Lucy’s Reaction to MLG Going Overboard
A few days ago, Tamara posted a video showing the Mysterious Little Girl (Gael) and Rhince jumping off the ship. It started all kinds of speculation and discussion about who the girl was, and why she was jumping off the ship.
Now, this video might give us some another clue. It shows Lucy and Edmund’s reaction:
Before the calling action, Jeff Okabayashi seems to say “They just jumped in the water, and they’re swimming out to their mom.” It’s hard to read Lucy’s expression, but Edmund puts his arm around her. Any theories on why? Post them here.

My guess is, with them wearing armor, this is after the "big pitched battle" at Narrowhaven I suspect will happen. The MLG is freed and gets to go see mommy. Though I could be wrong. Isn't the MLG part of the dragon attack scene? Can't remember

I bet the Mysterious Little Girl is one of the Sea People they find near the End of the World. I suspect she's the one Lucy immediately knew she liked when she saw her. That might have been difficult to convey, so the director probably altered the story slightly to have Lucy and the Sea Girl actually meet.

Perhaps it was just a scene where they are contimplating whether to go or not, and perhaps lucy and edmund realise how much they miss they're mum … ?? (i don't know it's a hunch) 😀

Can't say there is anything really new here (we already knew Edmund put his arm around Lucy to comfort her from the spy pictures) but still nice to see. 🙂
I think that maybe they did this as if they were happy that the girl got to see her Mum. They both seem calm enough. Just a guess though 🙂

It's a thought… but I expected a mermaid looking thing. Maybe this was after they got out of slavery and they secretly took this girl who Pug kidnapped and are helping to look for her mother. And when they try to comfort her, Rhince sees her off distance and MLF jumps to swim to her mom while Rhince knows she can't swim very well and thinks she will probably drown in the waves. And the reason Rhince knows the mother's name is MLF told him when they asked, "What is your mother's name?" And the Edmund hugs Lucy thing is probably because Lucy doesn't want to say goodbye to her in this way. Or she's nervous about something. Either way, that was cute! And I'm jealous. I would do ANYTHING to be Georgie so Skandar could hug me. And William Moseley and Georgie kiss each other on the cheek and forehead. Lucky Georgie and Anna!:(… But when I first learned Susan's named was Anna Popplewell, I jumped for joy! Anna is my name too. Anna Popplewell is the most GORGEOUS woman on earth! And William Msoely and Skandar Keynes are the most GORGEOUS men on earth!!!
cool video. if lucy is that worried about her (that edmund has to come over and comfort her) then she must be pretty important to the story.
Lucy is probably emotional about MLG being reunited with her mother. Edmund, being the really great big brother, senses this and comforts her.
I wonder who her mom is? I got this crazy theory, but since she jumped in the water… what if her mom was a mermaid? That is why. I'm not sure how it would work but it's an idea. But that was sweet when Ed put his arm around Lucy, I bet she was said the girl went, but happy at the same time. At least that's what I think. Sail on VDT!

I am not even going to try to guess. I will just wait till the movie comes out…in over a year. Keep the story of Aslan alive.

Maybe what happened was that Lucy was upset about the MLG leaving. I hope that the character that this girl is playing doesn't drown and Edmudn is comforting Lucy on her death or soemthing like that.
I agree. It's fun to imagine what might have been happening, but honestly, we won't know much of anything until the movie comes out. And even then, it could get deleted in the final edits.
It looks like Lucy is smiling… my guess is that it is a happy moment for them – perhaps seeing families separated by slavery reunited? But "they're swimming out to meet THEIR mom?" Could that mean that MLG (Gael) is Rhince's little sister? I'm excited to see this little subplot.
There may always be DVD deleted scenes, though. 🙂
i guess we shall see. as long as it is something that is not added (liek an extra part) if it is part of the narrowhaven sequence or the merpeoples sequence then it would be nice. i guess. Edmund is soooooooooooooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!
Edmund and Lucy totally look like brother and sister! It's great! I wonder how this will play out on screen, guess I'll have to wait for more!

/I/ think that MLG (Gail) sees a halucination of her mother (maybe her mother is dead or missing?) and swims after her even though she doesn't know how to swim well, Rhince jumps in and saves her, and Lucy gets worried so Ed puts his arm around her. I have no idea who the girl is, though, maybe she was a slave girl and Lucy just kind of took a liking to her (like a sister/sister relationship because Lucy's never had a younger sister to comfort or hang out with). But I don't think it's the fisherdess. At least I hope not. I would think they'd look more, like, green and sea-like. But maybe they'll add that in w/ CG? I dunno.Anyway, that's what I think.

I have thought of the mermaid idea…hey, doesn't the book say something about Drinian not wanting the crew to see the people under the water, because otherwise they might jump overboard? May that explain Rhince?

This is cute, but very strange. I really don't know what to think. It's nice to have all these theories, but we really won't know until we have a lot more information. I hope this subplot isn't too weird or unfaithful to the book. :/

The Sea Person theory sounds good, but I really can't believe it. Why would an exotic sea-girl be wearing a plain Narnian dress? She just looks like a normal girl. Or maybe they completely redo her in CGI… But I thought she was in the same scene as Eustace/dragon? Nahh…I can't figure it out. We'll just have to wait and see. *sigh*
I don't think Rhince and MLG are brother and sister. MLG yells mommy after Rhince yells someones name. I don't think he'd be calling his mom after her first name.
You can never know. Stranger things have happend. Remember When I said about the beard? I said that It's posable Ben Barns was showing a yonger beard as a glimps of what the older beard would probably look like. It may be a similer thing with the little girl being prapared for SC

The mer-girl is WAY after the dragon sequence….so I think it's practically impossible for MLG to be her.
This is just a thought, But what if Pug had actually Kidnapped Rhince's (wife maybe, that would explain why He called her a different name the the MLG),and the MLG's mother sometime before, and taken her as a slave to the Lone Islands. Then they go to King Caspian and ask for his help to find their mother. When Caspian hears this He Wants to Help so he takes them with the Dawn Treader and it's crew. This way he is forewarned about the slavery on the lone Islands, and King Caspian could have brought extra armor and soldiers for a fight.(that could also explain the Minotaur, Why he is on the boat.) And that is why Rhince and the MLG are on the ship, to find their mother. They finally find the MLG's Mother, And that would definitely help move the plot along. What do you think?
