An Itty Bitty Picture of Ramandu’s Island Concept Art

Ramandu's Island Concept Art

Ramandu's Island Concept Art

Mirko Grillini, whose blog we reported on a couple days ago, has added a few more entries about his time on The Voyage of the Dawn Treader set. In an entry where he talks about makeup and hair, you can see a small picture of some concept art that is labeled “Ramandu’s Island” at the top. There it is on the right, though it’s a bit hard to make out because it’s so small. But it appears to be a rather tall and rocky island with lots of waterfalls pouring off of it. Beautiful!

Oh, and if you haven’t taken the time to actually read through Mirko Grillini’s blogs, you should definitely do so, they’re very interesting.

Thanks to icarus for the find!

Hey, has this been on the forum? There was a topic about this on the forum I thought *looks confused*.

But to echo everyone else — wow! I like it!

    • icarus says:

Yeah, its been on the forum since Thursday, it just sometimes takes a few days for things to make their way up to the front page whilst NarniaWeb checks with the production that its ok to post it on the news page.

Just goes to show, the NarniaWeb Forums are where its at for cutting-edge news! 🙂

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that seven or more waterfalls are overkill. It might not be terrible, but I can't get the book's image out of my head. Ramandu's Island was flat-ish with rolling hills. It was extremely quiet. I don't think those waterfalls are quiet. ;o)
    Oh, well. Que sera sera.

    • Lady Galadriel says:

I think waterfalls make it more mysterious 🙂

    • ChristProclamer says:

Hm. I see your point, Elise (and I like your dedication to 'irrelevant' book details 😉 This is not quite how I had imagined it, either, but…perhaps it is only a peice of concept art? *somehow doubts it*

  24. iLiveInNarnia says:

It is so amazingthat such a small picture sparks up so much discussion and everyones imagination gets working andwondering how this island will look in the movie i love it

That looks awesome! I cannot wait to see it in the movie. 😀

  26. ChristProclamer says:

This is really beautiful. It reminds me vaguely of the island in King Kong, though that may be because of the shape of the terrain and not the waterfalls. I wonder if this is really what it will look like in the final film…

  27. Lady of Narnia says:

Wow! It's absolutely beautiful!! ~*dies of happiness, then comes back to life*~ I can't wait to see how it looks in the actual film!
