Disney’s ‘Tron Legacy’ Releasing Dec. 17, 2010

According to ComingSoon.net, Walt Disney Pictures is planning to release Tron Legacy on December 17, 2010. That is exactly one week after Voyage of the Dawn Treader is scheduled to hit theaters. Currently, three other films are also scheduled to be released on the 17th: The Green Hornet, Yogi Bear, and Smurfs. The first two Narnia films both faced tough competition in their second week. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe went up against King Kong, and Prince Caspian against Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I am looking forward to Tron, but Dawntreader will get my business first. Really they are completely different movies so I am not worried at all. See both but see Dawntreader 3Xs, hahah.

Ha, I can't believe Green Hornet is going to be made into a movie. Looking forward to hearing about that, but of course…..I can't wait for DT!!!!!

I think VDT will do better. But I am a little mad that Disney decided to put Tron 1 week after. Why couldn't they put in November 2010 instead of December. We will see who does the best.

  12. Crimson Dragon says:

To tell you the truth, I'm not that worried about this…

  13. Servant of Aslan says:

Yeah everyone back in 2005 expected Peter Jackson's King Kong to be the big holiday movie but we know how that all turned out. GO NARNIA!!

  15. Ugly Pig says:

I'd be worried about this if it was a movie anyone actually cared about.

What is Tron Legacy? It sounds like a cheesy action figure. I hope that VDT does so well and Tron Legacy is such a bomb that disney will be regretting the day they ever dropped the Narnia franchise MWAHAHAHA! 😀

Seriouly…none of those films are serious competition. I mean King Kong was from Peter Jackson, The King of all Movies. And people had been waithing for Indy forever!! But..what is Tron Legacy??? It sounds like one of those cheap new fanstasy or scifi stories trying to match LOTR or the Matrix or something like that.

  18. tolkienlewisfan says:

However due to the fact that PC didn't do so well…Tron might have a small chance but not those other films

Yayy! I'm so happy that they've finally started making some progress on VotDT!
Btw, for those of you who don't know about Tron Legacy, it's the sequel to the 1982 Disney movie Tron, which is about a guy who ends up inside his computer helping the "programs" fight an evil program or something like that. The original was a bit of a flop, but it has developed quite a large cult following since then. It also made an appearance in the game Kingdom Hearts 2.

  20. daughter of the King says:

I think the reason LWW did so well and PC didn't was because they were targeted at different audiences. LWW was the holiday family movie event, PC was a teenage action summer flick. So LWW didn't have competition from King Kong because the families didn't go to see that, and PC had competition form Indiana Jones and Iron Man because the teens went to see those instead. Shows what happens when you don't stick with the book…………

  23. DeAnn says:

I love both Tron and Narnia! So it's a win-win for me!

  24. Savber100 says:

I rather not go underestimating these films. I mean we thought the same with Ironman. (I mean seriously who would have believed back then that a man that wears an iron suit and flies around will be serious competition for PC?)Well, we all guessed wrong and the Ironman turned out to be a smashing hit, while also hurting Prince Caspian's box office chances. So let's not jump into any conclusion just yet. 😛

Well I'm sure they will both do great, especially VDT!
