered, please feel free to post a comment! I would love to know how I can improve my reviews. I am also looking for suggestions of what book-turned-movie to review next!

27. Reepicheep says:

I saw it on December 5 and thought it was fabulous!

28. Aslan's my homeboy says:

I thought the movie was fantastic! It blew my mind! I lost it at the end I was crying so hard. It was great!

29. Connor says:

i loved itttt!!!!!! it was amazing!! im very glad that susan and peter were in it! but i kinda disapointed that they didint put the part with all four of the pevensies in theire narnian clothes,:( but it was still very goood:) it had a great christian undertone as well!!!!

30. Caspian's Gurl says:

*Very Minor Spoilers*

I tried very, very hard to not read or watch many of the things that were popping up all over the web about the movie. I'll admit to watching all the released clips about three weeks ago and it didn't make me question whether I'd like the movie or not. I just thought I would. I tried to remain neutral as possible, not wanting to set myself up for disappointment.

Visually, the movie was great! I saw it in 3D, but found it distracting and will probably see it again, but in 2D. I think that with a larger budget, it would have been AMAZING! This is something that the Director had no control over the smaller budget and Fox Studio coming on board to take over where Disney left off.

Story wise, there were a few flaws. The movie is an hour and fifty minutes long. And I honestly felt that there were some character development flaws that could have been solved within that time, that weren't.

Lucy- I think that they could have elaborated more on Lucy's insecurity with her own beauty. That was an important part of the book for me, as a woman having had those type of issues. Aslan, in the book, always talked as though she was the most beautiful creature he'd beheld and I didn't feel that Lucy quite made that jump. Thus taking the leap into the Christian parallel that she was made by the hands of God, and his creation… don't mess with what was already beautiful in his eyes.

Edmund- Edmund longed to have the status that came with being a man and the passion for a purpose. Mostly what I saw was a lot of anger which is an easy emotion to go to but I would have liked to have seen more of the struggle with himself. It wasn't the fact that Edmund was a King, he was a man looking for purpose and I didn't see him finding it.

Eustace- Will Poulter STOLE THE SHOW! I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this kid! He was able to develop and evolve as a character and he didn't even have to say anything at times. I don't have one bad thing to say about him at all.

As for certain additives such as bring back the White Witch and the MLG (Gael), I don't think that they hurt the story. But I did ask myself the question of "What was the point of Gael?" Personally the money paid for the little girl to be in the movie could have gone towards something else.

*here comes the MINOR spoilers*
I could be really nit picky about how I always pictured Aslan digging deeper to remove Eustace's scales or the fact that they didn't elaborate that Ramadu's daughter was made Caspian's wife and thus becoming the mother of Rilian, or the fact that you didn't see the lamb turn into Aslan in the end. But two of those three were the Christian parallels that cause for controversy, I understand making it "friendly for all", but Jack didn't make a story that caused security, but rather insecurity. C.S Lewis was a very out spoken Christian and to tamper with that, in my opinion, is insult to who and why C.S Lewis wrote these books in the first place.
*end spoiler alert*

All in all, the "MOVIE" was awesome… FOR. THE. MOVIE. But does a movie EVER compare to the book? No! I'll be honest with a lot of you who were disappointed, I think some had their expectations so high, NOTHING was going to reach them. I actually think that's what happened when GlumPuddle saw the movie. I went in as neutral as possible and was left feeling pretty pleased. I hope that they create Silver Chair. It'll give a fresh new start with ALL NEW CHARACTERS! Plus, it's MY favorite book of the seven. πŸ™‚

31. blueRain says:

I came into the theater with very low expectations…and guess what! I was surprised at how much I ended up liking the movie. I kind of agree with Queen Elizabeth on the issue of posting lots of negative comments on this page. We're NarniaWebbers, people! If we don't support the franchise, who will?

• Queen Elizabeth says:

Thank you BlueRain. I'm not against the negative comments, but I personally like to hear the positives.

32. Tanya says:

Overall it was great, but I thought some part of the story was trimmed a little bit. I can't believed I cried at the end of the movie. I'm definitely watching it again. I don't if it just me, but I could definitly see that the budget was considerably less than Prince Caspian.

33. LittlePrincess64 says:

Dawn Treader is my favorite book, and I thought the movie was brilliant. I get all the changes. I love every moment of it. By the end, I was crying my eyes out, I felt depressed with those last shots they were so beautiful and sad at the same time, just perfect.

