New Set Photo of the Dragon Cave?

MundoNarnia has a new set photo. We don’t know for sure if it’s for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or not, but it looks like it could be the dragon cave full of treasure.

Dragon Cave?

They also have some concept art and set photos from an earlier shoot. You can check them all out here.

Thanks to Narniamiss for the heads up!

We have news finally!!! It looks really cool, I hope it is the dragon cave πŸ™‚

    • EmpressoftheLoneIslands says:

Yes, Finally! I have been waiting for some news!
I really hope that's the cave.

      • NarniaNut says:

You know I've been waiting desperatly for news too but the first time I saw this headline there was already 124 comments. What do you guys DO???

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Haha….we have all been so starved for news that as soon as we saw a new update, we all kind of jumped on it at once….lol πŸ˜€

      • NarniaNut says:

But how do you SEE them so early?!

      • Fire Fairy says:

It's called we check NarniaWeb 25 times a day, get disappointed when there's no news, write two or three comments, check again, get disappointed because nobody's had time to respond, check again… πŸ˜‰

      • Princess Arya says:

Fire Fairy — you've about described me literally. I probably should "get a life."

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

I am not quite /that/ excessive, but I guess that I am a twin of yours Princess Arya. πŸ˜€

      • NarniaNut says:

        Ah.
        I understand.

      • NarniaLuver4Ever says:

Wow! Fire Fairy that's me exactly! My parents think I'm crazy, because I check NarniaWeb several times a day. They're like "What could possibly have happened in the last two hours?!" And my mom thought I was the only one… lol

      • Princess Arya says:

NarniaLuv4Ever — before I got on NarniaWeb I thought I was the only one who is such a fanatic, and I told my mom so! She said that I can't be the only one. Behold, she was right! πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

No, you are not the only one….I am on here alot too! That is funny! πŸ˜€ I guess we are truly Narnia Nuts! haha…

      • Princess Arya says:

Lol! I need a new "Narnia-Nut"-like screenname. I'm not as big on Eragon as my name implies about me!

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

That's what your name is from! I thought it sounded familiar….well, now I know. πŸ˜€ btw…the fact that we comment so much on this website shows that we are all Narnia Nuts at heart. lol πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • NarniaNut says:

        Thus my user name,narniafan4ever!!!!
        Glad I'm not the only one! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • Fire Fairy says:

Yeah, I totally have a NarniaWeb shortcut on my favorites bar… My Dad actually blocked NarniaWeb with parental controls for a while because he felt I was being too obsessive and wasting my time… :S
But, yeah, the one of the reasons I didn't choose a Narnia name is because I didn't want to be like everybody else. At least it's not from some other movie or something, because Narnia is definitely #1 on my list. πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

haha….I have Narnia Web as my home page! lol. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • Lucy&Reepicheep says:

No don't change your name Princess Arya, I like it, I like Eragon too(actually I love the books)

    • Starlily says:

I know, I'm starving for news! It seems like forever since the flood of spy videos and pictures. It feels like the Dawn Treader just dropped off the face of the earth. Ah, well, I guess it's a good test of my patience. πŸ™‚

    • Bother Eustace says:

First news in weeks! I was nearly going insane!

    • JadistarkilleR says:

could very well be. and if you look at the sketches, the top sketch looks to match the cave set.

      • icarus says:

Unfortunatley the concept sketches arent of anything. They are just randomly picked out of John Dickenson's website from a bunch of other sketches it seems. He has done loads of other sketches of reepicheep-looking mice which are clearly completley unrelated to Narnia ( i.e. this one here: http://jdickensonart.com/gallery/sketches/index.php?directory=.&currentPic=51 )

Also, if you read the comments section on MundoNarnia, a user called Cyclops says they have received confirmation from the artist that they are totally unrealted to the movie.

      • JadistarkilleR says:

a couple of those are defo Reep Icarus, either that or Dickenson is ripping off Baynes lol! they may not be related to VDT, but they are defo Narnia related. the similarity is much to obvious to deny.

      • JadistarkilleR says:

btw, i dont think any of the Narnia related art work on Dickenson's site are top secret, otherwise he wouldnt have uploaded them for all to see. whether or not he admits to any of his artwork as being related to the current or future filming, thtas up to him and his confid clause.

      • icarus says:

True, but there is absolutely no way that the picture i linked above has anything to do with any of the Narnia movies, even though the mouse in the purse has a reep-style feather and sword on him. And since that isnt Narnia, there is no reason to assume any of the other ones are Narnia related too, unless it can be proven beyond absolute doubt, which it can't. I would be more inclined to believe that the pictures in his sketch folder are simply just sketches, done for his own amusement, and thus he can draw whatever he likes, which seemingly he has.

    • Silver the Wanderer says:

YES NEWS!!! I was starving. I do hope this is from VDT – it definately looks like dragon cave.

    • Lillyput90 says:

Yep, that sums it up!!!! I almost jumped out of my chair when I got onto the website and saw something new in the news stream!

    • true-narnian_queen says:

I know finally we get some News!!!!!! For a while there i thought they had called the movie off!!!!!LOL!!!!

  2. Princess Arya says:

AH! AH! AH! We have news! Finally!!! *tries to compose self* Yes, yes. Very neat. I hope it is for VDT too.

  3. Narniamiss says:

I really hope it is also. If you look closely at this picture, you will see what looks like a treasure chest and some gold items on the bottom.

    • Starlily says:

Oooh, you're right! If it is the dragon cave, it's looking good! And that would mean they're keeping the old dragon and the treasure and everything in the movie, which is good.

    • WillMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

It could be that Goldwater place where the water turns things into gold. But it's most likely to be the dragon cave. Besides, I doubt they're already at the Goldwater part. And FINALLY news! I feel like I'm 70. It's been so long. I hope more news comes quickly!

  4. 7chronicles says:

Finally!!!!!!!!!! News!!!!!!!, I got spoiled with all the video's from Australia. I hope this is for Dawn Treader. The only other movie I could think that this could be used for would be Prince of Persia, I'm not evern sure if their done filming that though. Anyways, glad to get some news!

    • narniafan4ever says:

haha…I think we all got spoiled. Just look at most of the comments….(people freaking out cause we finally have news….) lol πŸ˜€

  5. GlimGlum says:

That would be nice if it is. Definitely want that scene to be in VDT. Keep sailing on cast and crew!

  6. Sammie says:

I'm just stupid, but is the cave unfinished, or is this just the outside of the cave they're filming?

Loved the other photos, especially the ones of the WWII/late 40s scenes (presumably from before the entry into Narnia). I really like how the new films have included period visuals, letting us see Lewis' context for the Pevensies' (and Eustace's) situation.

And so lovely to finally have news. Between filming at Cleveland Point and all the Barnes interviews for "Dorian Gray," I got so spoiled in terms of new news. πŸ™‚

    • Narniamiss says:

Yeah, I think they are just using this for like a close up shot of maybe Eustace or the treasure. They'll probably use something else for a far off shot.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Makes sense. Besides, they usually make two or three differently-scaled miniatures just for one scene. I think it's safe to assume this is merely a miniature.

    • narniaismylife says:

i like the WWII pics too

    • Aunt Letty says:

Which WWII pics are those? Where is everyone seeing these other items they're mentioning?

