Awesome pics! It's really exciting to see the ship. But still disappointing it will be scrapped!
The two fauns (and beavers) with the bell is really cool looking! I wonder if the fauns(s) is/are supposed to be Tumnus… it doesn't look much like him. Idk… I sure the beavers are supposed to be Mr. and Mrs. Beaver. But I could be wrong…
Uhg, the statues with the bells are so aggravating!!! I wonder what they're for and what they represent… I guess we'll see in less than a year!

  2. Starlily says:

The bells and statues are for the "Bell Tower", but other than that we don't know much. It IS aggravating.
The fauns and beavers are a little odd, but I guess they are a nice touch. I just hope there won't be so much detail on the ship that it's distracting. 🙂

  3. yeswelovenarnia says:

One thing I can't hold against them is that they really do have good sets!!!! Awesome costumes too but they aren't in the pictures. I hope they don't scrap it all though. That is a shame for such good work!!!

  4. Tawariell says:

Beautiful pictures! They put so much detail into everything. It is so sad that they will be scrapping such a wonderful work of art.

narnia365– I'm also guessing that the faun and beavers are supposed to be Tumnus and Mr. and Mrs. Beaver.

Where is this bell tower? On the ship?

  5. pselpevensie says:

    amazing pics!
btw- what 'bell tower'? i don't remember that from the book.

  6. Dreamermiss says:

THe pics are really good. THanks a lot! Seriously, how can the head people decide to scrape this amazing artistry? That is such a shame and a waste of good talent. WE never see something this amazing in real life anymore, shouldn't it have a place also to show how many people still love their craft? I think someone should get a bunch of people together and buy it. THen out it on display somewhere.

  7. wolfloversk says:

I am so glad they put lots of detail into the ship, it makes it more realistic. I really wish they won't scrap it.

  8. Mirima Rosetrader says:

The pieces are beautiful! THEY ARE GOING TO SCRAP THE DAWN TREADER??? WHAT IDIOT THOUGHT OF THAT STUPID IDEA??? NOOOOO!!!

  9. narnian resident says:

wow! im in awe! its amazing how much detail they put into these things, and most of it never even gets seen in the movie! wow……i truly have never seen a ship so beautiful before, its just plain breathtaking! i love the doors that go into the room im guessing is caspian's, and i just adore that faun and beavers bell statue! its all so beautiful and amazing! im now at a loss for words 🙂

  10. narnian resident says:

lol well thats what makes it fun for the people who send out these things: its a mystery to all the rest of us, and we will never know until the movie, or unless someone finally tells us in an update. how bothersome!

  11. LadyCourage says:

Agreed entirely. Wish I had the money to do that… =(

  12. sirsimon says:

WHAT???????!!!!!!! They are going to scrap it?

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN, SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME????!!!!!!!!!

  13. narnia365 says:

Oh, thanks for the info! I must have missed the "bell tower" part in the news…
The statues look so weird with their hands holding their heads off their necks. Like, really weird…

  14. iLiveInNarnia says:

Awesome! I love the detail of the ship. It's incredible

  15. AndreyaofNarnia says:

Coolio! I do wonder what the 'bell tower' is…
Tawariell – I agree! If you look closely you can see the faun has a flute in his hand.

  16. Puddleglum says:

    Scrapped?
Someone tell me where the dumpster is! The rope pegs alone are worth the time digging through the trash.

  17. narniafan4ever ♥ says:

Yeah, I know. What is up with that…..it makes me nervous. 🙁

  18. always narnian says:

Wow! A lot of detail. I think that a normal ship wouldn't have such detail- because of the inconvenience- but I think a King's ship may. What do all of you say?
    Your Narnian friend Always Narnian
    For Narnia, AND for ASLAN!!!

  19. coracle says:

    Thanks for the great photos!

  20. Leolani says:

There is no bell tower in the book, anymore than there was a castle raid, a romance, stuck-up characters, etc. etc. *sigh*

  21. narniaqueen says:

i wonder why the lords' heads are detatched? is that an artistic way of expressing that they're lost?

  22. Starlily says:

I think the bell tower is going to be at Narrowhaven, where Gumpas is. I heard there's going to be a fight scene or almost-fight scene located at it, but no one knows for sure. *shrugs* It's quite a conundrum.

  23. Starlily says:

Yeah, what's the purpose for their heads being detached? Does it have some hidden meaning? It's kind of creepy…

  24. adamie says:

WOW!I guess that the faun and beavers represent tumnus and the beavers.

  25. narniafan4ever ♥ says:

Some of the stuff on the boat looks really weird. One was the lords with their head de-tached and the other one was the weird looking fish on the side of the boat. here is a link so that you can see them….

  26. Wow!!
    That is awesome!!!

  27. Charles says:

I have no idea what the statues are unless they are trying to show them being detached from Narnia, symbolically, that could be a cool way to play that up. In the book I never got a full sense about why this was so important, the mission, to find them. The statues at least add some weight to the idea of them being gone as being bad for Narnia and worth a trip to find them.

  28. violet sky Raven says:

    awesome pics! thanks for sharing!

  29. Lucy of Narnia says:

Leolani, there was a battle raid strongly hinted at in the book. (See the chapter with the Dancing Lawn)

  30. Reepicheep, Knight of Narnia says:

Awesome! Can't wait for Dec. 10!

  31. iLiveInNarnia says:

Im still confused about the bells! 🙂
AWESOME LOOKING SHIP!! IM SO EXCITED!!! (too bad it will just be thrown away..)

  32. wolfloversk says:

Honestly I don't see the problem with the bell-tower. Just cause its there doesn't mean they're going to make it a major part of the movie, it's probably just there for the detail, like all the stuff in the beaver's hut.