35. stars_daughter17 says:

YAAAAY!!!! πŸ™‚ I just saw the movie tonight and I LOVED IT! πŸ™‚ It was wonderful! There were several changes, but I definitely didn't feel like they ruined the movie at all. πŸ™‚ I felt that Skandar, Georgie, and Ben did a wonderful job, and Will Poulter… I've got to agree with Caspian's Gurl: He did amazing! I was really nervous to see how he would do in portraying Eustace, and he did great! I also agree with LittlePrincess64: That last scene was a tear-jerker. :'( It was definitely both lovely and very sad, and I was definitely choking back tears. I love the way the movies have ended, and yet I hate it at the same time. They pull me in so much that when it's time for the heros to return to our world, I feel depressed along with them.
Well, all in all, I loved the movie and am planning on seeing it again! πŸ™‚

36. Demor says:

One word…AMAZING! I think it may be my favorite of the three. We all need to support it so that they can go on to make the next. I used to like Narnia simply because of my respect and fascination for their author. As I has began following this film deeply the past few months, I am beginning to get a deeper love for the stories themselves.

Above all else, my prayer is that through these films more people will be shown God's grace and eternal salvation. Glory to God!

37. RideOn says:

I personally loved this movie, I went to see it today and I'm still thinking about it! And though sometimes I can be 'purist' in my thinking, I'm willing to admit that most of the changes were necessary. After all, story-telling in a book and story-telling in a movie are two very different things. In fact I think it was rather clever to use the green mist, it ties in with the Silver Chair. (Hopefully we'll be seeing that one next!)
However I do think that all the scenes with the White Witch were overdone (if they cast her as the Lady of the Green Kirtle I don't know what I'll do,) and I also think Gael was unnecessary. There were a number of lines and scenes that I would have liked to see, and I wanted to see Caspian and Lilliandil's weddin', but I don't feel it right to quibble about small things.
On the whole they captured nearly all the important parts, and I was very pleased with all they kept in. I nearly cried at the end, and I don't cry at movies OR books, but the Narnia books have always been able to threaten me with tears, so I figure if the movie evokes the same feelings that I get reading the book, then it's a success. I'll be seeing it again when it comes to the dollar-fifty theatre, (I nearly depleted my funds to take me and my sister, but it was so worth it!) and I want the DVD for my birthday.
So anyway, that is my four cents' worth. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for listening, and go see the movie!

38. Sir Anton says:

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Movie
Good points: Much better than Prince Caspian Movie. There were some great heartfelt moments, especially the last 10 minutes of the movie. I loved the line by reepicheep saying the without faith we have nothing. The special effects were done well.
Bad Points: Nothing like the book, as expected. The chronology was all wrong. Islands were melded together, whole sequences of the book were missing completely, and what is the most disturbing is that it did not even feel like a voyage! More like a short day trip.
Final opinion: As a stand alone movie, it was fun to watch and much better than most movies they spill out the the mundane hollywood box nowadays. As a book adaptation? Totally wrong!
I say go out and enjoy it. It is probably the best of the three Narnia movies so far, definitely better than "caspian". It was fun,but hopefully people will still read the book if they never have before.

39. Northernranger says:

I saw it opening night with some friends, we all dressed up as Narnians. Personally I thought it was the best of the three. I didn't think Andrew was experianced enough and I am glad they got a new director. I thought the acting improved greatly and the whole scope of the film was an a larger scale then the other two were. I went in a little skeptical so it was nice to be proven wrong. If you look at it as not being related to the books the movie was amazing. But I thought it was good for a Narnia movie. I do need to see it again to sort out my thoughts on it.

40. CWRunner says:

I would have to mostly agree yet partially disagree with GlumPuddle. I disagree with him because as a stand alone movie, I enjoyed it and found it entertaining. BUT this movie was NOT Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

41. son of adam says:

Saw it twice!! XD

42. Bookwyrm says:

Though I'm skipping the film, I'm happy to hear that most are enjoying it. Hope you all have a great time at the theater!

• narnian21 says:

But this film need our support if we ever want to see SC!!!

• Pepper Darcy says:

I was getting ready to ask what you thought of the film, Bookworm πŸ™‚ My bad!