    • Fire Fairy says:

Wow, I feel stupid. At first I couldn't figure out what half the pictures had to do with Narnia. Then I read the comments….duh. *smacks self on forehead*. Wake up! Of course they're for the real world portion of the movie!

Love all the 1940's people on their bikes, though. I think that would be a very nice touch.

    • The Batman says:

I love the WWII pics too! And yay, that must be another pic of that truck from this story! http://www.narniaweb.com/2009/08/narnia-role-for-historic-bedford-truck/

  7. Going4God says:

Yes, I really do think it's for VODT!!! I mran, what else could it be for???

  8. yeswelovenarnia says:

  10. Mark Friedrich says:

  11. narnia_lover127 says:

o this is soo exciting!! finally some more news!

  12. Giuliano says:

    News finally!!!!!

  13. Eden says:

    NEWS! NEEEEEWWWWWSSSSSSS!!!!! FINALLY!
*coughs sheepishly* Erm, yes…. Anyways, I an SOOO glad we finally got some news, cause honestly I felt like I was in the middle of a desert where news would be water and no news would be… me dead. XD

Nice pictures, I wonder what scene the cave is for. But why don't you guys think the cave pic is for VotDT? It was in an article-thingy with other pics from the DT, so I kinda assumed it was from there too.

  14. Narniabigfan says:

NEWS!!!!!FINALLY! I was like dying for new news!!!And now, here it is!
And hope that would be Cave in VDT.

  15. NarniaLuver4Ever says:

Yay! I know everyone else has already said this but: WE HAVE NEWS!!!!!!! THANK HEAVENS!!! Anyway, I think that this could definitely be the dragon cave, because you can see what appears to be gold and a treasure chest in the cave if you look closely. Go Narnia!

  16. Braden Woodburn says:

Yay finally an update! Been awhile! But yeah, it does sorta look like a cave. Maybe the one that Eustace was in with that dragon! Anyways, good to see something new!

  17. Bother Eustace says:

If that's not a dragon cave, I don't know what is. There's gold and treasure spewing out of it!

  18. marcuydr says:

    finally news!!

  19. Frodo Fan says:

YAY! The first bit of news in weeks! Wow, that picture of the supposed dragon cave looks really cool! I hope it is for VDT.

    • narnian resident says:

hey i love your username! im a sam fan! lol! and aragorn fan, and legolas fan, and pippin fan, and gandalf fan, and merry fan, and gimli fan, and eowyn fan, and arwen fan, and faramir fan……im sorry i could go on forever! πŸ™‚

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

How about we just call you a Lord of the Rings fan! lol I love LOTR, too! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  20. Mark Hunt says:

This is good. I though its not how I imagined the cave. Then again I would like to see more angles and other photo shots of this set-piece.

    To Narnia and the North!!!!!!!

    • WillMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

I agree. Not what I imagined. I'm gonna pray hard for this to get good and no spoiled up like PC.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Same for me, but it almost seems better than what I imagined…

Oh, well. Enough speculation. It'll end up the way it'll end up, so no use getting worked up over what might be…

      • Aunt Letty says:

Right on, Fire Fairy! You said it.

    • narnian resident says:

it looks small too. perhaps a miniature?

      • Fire Fairy says:

That was what I thought. There's no way any actor's could fit. Besides, they used a lot of miniatures in the first two movies. A definite possibility.

      • JadistarkilleR says:

its not a miniature (thats the Movieworld Studios backlot).
its just the cave entrance, or perhaps a small part of the cave where actors will be interacting. they can always add the rest of the structure in post production

  21. Starlily says:

Hey, can anyone read the words above and below the photos? Does anyone know Spanish, or whatever language it's in? It probably doesn't say anything important, but still…

    • Long Live King Skandar says:

It isn't in Spaninsh, it's in Portugese. I think I heard that MundoNarnia was a Portugese site, but don't quote me on this. But since they're similar, I can tell that the paragraphs above and below the pics are just summarizing the plot released by Fox/Walden and the release date/cast of major characters(below) and summarizing what they've filmed so far (above), like locations, nothing really specific. Actually, I think it's mentioned that some of the scenes in the concept art were of the scenes before the Pevensies and Eustace enter Narnia. But the person writing keeps saying he/she doesn't know if it's related to VDT, but it's safe to guess so. I wish they had more info to give all of us Narnia nuts:) but I'm so grateful for the pics now I dont know what to do with myself…*cheers*

    • Eden says:

Here is a very rough translation:

"VotDT is filming inside a studio and therefore we are not getting much news. While I was looking for something, I found a photo of the set of the movie that is not on the ship set. Unfortunately, it does not show anything important.

I found another photo of a set but there is no confirmation one is for Voyage. It seems a large place with metal objects spread around the ground that, although it will go away for the movie (not sure what this means), goes together with the scenery of Dragon Island or even with Deathwater Island. This scenery could be what was described in a previous report.

A photo of Ben Barnes behind the scenes of the filming in Redland, Cleveland Point – Gold Coast, which was taken in the set of the ship.

To finish, some drawings that I found on the site of one of the concept artists for the movie (there is no confirmation if the drawings are connected with Voyage of the Dawn) and a few photos that I do not remember if I showed before; they show one of the first days of the filming of the movie in which they filmed scenes that would go on before the Pevensie and Eustace get into Narnia."

      Hope this helps!

      • Fire Fairy says:

That helps a LOT. It answers some of the previous questions about whether the concept world was really for VDT or not. Thank you!

      • JadistarkilleR says:

yes definitely helps a great deal. thanks for translating Eden! πŸ™‚

      • Eden says:

Oh, well I'm glad it helped! Hopefully I didn't translate it wrong…. πŸ™ But I'm pretty sure I got at least the basic meaning right. πŸ˜‰

    • Starlily says:

Thank you King Skandar and Eden! That was very helpful. πŸ™‚

  22. narniafan4ever says:

NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! horray!!!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I am so happy! That is really neat. At least we might have an idea of what scene they are filming now. πŸ˜€

  23. Aunt Letty says:

MundoNarnia is our new hero! Three cheers!

  24. Reepicheep775 says:

Finally! It looks like the news blackout is coming true, just like the Susan/Caspian romance before it.

  25. Narnia Lover says:

NEWS!!!!! It looks cool! I wish we knew for sure what it was!

  26. De says:

    Finally news!!!!!

  27. Narnia Is My Life says:

Finally I was about to go insane because there hasn't been any news for ages!!!
Anyway i really hope it is the cave!!

  28. narniaismylife says:

its most likely to be for vdt

  29. Lucy&Reepicheep says:

it probably is for Narnia, which is sooooooooooooooooooo cool.
    sail on VDT

  30. tenthofthatname says:

Finally some news! Loving the picture of Ben too and presumably Caspian's ring.

    • Aunt Letty says:

      what? Where?

    • WillMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

It's probably just a ring like we wear for fun. Nothing serious like marriage though. Well… let's hope not. They're not filming Ramadu's daughter YET! they can't be that far in filming. And Ben is not married. If he is, WHY DIDN'T I KNOW?!?!?!?!
PS. I do NOT have a crush on him. I ONLY like William M. and Skandar K. possibly Josh Hutcherson, but not as much as Will and Skandy.

