C.S. Lewis was on BBC Radio During World War II

During WWII, C.S. Lewis gave a series of talks on the BBC. These would be later be published as the book Mere Christianity.

I am a very ordinary layman of the Church of England, not especially ‘high’, nor especially ‘low’, nor especially anything else. But in this book I am not trying to convert anyone to my own position. Ever since I became a Christian I have thought that the best, perhaps the only, service I could do for my unbelieving neighbours was to explain and the defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.

Preface to Mere Christianity ~ CS Lewis

This clip includes a few snippets from Lewis’ broadcast, as well as some comments from one of the child evacuees who stayed with Lewis.

The broadcasts were popular, but sadly, although other recordings of Lewis are still intact, only one remains from the series on BBC.