• Demor says:

Why are you skipping it? We need to support it!!!

• Bookwyrm says:

I'm not going to see it because I already know I'm not going to enjoy it. Don't really see the point in spending hard-earned money on something that'll just depress me and make me angry. Not saying people should skip it or anything like that, so please no rants about how I'm trying to bend the impressionable minds of NWebbers everywhere. πŸ˜›

This is movie is Perfect!

Please,I need Silver Chair *-*

44. Caroline says:

Does anyone know what Apted meant by writing "the book that C.S. Lewis never did"? Something about it being between VDT and SC. I didn't understand what in this movie he was talking about.

45. HUGEFANOFNARNIA19867 says:

I SAW THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• HUGEFANOFNARNIA19867 says:

I had trouble getting tickets. when I got there I bought the last tickets!!!! I couln't believe the line!!! Every show was sold out!!!

• Demor says:

I wish it had been like that in my area. There was barely anyone in the theater. But I think that was probably because so many people were studying for finals which are this coming week here. So hopefully that means everyone will come next week

• Northernranger says:

When I saw PC opening night the theater was PACKED. But we went to another theater this opening night and there were just a few people there. It was much funner when it was packed.

46. mary says:

I have a review on my blog – the short version is that I agree with Hwin and Brian, in that they didn't get everything right, but what they did get right was perfect. And one of those things was the relationship between Eustace and Reepicheep. Reep's character was very true to the book, and an improvement over the character we saw in PC. And Will Poulter was excellent as Eustace. When I began crying at the end of the movie (and I did – my sister, I and our friend were all in tears), it was because of these two. But I don't understand all the critics who were slamming the acting: Georgie, Skandar and Ben did very well with their characters, too. I LOVED the ending, and will see the movie again. Here's the link to my blog: http://mary-j-59.livejournal.com/67460.html

47. iBookworm says:

Well, Eustace was good. But little else. They tried to tie all the episodes of the book together but they used a totally arbitrary plot element to do it. And, frankly, there was just no Narnia in the story. I don't know how else to describe it. It just wasn't Narnia. Remember that moment in the book where the Narnians (greatly outnumbered) march ceremoniously through the Lone Islands and everyone is in awe? "Then Caspian caused his banner to be advanced and his trumpet to be blown and every man drew his sword and set his face into a joyful sternness, and they marched up the street so that the street shook, and their armour shone (for it was a sunny morning) so that one could hardly look at it steadily." There was nothing close to that feeling in the movie β€” and I know there COULD have been, because sequences in the first film imparted that sense of Narnian nobility and joy.

Funny, they talked about how they were "expanding" the story of Dawn Treader but they actually shrank it. The Lone Islands are just a short action sequence now, instead of a story of the perils of bureaucracy and the evil of allowing bad things to happen because of pragmatism, and the ultimate triumph of impractical, noble goodness.

I might think I was being impossible to please except that the first Narnia movie pleased me immensely. It managed to keep the characters and the feel of Narnia as Lewis wrote them. So I know it's possible to do this in a film.

I do hope everyone enjoys it, though. I envy people who can enjoy these movies. πŸ˜‰

• Queen Elizabeth says:

I see what you mean. But about the not enough "Narnia" thing, it may be becasuse the story does not actually take place in Narnia. Maybe you're just not used to all these new "non-Narnian" characters like the dufflepuds and such πŸ™‚

• iBookworm says:

No, I don't mean the geography of Narnia, the nation. I mean the feel of Narnia, the world, as Lewis imagined it, which includes so much more than geography or how things look (the movie looked beautiful β€” well, except for the cheesy green mist). It's a subtle thing, and difficult to pin down with words, but I know that the movie just didn't hit it for me. I'm happy if it did for others, though.

And of course I am familiar with Dufflepuds β€” from the book. They're not really the same in the movie. Coriakin tells them that he made them invisible to save them from the evil mist. That took away the delightful little story about how and why they turned themselves invisible which is what makes them so unique in the book. Without that, they are out of place. I can only imagine what someone seeing the movie who had never read the book would think. "Uh, now we have little midgets with big feet. Okaaaaaay . . ." Feels like something out of Alice in Wonderland: weird for weirdness' sake.