      • Starlily says:

Even if he does have rings, they're probably rings that kings wear to show their power. King rings. πŸ™‚ In history, rings don't always have to mean marriage. Like you said, they can be just for dress up. I wonder if he wears them all through the movie? I would think they'd get in the way…

      • tenthofthatname says:

I think the same as Starlily, it's a ring to signify his royalty or some such. He's wearing it in another one of his King Caspian photos, the costume with the brown coat that has slashed sleeves.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Interesting. Does this ring on Caspian's finger have any significance with the upcoming movie? Or are we simply over-analyzing a mere accessory that Ben Barnes decided to wear on a random day? Both are very possible (especially since we Narnia nuts over-analyze every little bit of news…). I would guess it's part of his costume, just because he's in costume in the picture.

      • tenthofthatname says:

Fire Fairy: I think it's part of his costume too, which is nice to see but I am a costume nut so it's one of those things I fall for. It would be nice if it has a backstory but it's not required. I just love seeing Caspian looking kingly in some way, shape, or form.

      • JadistarkilleR says:

its a costume ring. its part of King Caspian's overall look. he switches costumes but a few things are part of the "standard" Caspian attire– the ring, long hair (worn lose or half tied), the sword Rhindon (except for that one time we saw when it was with Edmund) and black boots.

i'm a little iffy with the addition of the ring, mostly because King Caspian is swerving a little too close to the Strider-look already (which in all honesty, it cant be helped). but the ring is kinda unnecessary, unless of course they added something about it in the story.

my friend just mentioned to me… Captain Jack Sparrow has a large ring on his index finger too. and it looks similar to that (green/blue with a silver band). ohhh boy, and i was really hoping they would distance themselves from anything POTC related.

      • tenthofthatname says:

JadistarkilleR: I agree with you he has a Strider look going for him which disappointed me at first because I really enjoyed his younger look as Prince Caspian. I didn't feel a beard was necessary and the wavy extensions will be missed, but at the same time he does carry the look well and it definitely makes him look older, more than three years in my opinion. But then again I am one of those people who thought he looked 17 in PC. Now he looks mid to late 20s, not that I mind. Hopefully the ring is something to signify kingship. I looked through my folder of VDT set pictures and so far that ring is the only piece of jewelry I've seen on him between two different costumes. The copyrighted photos of him in the wine colored coat are my favorite but his left hand is obscured in all of them sigh. I noticed Lucy carrying her cordial but there's a Telmarine hilt at Edmund's side in those photos, Rhindon's ownership continues to baffle.

      • Aunt Letty says:

I love the costume element, too, being a professional, as it were. The ring, as others have speculated, looks very much like a signet ring such as a person of rank would wear long ago. As such, it works as an important symbol of his royalty. But, it's also the sort of thing he might leave behind as proof of Trumpkin's official stewardship. It would be funny, though, if it just happened to be something Ben Barnes picked up in a shop that day and decided to wear. Not likely, since he's in costume.

I was thinking he's got this whole Orlando Bloom resemblance going on…(shudder!) is it just me?

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

I was thinking that took, Aunt Letty! That's too funny!

      • Princess Arya says:

I didn't see the pic you all were talking about so I looked again. AKK! Caspian's hair looks CREEPILY like Strider…and with the addition of the beard….AKK x 2!

I just hope that they aren't doing it intentionally. If they aren't, I have nothing wrong with the costume. He seems to look kingly to me, but if they are doing it to intentionally remind one of LOTR…UGGHH!

I'm not too concerned about the ring. Surely it's just a royalty ring of some kind. Anyway, I can just imagine Ben wearing it for whatever little reason, and then of course here go we NarniaWebbers analyzing it! Haha at that.

      • Starlily says:

Yeah, Caspian is starting to look like an Orlando Bloom/Aragorn mix. I think he looks good and everything, I just hope it won't look too obvious in the movie. :S We don't want anyone thinking Narnia is trying to copy the Pirates movies, or LOTR.

  31. cool! I was wondering when we were gonna get some new :p

  32. sirsimon says:

HALLEULAH finally some news at bloody last!!!!!
*Straightens hair* so anyway, the dragon cave looks cool, looks like they are sticking to the plotline,

What happened to the Dawn Treader???

    • narnian resident says:

they moved the dawn treader to a new place, so they can continue filming, but im not really sure where. and then after that i believe they're going to give it to that guy who bought it(how could he i dont know). and i wonder how you can use the word halleluyah and bloody in the same sentence…are you trying to sound british? πŸ™‚ lol because they use that word to describe something annoying or terrible.

      • decarus says:

This is weird news. It is news that we really don't know whether or not it is actual news. I don't really think it looks like a cave, but it is a rock with some gold at the bottom. I have no opinion.

    • narnian resident says:

like, "where is that bloody map?" with the british accent of course. πŸ™‚

    • 220chrisTian says:

that sure looks like the dragon cave!
im so crazy for the next movie that i made the Dawn Treader my DESKTOP!!!!!!!!!!

  43. Samuel the Magnificent says:

    finally some more news!

  44. Polly Plummer says:

That looks great. It's wonderful to have news at last! From the photos of England – it looks as if they're going to expand on Lewis's description of what was happening with the Pevensies before they go into Narnia. Like they did with the bomb raid in LWW

    • narnian resident says:

it would be cool if possibly they have a scene of susan going off to america, or peter with the professor, but i dont think they will, they dont have the actors. it would be cool though to have a scene of lucy and edmund driving up to eustace's place, or something like that. im sure they'll have the scene where he teases them about narnia in the beiginning.

      • narniafan4ever says:

I sure hope so…It really sets the whole mood in the book and, in a way, gives the audience a glimpse of the characters and their personalities. πŸ˜€

      • Fire Fairy says:

Definitely. I always wondered what it was like for the Pevensies in the real world, and I really loved how they went into that for the first two movies. I can't wait to see how they go about it for VDT.

      • Aunt Letty says:

        Best opener ever:

"There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it."

Those first two pages are chock full of hints to the "real world" story going on between Narnia visits. I've always wondered what exam Peter was studying for. It doesn't sound like a term-exam in a regular class. More like some kind of entrance exam. What do you suppose someone who's already ruled a kingdom would choose to study at university? Theater, maybe? Or, music? Ahhhh, I know: biology or medicine. Just in case. You know.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

They should have a narator read that part of the story and then have him give a little background on what has been going on since they left Narnia….then again, maybe that would be a little corny….never mind….just thinking out loud. πŸ™‚

  45. narnian resident says:

wow how long has it been like almost a month? or maybe just a few weeks. idk im just glad we have something! i love that picture of the huge wave, i wonder what that could be for? i still am not sure of where they are now-the crew and set. did someone say the Gold Coast? i cant remember if they told us already.

I love the 40's era trucks in Mundo's gallery!

  47. King Skandar the Just says:

YAY!!!!!!!! news!!! I hope that it's the dragon's cave… but it's kind of a light color though.