  33. tenthofthatname says:

LOVE these photos. I wish I could set foot on this ship.

Just a thought on the bell tower: Could the statues be a monument Miraz built for the seven? The detached heads seem inconsistent with the way Caspian would portray them. Since the big bell is on the Dawn Treader maybe we can assume that's how Caspian would design a tribute to the seven missing lords, whereas Miraz's design has a symbolic underlying meaning that he had them all sent away with the intention for them to die, hence detached heads!

  34. CelticPotterNarnian says:

These are great pictures of the Dawn Treader its still so sad most of the ship is going to be thrown away. 🙁

  35. NarnianElf says:

That would be SOO cool. I can't believe that they would even consider scrapping all that! I think that they should make a museum, and make it in Pennsylvania because then I could visit it.

  36. NarnianElf says:

My very thoughts, I just couldn't put them into words! Very well said. I have always wanted to go to sea and be a sailor of some kind, and that would definately be my ship! It's so beautiful!

  37. NarnianElf says:

Very nice thought. That makes alot of sense.

  38. King Skandar the Just says:

awesome awesome awesome!!!!!!!! They are so awesome! I love the picture on the Dawn Treader! It's exactly how I imagined it! It's amazing how much detail is on it! It's a shame that they probably don't even really get a close up on this amazing artwork!

  39. ASLAN'S CHILD says:

i LOVE the on board the dawn treader picture.its beatiful.is better than what i imagined it would be i love the details on the door.and the two stirs on each side goin up.its amazing i hope they put it on a museum.i would love to climb on that thing.great job!and i absolutely cant wait for the movie to come out.its gonna be the best movie in the world!!!!!!!!

  40. Narniamiss says:

Wow, never even thought of that. But why would the film show Caspian back home? And how would Lucy be with him, since she, Ed and Eustace were dropped in the picture mid-voyage? I mean, it is possible, but it seems kind of out of the way. I am thinking this might be more around Govenour Gumpas's land. Since Lu and Caspian are attacked, I can only guess at this point that Gumpas sends someone after them.

  41. Narniamiss says:

The details are truly stunning. The woodwork is amazing, and I am more and more intruiged by the statues and bells. I really can't wait to find out more. 🙂

  42. tenthofthatname says:

Speculation says the bell tower set is possibly in Narrowhaven. Really I don't recall a lot of Telmarine influence in the Lone Islands where the book is concerned, but some interaction between Miraz and Gumpas' governments is believable to me. They are both unsavory!

  43. narnia fan 7 says:

    Bell Tower???

  44. true-narnian_queen says:

What have they changed the fact that the three lords are asleep and made them into statues! its a bit confusing. but i my mind they can not mess up the movie. SAIL ON VDT

  45. checkers says:

I'm just wondering why the statues are holding their heads…a bit odd, don't you think?

  46. Nice pictures. What's this about a "bell tower" getting attacked? I don't seem to remember that from the book. :-S

  47. Tarwe, the Narnian Elf says:

Simply amazing, stunning, gorgeous, awe-inspiring… I can't believe how much work they put in the making the 'Dawn Treader'. I hope we get to see at least some of these details in the actual movie, or maybe the movie makers will include a documentary-thing on the 'Dawn Treader' in the behind the scenes. Why do they have to scrap it all?!

  48. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

Such detail! I love it. I showed my mom and she was like, "are you sure it's not computerized?". lol

  49. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

Lucy of Narnia, there was a meeting at Dancing Lawn, yes. But Glenstorm was ready for full-out battle, not little raids (as was Caspian's first thought and intention). From there, the Telmarines were tracking them down, upon which they fled to Aslan's How and were attacked there. They fought at the very door of the How everyday (and some nights) just to keep alive, so an actual raid was never carried out.

  50. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

    mmm… a Narnia museum….

  51. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

    ohh… yeah

  52. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

    yeah it does

  53. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

    There's a bunch that they're adding that's not in the book…

  54. Lucy of Narnia says:

Ariel, okay, the book didn't actually say that there was a castle raid, but an audience just wouldn't be happy with what there is in the book. Also, in the movie the Telmarines were right on the Narnians' doorstep, the only entrance into the How. If the book and the movie were identical (which having the Telmarines right in front of the only entrance doesn't hinder), then the Pevensies and Trumpkin would somehow have to get past the Telmarines. It was all right for the book, but I always was rather curious how they managed it even then. In a book you can wonder exactly how something is done, but in a movie, you see it. The movie-makers would have to make up something right there and then. Besides, a castle raid (for which the original idea was in the book, which neither said it happened or it didn't) is far more interesting in a movie than endless little battles are.
And by the way, I don't see any problem with any bell tower. I'm sure there's any number of bell towers in Narrowhaven and such places.
Sail on, Dawn Treader, and keep up the good work, Walden, as with the two previous Narnia movies!

  55. Reepicheep, Knight of Narnia says:

I like how they have statues of Mr. Tumnus and the Beavers. I hope that they draw some special attention to that.

  56. Hermitess of Narnia says:

Yeah, it reminds me of the Magician's bearded mirror in the book, except that wasn't as strange looking. The book says it could also look like it had a cheerful meaning, these can't.
Pray for the Dawn Treader movie.

  57. anonymous says:

Perhaps everyone should donate some money – there seem to be so many people on this site – and we could buy the ship after the movie! 🙂

  58. Wow! Those pictures are incredible!

  59. HighQueenofNarnia says:

The beavers are especially odd because Nikabrik mentions in Prince Caspian that there are no beavers living in Narnia- pg. 180.