• Queen Elizabeth says:

Oh darn! I liked the part in the book about the ugliness of the dufflepuds and all that, I really do think they should have left out the green mist. So then why does Lucy read the spell to make them visible? (I'm open to that spoiler) πŸ™‚

48. piper says:

I love Fox but Disney was wise to drop this unappealing sequel. Funny the last film has many complaints about Susan and Caspian which so many now liked and now this movie is barely floating at the box office. Susan and Caspian online esp Youtube has more viewers than the movie attendance of Voyage. Im sure Popplewell and Mosely are glad to have move on. Tron will kill Narnia.

49. CEP Paul T says:

Avoiding an "I agree" sort of post …

But I agree with quite a few folks. What was done right was spot on. Other parts missed for me. Seems different parts hit well for some and not for others.

That said, all those involved are professionals! Y'all rock. Tough job you got there making a lot of people happy. I may not agree with all of the changes, but it was a darn worthy effort! Thank you. πŸ˜€

If it can happen, I would like to see The Silver Chair made.

To be fair to glumPuddle, I can see his passion for the Chronicles and the resulting feeling. Don't always agree with him, but I can understand.

50. rachanne says:

i really liked it and im sooo happy that skandar actually had a role in this movie i mean in PC i think he had the least to do. but the thing was it didn't feel the same like when i watched the first two. this one didn't match them. VDT was like completely different and i know i should expect that from books that have completely different settings and plots and stuff but idk. at first i thought PC was terrible but VDT didn't have the same kinda feel that the first two had and im not saying that's bad and idk if anyone will get me. i guess it was the change in director and the way Apted saw it. and yea it did seem rushed. it seemed like the crew had a chore list of all the islands to go to and they would go to each one as fast as possible to check it off from the list and then go straight on to the next one. and to me thats why i didn't really get emotional at the end because it didnt seem like the voyage had alot of meaning. and what i hated the most was that it ended with the edmund lucy and eustace looking all sad and closing the door i found that so depressing i wish they could've said something to each other at the end but whatever i still enjoyed it and i cant wait till its out on dvd

• rachanne says:

and also i hated the whole evil thing. the first movie you got the witch dictating narnia, the second you have telmarines invading, and the third… you have green mist that makes people disappear and the only way to end it is to collect the swords?? i mean that was pretty ridiculous. i understand that maybe the film might've been dull if you stuck with the book and just searched for the lords but they didn't make it any greater by adding this kind of a plot. evil green mist doesn't make you scared or jump off your seat or intensify things. and was it just me or did the dialogue seem awkward at times. they talked so proper at times that it didn't seem natural. but yeah still love all the actors in the film

51. JesusLIVES! says:

How is the 3D effect? Does the movie really pop out?
I'm going 2 c it on Sunday. P.S. Hey sis Emily!

• Susan the Gentle says:

The 3D didn't do that much, nothing is popping out at you it just adds more depth to it. I'm still glad i saw it in 3D though πŸ™‚

• Farsight says:

We saw it in 2D yesterday. We thought it was amazing! But they messed up Ramandu's Island a lot. They didn't even have Ramandu in it. But on the other hand, they developed the characters very well! Eustace did wonderful job depicting himself in the book…Lucy as well! I did not like Edmund's part in the script as much though…I didn't like the way he acted towards Eustace until about half way through the movie. He's not like that in the book. Of coarse he's annoyed by him, but at the same time he's gracious enough to not be angry at him just like he shows at the beginning of the movie.
But other than that, it was AMAZING!!!!

• Farsight says:

JESUS DOES LIVE!!!!!!!! πŸ˜€

52. Demor says:

This may seem stupid and it is nothing wrong with the movie and certainly not a complaint about it cause I did like it. I was just hoping to see more of Ramandu's daughter (my favorite character) and it would have been cool to see Ramandu. But it was still awesome. They need to keep going cause I want to see Horse and His Boy.

• narnian resident says:

yes, that was one of the things i was disspointed about. it always looked like she was going to be there a lot, but she just came and went, and i was like "Where'd she go?" and another thing, i had really wanted them to somehow put in the film the fact that Caspian went back and married her, because the people who havent read the books wont know that. darn. well, she looked great, and very beautiful, of course πŸ™‚

53. SkandarFan101 says:

Wow I really liked it! There were a couple cheesy lines but the rest of the movie more than made up for it. Edmund was in it so much more which had me grinning like a fool with excitement at times. (Mild spoiler?) I always felt in the last one he got pushed to the side way too much and I am glad that that fact was brought up in this movie. The only thing I was really sad about was that Peter wasn't in it that much – even though he wasn't in the book at all and I should have know better than to get my hopes up of course. πŸ˜€ I guess I just love their brotherly relationship way too much. Eustace was awesome and and the sea serpent was very cool. I will be saying it at least 5 more times!