  48. iLiveInNarnia says:

Ah…finally new news!!! πŸ˜€ This looks quite interesting. I agree that it does look like a cave full of treasure…we'll just have to wait and see! Thank's for breaking this what seemed never-ending time of no news with this awesome picture!! haha

I am getting soooooooooooooooooooooo excited for this movie! yay!!!!!! *jumps with joy, but then quickly attempts to recover and act like a normal human being so as not to scare anyone else around…*

  50. always narnian says:

hmmmmm…How interesting. It probably is something like that. Who knows though. =D

  51. Fire Fairy says:

I'm just as excited as everybody else that we finally have some news, but I don't dare go all spastic like everybody else (I'm very close to it, though). That just goes to show just how much we all depend on NarniaWeb to keep our sanity intact (or keep up a healthy level of insanity, if you want to look at it that way…). I must say I really appreciate this bit of news, though, whether it's really for VDT or not. I'm just glad to get some new photos to look at. I think it's safe to say the first picture is for VDT, but I'm not so sure about the other ones. It's very possible, though.

What about this story? Nobody's posted it on NW yet and it's recent hard news! πŸ™

Yes!!! News!!! Finally! I have been checking Narniaweb.com every day and nothing until now! Come on spies do your stuff! Good news though. It looks like it could possibly maybe be a dragon cave, but it looks far from completion. It needs to be bigger and the stone needs to be darker this is a dragon's cave people, but good work. I only saw it once a few months ago for the first time. I read the books last summer. I'm no LotR expert! (yet) πŸ˜€ Arwen's role is a lot bigger in the movie; she only appears twice in the book that I recall.

Yeah, I didn't see them all until last year. I love them, though. I think they did a good job at staying pretty true to the books. πŸ˜€

  56. Aunt Letty says:

I wonder if someone can help me? I wanted to see all these pictures you're mentioning, so I went to the MundoNarnia site (yeah, I'm so techno-savvy, I thought MundoNarnia was a person's username until you enlightened me) and as far as I can tell, you have to register to look at any of the "fotos". So, I tried to, but got to a step in the registration process with a bunch of asterisked questions in Portuguese…it can't be that you all speak Portuguese, how did you get to these "fotos"?

It's not an emergency or anything, but if someone would be willing to enlighten me, I'd be grateful.

This is awesome!!!!! I only hope we don't have to wait until there's more than 400 comments on THIS story before we get some more news:) That last one was insane…just shows how crazy we are about Narnia!!
And seeing the pics of the truck reminds me…I really hope that the scenes with the "real world" are really good, like the ones in LWW. The opening scene and the train station scene as well as the ones inside the Professor's house really introduced the plot and gave us some really important info (ex. Edmund's estrangement from his siblings.) PC didn't really have scenes like that. I really hope that VDT uses a good balance of "here" scenes and "there" scenes too…hope I'm making sense:)

    • Fire Fairy says:

No kidding, it's only been, what, two days now, and we've already got over 100 comments! Can you say "Fanatic" with a capital "F"??

    • Aunt Letty says:

Fantastic Fanatics. Huzzah! Narniaweb Fanatics are the best kind.

King Skandar, what about the way we see Susan moving toward the attitude that keeps her from answering the call in Last Battle? And the change in Peter and Edmund's relationship? In LWW, we have Peter rescuing Ed from his own "stupidity", and in PC we have a reversal of that situation, of sorts. It neatly foreshadows their roles in Narnia later in the film, don't you think? Feel free to disagree!

I love how Edmund plunges in to support his brother without having any idea what the fight's about. Then, minutes later he says, "I'm not holding hands with YOU!".

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

        haha!!!!!! You make me laugh, Aunt Letty! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ K, I'm done now….lol

      • Long Live King Skandar says:

You made some really good points, Aunt Letty. I LOVED the part that you mentioned, where Ed shouts "I'm not holding YOUR hand!" Hilarious!
The characters' overshadowing was very subtle, if detectable at all. I know that in cases like these, where the Pevensie kids are maturing due to age and their experiences in Narnia, their changes must be kept subtle to keep it realistic. However, I wouldn't really say that Peter rescued Edmund in LWW; Aslan did. Peter's character isn't really developed through the transition from LWW to PC; he suddenly goes from being a great guy to being self-righteous. Ed does indeed save him several times; however this shows Edmund's growth, not Peter's. It shows how Edmund has caught up to Peter with respect to maturity/faith in Narnia. As for Susan, it is true that her initial reluctance to be back foreshadows her role in LB. However, I think that too much time was spent developing her relationship with Caspian, rather than her relationship with Narnia…one more reason why I didn't approve of that whole romance thing. When she's about to leave, she tells Caspian, "I'm glad I came back." Caspian should NOT have been the reason why she was happy she had come back…I'm afraid people were led to believe otherwise. The main point is, we want the average moviegoer (especially those who don't have any background knowledge of Narnia) to walk out of the theater understanding the importance of the Pevensie's absolute faith in Narnia as well as their evolution, as characters. In my opinion, the only one who was developed well enough was Edmund, probably because of the immensity of his "stupidity" back in LWW. The filmmakers had more to go on there.
I hope you see what I meant…did i write too much? Yeah, I think I did…oh well πŸ™‚ The more the better. How do you spell Narnia fanatics? N-A-R-N-I-A-W-E-B-B-E-R-S!! haha

      • Aunt Letty says:

        King Skandar,

sorry, I guess I didn't write ENOUGH:)my comments are too cryptic. What I meant was A. Susan's subtle interactions with the gawky young man at the newsstand and her absorption in the fashion mag. and, B. Peter "rescuing" Ed when the latter runs back into the house during the air raid.

What you said about Edmund's character development made sense to me. It's true that Edmund had the most space for character development. It's hard to imagine what else could have been done to give Peter's character an arc. As I've said elsewhere (at great length!), I found his behavior in PC painful to watch, but have made my peace with it.

I just sort of wince and close my eyes in response to the Caspian/Susan thing because I like the rest of the movie well enough, but I agree that it's distasteful. Your point about the "I'm glad I came back" line makes sense. It could also be read another way maybe; the filmmakers could be showing how flirtations and romance are becoming much more the focus of Susan's life than Narnia and the things it stands for are. It SHOULDN'T have been her reason for being glad, but since they had gone and established this whole romantic angle, and since her heart clearly isn't in the right place by the next time we "see" her in the books, I can see how it works to shift her from Queen Susan to Susan the Worldly. Still, that hug and kiss are hard to take. Seems most of the Narniawebbers are in agreement on that.

      • Long Live King Skandar says:

Yeah, I think we're mostly in agreement, Aunt Letty. And I had my a-ha! moment when you clarified πŸ™‚ I know exactly what you meant now… thanks!
Actually, I kind of interpreted Ed running back into the house as kind of sweet; he seemed to be really attached to his father, more than his other siblings. Sure, it was stupid to run back in and almost get killed, but it was kind of like "awww.." Maybe the filmmakers did that to make him more likeable and not entirely bad, since in the book it's implied that he was fine until he started going to school or something. And with Susan, I agree that the mag., etc. foreshadow her role throughout PC and at the end of the chronicles. Her "glad i came back" line definitely implies what you said; however like the rest of the hints it was very subtle and most people would just take it at face value and assume she's talking about Caspian and not think about what she will be like later on in the books. I'm glad we're on the same page now πŸ˜€ You always have such good points to make Aunt Letty

      • Aunt Letty says:

"Sure, it was stupid to run back in and almost get killed, but it was kind of like "awww.." Maybe the filmmakers did that to make him more likeable and not entirely bad, since in the book it’s implied that he was fine until he started going to school or something."

