The kids have finally been announced.  I kind of wished the girl playing Lucy had a lighter color hair, but she looks great for the part. (I hope that makes sense.) Dec 2005…. *sigh* only 531 days to go. Your browser may not support display of this image.

Tirian, when will ya’ll mail the letter?

Finally!Your browser may not support display of this image. Your browser may not support display of this image. They’re all so adorable! Your browser may not support display of this image. Especially Lucy, though there aren’t any clear shots of Edmund or Susan.

17, 15, 12, and 9 are the ages of the actors.  Interesting choice.  I wonder what age they will actually be playing? (as actors hardly play their real age).  I guess what’s important is Mosley (Peter) still looks young.  I think he could convincingly portray a 13 or 14 year old.  The costumes also look really good and can help hide their real ages as well.  I’m not too concerned if the characters are a few years older in the movie than the book, but it should still be believable.  For instance, I think a 20 year old would be too old.

Oh, I hope that these films turn out decently!  It would seem too kind and require too much luck for both of my favourite fantasy series be turned into good movies.Your browser may not support display of this image.

LOL! Your browser may not support display of this image. I was waiting for someone to comment about haircolour! Your browser may not support display of this image. I was going to say something about it in my previous post but forgot. Purists unite!Your browser may not support display of this image. For me hair colour is so arbitrary since it has nothing to do with the character’s personality.  I’m more concerned about the acting abilities of the child playing her.

I agree that she looks great but then, I really don’t know that since a picture can’t tell me how she acts or how the script will portray Lucy.

What are people’s thoughts on the professor?  I’ve seen some of the other movies he’s been in but can’t remember him.

I think I’m about to go into a joyous seziure!!! Your browser may not support display of this image. Your browser may not support display of this image. Your browser may not support display of this image. Your browser may not support display of this image. !   Sorry, I had to do that.  Your browser may not support display of this image.

William Mosely– Okay, this guy is perfect.  He looks almost exactly as I imagined Peter.  That is– a child, but a leader who has a majestic quality to him.

Anna Poppwell– She definitley fits the description of Susan from the books, but she’s not as I imagined her– but that’s only because I was influenced greatly by the actress who played Susan in the BBC movies! Your browser may not support display of this image.

Skander Keynes– A little taller than I imagined Edmund, but I think he could easily get the “Edmund-attitude” down flat! Your browser may not support display of this image.

Georgie Henley– This girl, while not fitting the books description perfectly, is still amazing.  She’s got the face already, and the eyes.  I can’t wait to see how she’ll play the part.

I’m going to be happy for a very long time!

The children look great! Even though there isn’t a clear shot of ‘Susan’ or ‘Edmund,’ I think they look more the way I picture the children than Lucy or Peter. Maybe if Lucy’s hair were a bit longer she would ‘fit’ better. Your browser may not support display of this image.

The professor looks pretty ‘professorish’ as well. Now, if only all of these cast members are good actors! Your browser may not support display of this image.

The irony is that everyone complained about the appearance of the BBC’s Lucy, yet this Lucy looks remarkably like a younger version of her and no one seems to mind….  Your browser may not support display of this image.

Hey, a little bit off the subject…. I’m surprised how green everything is and how obviously warm (for the middle of winter) it is in the pictures.  I thought New Zealand was far enough south to have a real winter.

trela25 – July 12, 2004

Vert cute kids. Caleb is right. There is a similarity between BBC’s Lucy and the new one but the new Lucy is way cuter.

*******

Smooshy – July 12, 2004

I don’t see an similarities at all! Other than MAYBE having the same hair colour but it’s a gingery brown which seems to be quite a common hair colour. Heck, my hair is the same colour!  BBC Lucy had chipmunk cheeks but this one has apple-cheeks. The latter is much cuter since it seems to bespeak of smiles and laughter while the former of pouting.  JMHO, of course.  Really though, the two look nothing alike.

As to it not looking like winter in the photos, perhaps it’s actually quite cold, cold enough for snow, but it just hasn’t?  Here in Canada we always get cold winters but depending on the region, there can often be weeks of no snow if its a dry season.  Or maybe there are warm ocean currents surronding the islands keeping it warm?  Isn’t that why England hardly gets any snow in the winter even though they’re farther north than many parts of Canada.