• SkandarFan101 says:

*seeing it (my bad)

• rachanne says:

yea i was so happy skandar actually had a part in this movie too and i also couldnt help stop smiling because he actually had lines and scenes that were about him! lol as you can see i was upset with PC

54. narnian resident says:

overall, i thoroughly enjoyed it, very much. i actually found the changed plotline of green list and seven swords very cool and interesting. there were 2 major things that really, REALLY bothered me: it felt extremely rushed, especially at the beginning and at the Lone Islands skirmish, and the script was not so good. many times they said something that was horribly cheesy and very disney (which is hilarious because the one movie that wasnt made by disney was the most disneyish). i especially didnt like all that rediculous bantering and enticing from Edmund when they were battling the Sea Serpent, with all that cheesy "I'm still here!" "Come and get me!" i was like "are you serous? that sounds so stupid!"
the Sea Serpent was another thing. i was both amazed and bothered by it at the same time. when it suddenly opened up with all those creepy bug-like limbs (or something!) it REALLY creeped me out big time. but it did look really awesome.
the highlights were totally Eustace and Reepicheep! just for those two i recommend people to see it! i was extremely, EXTREMELY impressed with Will's performance. he was spectacular! and along with Reep they were show-stealers, no lie! the dragon looked amazing! i actually almost started tearing up when Dragon Eustace was crying (just like in the book!) and Reep comforted him. and their little duel was absolutely hilarious and brilliant πŸ˜€
the dufflepuds! oh my goodness they were so awesome! they are another thing i would recommend to see the movie for. they were just so cool πŸ˜€
Aslan looked amazing! i was sort of sad at the such small amount of him there was, but then i remembered that that was just about the same amount that he appeared in the book. i was hoping to see much more interaction between him and Eustace, because the only time they ever had contact was when Aslan changed him back, and Eustace didnt even speak to him, and somehow at the end he knew it was Aslan. i dont know, one of those plot holes i guess. but he LOOKED amazing, thats what was the best thing.
you know, it was one of those movies that was really amazing and kind of bad at the same time, sort of like when i saw PC the first time. but now i absolutely love PC, and im sure after some time and a few more showings i'll love VDT too πŸ™‚
my thanks to all who worked so hard to make this film, and much appreciation. For Aslan!

55. QueenSusanJ316 says:

Saw the movie, and although it was not like the book love it more than Prince Caspian! Can't wait to see it again!

56. pselpevensie says:

i saw it yesterday. it was AMAZING!!!!!!! there were definite things that were completely different from the book, but i don't think it was as bad as we all thought. the witch didn't have that main a part and gael wasn't a major character. the islands were a little different, and a little out of order, but it was very well done. i definitely recommend all narnia (and non-narnia) fans to see it πŸ™‚

57. Brylowman says:

I thought it was very close to the books, the only changes were from expanding the story line of the dark island to connect all the islands together in breaking its spell. The other changes were of omission which were most likely caused because of budget and screen time. I can't wait to see it again as it was my favorite of three made so far.

58. reenie says:

The movie was AMAZING! I saw it today. I cried at the part when Aslan said that Ed and Lucy couldn't go back to Narnia.I really liked the part when Aslan said that he had another name in our world, and the children would have to learn it there, I think that he might have been talking about God.I can't say it enough…Loved it!!!!! πŸ˜€ :):D

• Farsight says:

• reenie says:

I DO Beleive in God farsight, I think that CS Lewis was a man after God's heart. it makes me really happy to know that there is a book (and movie) that realates to bible experiences, this book (and movie) was representes temptation

i saw the movie and loved it! I statad crying at the end! i couldnt stop! Oh and does anyone know if Reep sacrifices himself to get to aslans country?

• Farsight says:

He Doesn't Sacrifice himself, he's always wanted to go to Aslan's country, which makes it even better! Have u read the books? Cause I don't want to ruin it for u if u don't know when the next time they see him is… πŸ™‚