Yes, I think you're right, there. He is pretty attached to his dad.

There's an aspect of Edmund that is almost missing from the films; he's essentially the 40's equivalent of a tech-geek. Even after his change of heart, he's still fairly argumentative and overly equipped with facts in PC. I liked the way that "electric torch" gave the nod to that part of him in PC.

Also, I feel like I should clarify something; when I said Susan's heart was in the wrong place, I didn't mean she was "bad", just that she doesn't want Narnia as much as she wants other things. Much has been made by critics of the books of Susan being "left out" of heaven at the end of LB. It's been said that she's cast into hell for getting interested in clothes and boys or for growing up, etc. I don't think that's what happens at all. I think she simply gets what she wants, and there's ample textual support for the idea that the others are sad about that, but I see no evidence that she's condemned by Aslan.

        Shutting up now.

      • Long Live King Skandar says:

I agree that it's wrong and unrealistic to label Susan as condemned or something just because she places attention on "worldly" things; maybe more than she should have, but that's besides the point. It makes sense that since Susan was the last one to accept Narnia, that she would sort of lose touch with it after not being in it for a while (after PC). I love how you said Ed is sort of a techy-geek, never thought of that. But he is one, for sure. Clarifiation: an AWESOME techy geek, one that can swordfight, ride a horse, and fly with griffins, etc. Can't get much better than that:)

      • Fire Fairy says:

If you don't mind my butting in on this conversation, I'd like to add my two cents worth…

Aunt Letty, on Susan being "left out" of heaven in LB, I'd like to say that I feel those critics who think it means she went to hell are taking completely the wrong way. I'd always gotten the impression that even though she was "left out", she was also given another chance. Considering the fact that she was the only one in the Pevensie family that was not on that train when it crashed, she was therefore the only one that didn't die at that time. I always felt that C.S. Lewis was implying that Aslan was giving her another chance to come back, simply because she was not ready to come home. She had lost faith in Aslan and Narnia, so Aslan was perhaps giving her a little more time in the mortal world to redeem herself. And since Lewis never tells us what happens after LB, who knows…?

On the subject of Edmund's and Peter's individual growth, I think you both have made very good points. I always felt that the filmmakers pinpointed Edmund's trasformation and growth to a T. Peter on the other hand…

Oh, wow. I just realized I have somewhere to go. Stupid me, spending all my time on NarniaWeb. I'll have to finish what I was saying later!

      • Aunt Letty says:

Excellent points, both of you make.

It does seem as though Susan is being given more time to make her choice, doesn't it?

I don't believe we ever "get" a reward we don't want, and that divine punishment is more a matter of what you really want; do you want light or darkness? We choose. I don't think God wants us as hand-puppets, but as independent beings, to act for themselves. What would be the point of us, otherwise? How would we truly worship Him without Him having first created us to be independent? Which means, of course, that we have to be free to choose spiritual death, too. God lets us do that, though He does everything possible to help us choose life. He does not, however, rearrange truth so that we can have joy in choosing darkness, in choosing not-God. So, in my mind, Susan's choices are still open, but Aslan will not force her to heaven if that is not her choice. We humans often have a tough time giving and receiving that kind of love.

Ok, I may have just fastened a large bullseye to my chest with those statements…

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

I hope you don't mind me butting in here either….I have only one cent to add though….

You guys all make great points. And I wanted to add to what you said, Aunt Letty. God created us with free will; with choices. Otherwise, we would be robots to Him. We were created for His enjoyment and pleasure. No one gets any pleasure out of a computerized person saying "I love you" one hundred times and going through the motions.

Same thing with love…..You can't force someone to love you. If I went up to someone, put a gun to their head, and said "Love me"….they can't love me. Love is a free will choice, not something that is forced.

And I agree with you Fire Fairy in that it seems as though Susan wasn't on the train so that she would have a second chance. But, I also believe that if you keep rejecting God's call, you will eventually be unable to accept God's gift of Eternal Life. And it isn't that God isn't able to reach you, but that you aren't able to hear God's voice. Yes, He is powerful and strong and mighty and able to make us hear Him, but like I said earlier….He gave us free will and because of that free will, we are able to get ourselves in a jam. Think about Saul in the Old Testament. He was anointed by God and blessed, but when He started to ignore God and his commands, after a while, he was no longer able to hear from God. He went to Samuel but Samuel had nothing for Saul.

I'd like to know what you think about all this…. πŸ˜€

        Go Narnia! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

btw….Don't think I would go to someone and put a gun to their head and tell them to love me….I was just using it as an example. I would NEVER do that! Just thought I should clarify….lol

      • Fire Fairy says:

I wasn't saying I think Susan is being forced to be good. Not at all. You guys make very good points, though.

I was more thinking of Susan's situation being compared to the parable of the lost sheep. Didn't the shepherd leave the ninety and nine and go after the one that was lost in the wilderness? That's kind of what I feel like Aslan's doing for Susan. Susan has been lost; Aslan is going after her. Now, the parable never says that the Shepherd forced the sheep to come back with him. I truly don't think Aslan wants to force Susan to come back. That goes completely against his nature. But, if Susan does accept his outstretched hand (paw?), as did the sheep in the parable, then Aslan (the Shepherd) will "bring her home on his shoulders" and He and His friends will rejoice over her return, just as the Shepherd carried the sheep home on his shoulders and rejoiced over their return with his friends. In other words, I feel that Aslan loves Susan very much, and longs for her return, and will rejoice if she does, but He will not force her. Instead, He is providing her with the opportunity (leaving the fold to search for the lamb) to return back to Him.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Yes, I completely agree. And I love that parable. It seems to apply to my everyday life, you know? I fall so many times, but He is right there to pick me up when I fall and carry my on His shoulders.:D

      • 220chrisTian says:

Great conversation, guys. πŸ˜€ I agree with all of you and I don't really have anything to add. Regarding PC, I think King Skandar's comment ["However, I think that too much time was spent developing her relationship with Caspian, rather than her relationship with Narnia"] says it all. πŸ™‚

      • Long Live King Skandar says:

Thanks, 220chrisTian πŸ™‚ Great comments everybody. I really like the parallels that were made with the parables. I'd never thought of it before like that but it makes perfect sense. That's the whole beauty of the Narnia series; CS Lewis says and portrays such important, essential truths. He illustrates them so that any reader of any age can appreciate them and take them to heart.
I think that CS Lewis left Susan's future kind of up in the air on purpose; I don't think that we are supposed to know for sure. It's just between Susan and Aslan/Narnia, just like our own individual decisions to accept Christ are up to each of us, individually. I feel like Lewis wanted to show that without actually saying, "We can never know what happened." (ahh!!! does that line ring a bell??? anybody?? lucy…aslan…PC…btw they totally killed that line. In the book it actually sounded like Aslan knew what he was talking about, not just being vague like he was in the movie…grr)
By the way, I'm curious: did anybody think of my "name" as showing anything other than me being a Skandar fan? (which I am… πŸ™‚ ) We say "long live king.." whoever, but people who have accepted Christ will live FOREVER. Skandar's said that he's an atheist, and so the best thing that I think I can do for him as a fan is to pray for him, that one day he'll see the light and truly accept the gift of eternal life in heaven.

      • Fire Fairy says:

I like your point, Long Live King Skandar. It's kind of like when Edmund was rescued, and had his little "talk" with Aslan. I love how they don't let you know what was said in the movie. The conversation was between Aslan and Edmund, and no one else.

By the way, Long Live King Skandar, I think that's very sweet of you. I, too, was rather disappointed to find that Skandar is an atheist. It feels like such a waste! Then again, it saddens me when anyone proclaims themselves atheists. A few of my cousins, who were raised Christians, did that very thing. It's rather heartbreaking, really. But then again, my dad does have a saying I really like: "In a time of war or great danger, even the Atheists will turn to some sort of god." Hopefully one day they will all feel it necessary to turn to Christ. We can only love them and continue to pray for them.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Yeah, King Skandar. I have been praying for Skandar as well. I was really sad to hear that he is an atheist. I think part of it might be the fact that his great-great-great…how ever many "greats"… Grandfather was Charles Darwin. Anyway, to think that he (Skandar) seems to be a good person, but that he might miss Jesus is quite sad… πŸ™ Just keep praying…
And Fire Fairy, you seem to have some awesome bible knowledge! It seems like I will sit down to reply to something and you have already replied exactly what I was going to say! lol. Anyways, this has been a great discussion, and I hope we can continue! πŸ™‚ It's kind of funny how all our conversations end up talking about Jesus! It's awesome! πŸ˜€
And also, I really hope that when they put that scene with Lucy and Aslan in the magician's room, that they don't screw that line up again! (the "to know what would have happened is not for you to know" line). It needs to imply that Aslan knows what would have happened but chooses on to tell. In PC, they made it sound like He [Aslan] had no idea what would have happened either. He is supposed to know everything. πŸ™‚

      • 220chrisTian says:

Thank you all SO MUCH! I’ve been praying for Skandar since January. His dad’s book-turned-movie "Creation" [about Darwin] premiered in the UK last month. And people are preparing big Darwin celebrations in November. Check out my Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=117014636287 It’s called "Narnia cast and crew: pray!" GOD BLESS YOU ALL! KEEP PRAYING!

      • Fire Fairy says:

Thanks, narniafan4ever <3. I didn't really think I had "awesome bible knowledge", as you put it, but thanks! And I'm glad we're always on the same page! πŸ˜‰ But, yeah, I'm kind of a nut when it comes to comparing Narnia to the bible. The parallels are endless!! That's probably why MN and LB are my favorite books–they are so close to my personal views on the creation and the end of the world! I would love to hear any opinions and favorite comparisons, if anybody's willing to share. I think the conversations that end up being about Jesus are the best! For Narnia, and for Aslan!!!!

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Yeah, no problem! πŸ˜€ But it seems kind of like you and me are kindred spirits in a way! I am such a nut too when it comes to comparing the bible with Narnia…. and that is also why I like LoTR as well. And you are so right….the parallels are endless! I am a little nervous in the Magician's Nephew and the Last Battle being created cause I don't want them to mess the whole story up! Same with Horse and his Boy….and the Silver Chair….and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader…..yeah. haha.
Were you part of the discussion, Fire Fairy, where someone asked what a seance was and we ended up talking about the Jesus? It is too funny how whenever Christians start talking, they always end up talking about Jesus. πŸ™‚ It is such a comfort to meet fellow sis's and bro's in Christ. πŸ˜€ Sail on, Narnia and Aslan!!!!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • Fire Fairy says:

Glad to know I've found a kindred spirit :D. Yeah, I've been a bit nervous about how they do those as well. For me, the most important aspect of MN will be how they do the music. That is going to be very difficult to get right, yet I hope they do!!! And LB, well, there's so much involved with the end of Narnia and all that that they might pass over…they better not!!! I have to say my favorite part in LB is when Tirian goes through the stable door and comes face to face with Tash, and is almost attacked when, "But immediately, from behind Tash, strong and calm sas the summer sea, a voice said: 'Begone, Monster, and take your lawful prey to your own place: in the name of Aslan and Aslan's great Father, the Emperor-over-Sea.'" It just gives me the chills! I also love it when, afterword, Tirian meets the seven friends of Narnia. Since Lucy is my favorite, I even designed a dress for her as Queen Lucy the Valiant when they banish Tash and discover true Narnia! πŸ˜€ *Ahem*, but, yeah. I better stop, or this whole comment will be filled with my favorite passages! Anyhow, they better do it right!!!

      • Fire Fairy says:

Sorry, narniafan4ever…I just realized you asked me a question, and I never answered you!! Talk about getting carried away….*sheepish grin*

No, I wasn't part of that conversation…but I wish I had been! I love all of these conversations, especially, as I said before, when we start comparing Narnia to the bible! But, yeah, I better go before I let myself get carried away again… πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

haha…that's okay. It is really easy to get carried away….trust me. πŸ™‚ I get carried away all the time! It is something I need to get control of….lol But it is okay to get carried away if your talking about Narnia or Jesus, right? πŸ˜€
Yes, yes….the music. That would be hard part to do… Hmmm…how does the book describe it? I need to go back and read that book again. I have been so caught up in this Voyage of the Dawn Treader fiasco that I have been reading the book over and over again! lol. yeah, you can tell I am a Narnia Nut….lol.
I love that scene with Tash and Tirian, too! And it seems as though there is so much speculation as to why so and so made it into Narnia, and why others didn't. But, that is the way it will be in the end-times (which I believe we are living in right now). There will be people who we thought were saved, but then we won't see them in Heaven, while others we will think that there is no way they were Christians when they died…but then they will find they are in Heaven!
I have to say…my favorite scene in this movie (VoDT) is the scene where Eustace (as a dragon) meets Aslan and is told to shed his skin. And I realize that it could be graphic and all, but there is a way to make it not so graphic at all. You just don't really show the first couple times that Eustace sheds his skin…unless it is more like pealing a potato….yeah. But when it comes to Aslan taking it off, they could show Aslan raised up on his hind legs just about to scratch and then….the screen goes black and the next thing you know, you have Eustace back as a boy walking up to Edmund and then they talk like in the book. I think that would probably be the best way to make it without it going over the PG standards…but I thought the scene in PC where Caspain has his sword going into Miraz's neck was maybe a little more than PG would allow…but that might just be me…idk.
Well, as you can see, I got carried away talking about Narnia. See? you are in good company….lol

haha….I seriously laughed out loud when I saw that you had Lucy's dress design all laid out. haha!!! You are such a Narnia Nut! lol πŸ˜€

      • Princess Arya says:

        Wow, great discussion, guys!

        narniafan4ever:
I looked on a website some time back — I think it may have been IMDB — that described 'Prince Caspian's rating. Do you know the part at the end of the night raid where Edmund is flying on a creature over the castle, and it shows all the dead creatures where the battle was? (*flinches*) It said that particular scene is strong for a PG movie.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Wow! To me, that is nothing compared to the little blood stream trickling down Miraz's neck when Caspian goes into the bedroom to take revenge….hmm…
Well, that scene plus the one where Peter looks back at all his warriors trapped in the castle made me cry! I cry every time I watch it. And I have seen it like a million times! Okay, not that much…lol…but I have seen it a lot of times. πŸ˜€
Haha…We have kind of taken over half of this page for this discussion! lol. Again, just another proof that we are both Narnia and Jesus nuts! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

I meant…the scene where Edmund is flying over the battle field as well as the one with Peter and the trapped warriors made me cry. During the Caspain/Miraz scene, I was cheering for Caspian, but also screaming at the TV trying to get him to just go and get the gate open, and also trying to watch the scene with one eye closed cause I didn't know how bad they might have made that scene as far as graphics go…sorry…that was kind of jumbled and definatly not a good example of grammar…lol. πŸ˜€

      • Puddleglum says:

The scene where Eustace, as a dragon, meets Aslan is also one of my favorit parts of the entire series. What better picture of salvation that is beyond our own power.
Great dialoge. Keep the witness alive.

Man, a lot has happened over the weekend. I need to get caught up. I must say I agree that the blood trickling down Miraz's neck was a little intense. I could see why they still considered it PG, though, seeing what most PG-13 movies get away with these days. πŸ™ I don't really think all the dead bodies in that one scene was graphic, though. (Well, it was, but I don't understand why that one was the part that was a "little strong" for PG). The raid was a very moving scene, though. It's still a bit tough for me to watch it (that doesn't keep me from watching it, though!). πŸ˜‰

Uh-oh, I've got to run! There's no such thing as taking a quick look on NarniaWeb…

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

        Hey there, again.
I just realized that they took my other comment off…oops.
So, To explain the website I posted…It was just showing how C.S.Lewis's training in Greek myth come through in the books. I still like the books a lot, but I just thought I would post the website for you all to see so that you could be discerning when you read the books. And since we have all been talking about how Aslan seems to represent Jesus an such, I just thought I would post this so that you could see what the characters really represent…But I still think that some of the aspects of the story can be great for witnessing. πŸ˜€
And be careful when you view the website…the material is pretty heavy….just so you know.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

And yea, Fire Fairy….It is hard to just spend like a few minutes on Narnia Web…it turns into a few hours very quickly….lol πŸ˜€

      • Aunt Letty says:

Good heavens, I go away for the weekend and the Narniawebbers write a book here…

Great discussion, everyone. I'd forgot about the moment when Peter confronts Tash. It always gives me chills, too.

As for the rating of PC, what about that scene right after the duel, when Peter beheads (bloodlessly, I might add) the telmarine soldier who comes after him? That always strikes me as being a bit over-the-top for a PG rating. (Gonzo the muppet: "he DIED? This is supposed to be a kids' movie!!)

      • Fire Fairy says:

Yeah, narniafan4ever, I have to very careful not to spend too much time on here, or my dad’ll block it with parental controls. He did do it once, too, so I have to be extra careful. And since I got my little sister hooked on Narnia, he’s had to block her from it. He doesn’t want us to become obsessed and waste too much time on NarniaWeb… *looking around and whistling innocently* :S

      • Fire Fairy says:

Hi Aunt Letty! Glad you're back. I see your point about the beheading, but then again, images of Star Wars flash through my head…Darth Maul being sliced in half…Mace Windu beheading Jango Fett…and the only PG-13 Episode was Episode 3! (By the way, I love Gonzo the muppet!).

      • Fire Fairy says:

Oh, and narniafan4ever, about Lucy's dress, I don't exactly have it LAID out. I'm definitely not that good. I just have a *coughs* few sketches done.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Yeah, that is what I meant by "laid out". πŸ˜€ That is pretty good, if you ask me! πŸ™‚
btw…I loved your little comment on the next page about Aslan and the color scheme thing. That is so neat. πŸ™‚

      • Fire Fairy says:

Thanks. When I noticed it, it was too cool not to share, even though it was like 1:30 in the morning. I was analyzing the movie for my humanities class, so I was in an analytical mindset, otherwise, I doubt I'd have noticed it.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Um, yeah, I just looked at the time on that comment…it was more like two in the morning… *sheepish grin*

      • Aunt Letty says:

Wow, Fire Fairy, you can think at 2:00 a.m.??? I'm impressed.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Hate to say this, Aunt Letty, but there's nothing impressive about it. I think my cirdadian rhythm is nocturnal, or at least completely screwed up (I went to bed at 4 this morning, for example). Not a good habit to have as a full-time student. I actually don't think very well at all in the mornings.

      • Aunt Letty says:

I should not be on here right now, I should be on my treadmill, and I will, in a minute.

I was just reading some of the earlier entries in this discussion, about atheism. I wonder if often, when people say they are atheists, what they really mean is that they haven't been able to reconcile themselves with whatever interpretation of God they've been exposed to? I also think that if kids grow up in a home where they aren't taught to seek after God, then maybe the only image they would have of Him would be the one they get from television and other mass media. Increasingly, that is not a god anyone who thinks or is open to truth could worship. So, maybe, and this is just a thought, maybe in that situation it could actually be the more intelligent, pure-hearted ones who choose atheism, rather than believe something so irrational.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not asserting that this is the case with the actors you were discussing above: don't know them personally and their personal lives aren't my business. I was speaking in general terms and would be very interested to hear what you all think about this.

P.S. Fire Fairy, I hear you about the sleep thing! If you were my kid, we'd be going round and round on your sleeping habits. I'm a "early to bed, early to rise" kinda gal. My oldest son had the same issue as you and he just never could sleep on a "normal" schedule, which made school difficult. Plus, he had to go to seminary at 6:00, before school every morning. Being in the army, I think, shifted his sleep schedule around for him somewhat, so it can be done, but short of a drill instructor in your face, I'm not sure what the solution is.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Fire Fairy…I wish I could think at 2:00 in the morning! Of course, I can't think of a reason why I would need to think that late….or I should say…early….lol. But, I heard that most teens have an internal clock or something like that which causes thier body to want to stay up later…or something like that. I don't know how acurate it is, but it seems to me that it might be true cause it is something that lots of us struggle with…including me…lol. And I am not making an excuse for myself and others, but it might explain why teens can stay up later and still sort of function while most adults can't…just a thought. πŸ˜€
Aunt Letty: That is an interesting way to look at it. But, I think that everyone can have their own little "god" in a way just by what they choose to listen to, follow, and worship….as in, worship by spending too much time focused on it. But, I think that most people might call themselves atheists cause they don't want to admit that there is a God who is out there. Because to them, God is a controlling power who requires us to give up our human nature…and that is a hard thing to do! But because we have Jesus, we can have the strength to do that. But to most people, God is restricting. To them, if they choose to follow God, that means that they have to give up their comfort and pleasure in sin. And Christianity is not at all easy. But today, there are so many churches that are preaching the idea that we can do what ever we want and God is all about feel-good. That is not true! Yes, God gives us hope and safety in Jesus, but it is not a religion to be built around us, it is a religion that is built around Him(Jesus)! God is not a supernatural puppet who will do whatever we ask Him to. He knows what is best for us and sometimes He will say "no". But he will say "no" because he loves and us. πŸ™‚ We were created for God's enjoyment and pleasure. He wants to be truly loved by someone. He wants to be glorified! He wants us and our hearts.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now….lol πŸ˜€

      • Fire Fairy says:

It's becoming increasingly difficult to add to this conversation, especially with all of the scrolling up you have to do to reach the reply button. πŸ˜‰

Aunt Letty, you make a very interesting point. I had never thought of it that way, but in a way, it does make sense. Although, I do have cousins that were raised in religious families but ended up atheists (or, at least, that's what they claim to be). Then again, one of them said that part of the reason he/she doesn't believe in God is because he/she can't comprehend one person creating everything. Then again, I'm not quoting him/her directly, but what I heard from someone else, so I can't say that's the real reason why. I guess what I'm saying is that my cousin's situation is not from a lack of being taught; rather, it came about because he/she was unwilling to be open-minded about a certain doctrine and would not trust in the Lord about something he/she had a difficult time understanding. So sometimes it's a closed-minded attitude that stimulates Atheism.

Oh, and Aunt Letty, it makes me feel a little bit better knowing I'm not the only one with this problem. I'll just have to keep praying and keep trying to change my nocturnal tendencies. πŸ™‚

      • Fire Fairy says:

By the way, Aunt Letty and narniafan4ever, are the three of us the only ones adding to this conversation anymore? It seems to me that the past several days it's only been us three! Just you three?
Well I must admit to being lazy and enjoying reading rather than writing.
To add a comment to narniafan4ever. Your comment on how people do not want to "give up" was right on. Many people want a "god" who comes to their beck-and-call, like a genie. But God, like Aslan, is not tame.

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

I'm glad that I am not the only one who feels that way about God, Puddleglum. πŸ˜€ That is probably why I can't stand the whole name-it-and-claim-it thing that so many people are getting into today. It's just another part of the prosperity gospel. It is like making God into a Supernatural Puppet! And it is also testing God in a way, which is clearly something we are told not to do in the bible.
I have to say, that is one line in the Narnia books that I have always loved…"He is not tame, but He is good…" *sighs contentedly and smiles*

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

OH….I forgot…It is also nice to know that people are reading these even though they aren't commenting. πŸ˜€ Hopefully, out conversations can plant seeds. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • Fire Fairy says:

        Amen to that!

narniafan4ever, I really like your point about God not being at our beck-and-call. I never really thought about it before, but I can see what you mean. A lot of people think that when the pray to God, He HAS to give them what they want, when they want it. And when He doesn't (notice I said when, not if), they get upset and claim that He's abandoned them. It's as if they think they can force their will upon Him…which is exactly what we should NOT do. Others seem to think that there can't be a God because there's so much suffering in the world. There's a story that is a good explanation for that. It's about a barber and his customer, who are discussing God. The barber says that He doesn't believe God exists because there is so much suffering in the world. The customer says nothing to this, but as he goes to leave, he sees a man outside with shaggy hair and a beard pass by. He comes back in and declares, "I don't believe barbers exist." The barber, surprised, exlaims, "Of course barbers exist!" "No, they don't," the man insisted. "Or there wouldn't be people like that man outside." "Ah," replied the barber. "Barbers do exist. People just don't come to us." "Exactly!" the man said. "God, too, exists. People just don't come to Him."

I don't think there's much I can add to that, except that I feel sorry for people who don't believe in God, simply because God doesn't fulfill their personal requirments. God is not defined by man's will; likewise, man is not obedient to His will. The key to becoming like Him and getting to know Him is learning how to submit ourselves to His will.

      • 220chrisTian says:

narniafan4ever β™₯, Fire Fairy, and Aunt Letty: deep stuff! I loved reading it! Fav thought: "The key to becoming like Him and getting to know Him is learning how to submit ourselves to His will." Of course, finding the "reply" button took awhile. πŸ˜‰

      • narniafan4ever β™₯ says:

Fire Fairy: I like the story about the barber. πŸ˜€ That is dead on! And not only because all people don't go to a barber or God, The same story can be used to make this point: Just because we don't always see the results of God's existence doesn't mean that there is no God. πŸ˜‰

220chrisTian: I am glad you are enjoying reading our discussions. πŸ™‚ I love that thought that you labeled as your favorite thought!!! I think that is going to be added on my list of favorite thoughts as well! lol πŸ˜€

And speaking of favorite quotes, I thought that I would share one of mine! It really doesn't have anything to do with out discussions, but I thought I would share it. πŸ˜€ Here it is: "A girl should be so lost in God, that a guy who is trying to win her heart, will have to seek God in order to find her." πŸ˜€

*sigh* I love that! I guess that kind of tells you that I am not the kind of person who dates around, but that I am waiting for God to reveal that special dude to me. πŸ™‚ And until that time, I shall be immersed in Jesus. πŸ˜€

Sorry, those last two paragraphs had nothing to do with our conversation. I just wanted to share it. πŸ˜€ Anyways, talk to you all later! πŸ˜€

      • Puddleglum says:

        narniafan4ever;
I believe yhe verse that best fits your comments is "When you ask, you do not recieve, because you ask with the wronge motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." James 4:3 NIV
This brings us back to the original comments on athiesm. Anyone remember Madylin Murry O'Hare? She was the aithiest who originally worked to get any reference to God out of public schools. The son she used to get the case in court back then is actually a minister now. He relates in a book how she, as a young woman had prayed that God give her a certain man. When this did not happen she turned on God as an athiest. I believe someone earlier had posted about how some athiests are bitter. This was certainly the case.
I must say that I am impressed by your favorit quote. If only all women, and men used such advise.
"But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" Matthew 6:33
Aunt Letty; I don't want to be seen as rude, but just to save time getting to the reply, I will start a new line.

      • Fire Fairy says:

Oh, wow. *embarrassed* Who'd have thought I'd say something that people'd want to quote? That's just…wow. I don't know what to say now…

narniafan4ever, I love that quote as well. I actually only just heard it a few weeks ago, but I love it! I, too, want only the mate that God wants for me. πŸ˜€ Another one of my favorite quotes that I heard on the same day, which has nothing to do with our discussion, is "A wise man once said, 'I don't know. Ask a girl.'" πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

*Ahem* But, yeah. Puddleglum, by new line, do you mean the one on the new page? Because it didn't seem to relate to our conversation. Oh, well, you make a good point, though. The reply button is getting very difficult to find.

Anyways, Puddleglum, your example just about fits my scenario exactly! (About asking God for something and abandoning Him when He doesn't give it to them when and how they want it). That's so cool, especially since I didn't know of any examples.

I'm not saying that you are, Fire Fairy…not at all! πŸ™‚ I guess I just get fed up with girls who tend to say they are "stronger than a guy" or "smarter than guys". God created the men to be the protectors of the girls! We should treat them with respect in return. πŸ˜€

I hope you aren't taking this as my saying you shouldn't have said that. It was just in jest, I'm sure. πŸ˜€ I was just stating something that was on my mind at the moment. No hard feelings! πŸ˜€
