Alanis Morissette Performs “Wunderkind” at Olympics Closing Ceremony

The 2010 Winter Olympics closing ceremony was last night, and as part of the ceremony, there were performances from native Canadians. One of these performances came from Alanis Morissette who sang “Wunderkind”, the same song found in the closing credits of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Thanks to Littlej_thevaliant and Odette for the heads-up!

I freaked when I saw that on the Olympics Closing Ceremony. I was completely amazed, and I even sung along. It was awesome. 😛

  2. LL says:

    NOOO! I missed it!

I so wish I could have seen that!!

  5. narnian resident says:

man its such a beautiful song i love it! and her voice is so lovely!

  6. Hermitess of Narnia says:

Oh great, I missed it. It looks like it happened after what we thought was "the end". Our version stopped after the parade of the moose, beavers, and canoes!

But the video looked absolutely wonderful. I hope she really enjoyed this opportunity.

  7. Aslan's my homeboy says:

    I missed it too! NOOOO!

  8. Fire Fairy says:

No! I missed the entire closing ceremony! I hate not having a TV in my apartment! Hopefully the video works… *crosses fingers*

  9. Fire Fairy says:

Auuuggggh!!! That site is blocked! I want to see it!!!

  10. Warrior 4 Jesus says:

The song is okay and Alanis Morissette has some good songs but the title of that song is not good.

  11. Starlily says:

    What's wrong with the title?

  12. Lucille Brown says:

Looks like the only thing I will miss by not watching the Olympics is this.

  13. Warrior 4 Jesus says:

Everything. It sounds awful, it looks awful. I think it's meant to be a play on the term 'one of a kind' but it comes across as something beyond cheesy – similar to 'Wonder Kid' or bad but supposedly cool spelling (ala SMS talk).

  14. LL says:

    Thank you!

there is a link on our twitter to the full video download as well.

Pretty lady, great song. I'm sorry I missed it and that the Olympics are over! 🙁

  17. NarniaLuver4Ever says:

Thanks for posting the link so I could watch it! 🙂

  18. Keyaan says:

    I Saw that! 😀

I also noticed, that when she was singing, they made it look like it was snowing (and an icy, blue backround). Then as the song went on, it gradually got more colourful and the snow started to go away.

Is that drawing to any illutions, there? 😉

  19. Dan says:

Warrior, it's an English word that comes from the German term meaning "wonder child"

It's a meaningful title to the song.

  20. Scrubbers says:

I personally loved buble's song. LOL. To all you Americans out there, you might not have gotten it, but we were poking fun at our stereotypes. And to you Canadians, did you not LOVE the HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA THEME! 14 Gold! Hockey Gold! Oh man! BEST OLYMPICS EVER!!!

  21. Craig says:

What the heck does the TITLE of this or any other song matter? It's beautiful music, beautifully sung by a gorgeously talented lady.

  22. Anna's Sister says:

I missed the closing but that is awesome that a Narnia song got in!!

  23. Feather~Light~Heart says:

like like!!! That is so cool 🙂 Unfortunately I don't have cable so I didn't see it 🙁

  24. pselpevensie says:

    OMI-ASLAN1 I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I MISSED THAT! MAN, I'M BUMMED!

  25. AndreyaofNarnia says:

    Mispronounced of course. 😉

I'm sad to have missed it. It's great to have a Narnia song sung at the olympics!

  26. Weapon Master says:

I can't believe this! I was having trouble with my DVR to record the ceremony, and now I'm really annoyed about it.

  27. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

I was not aware that she was Canadian….

  28. Ariel_of_Narnia says:

Personally, I never cared for any part of the song (words, voice, or title). But that's just me. The only reason why I listen to it at all is because it's Narnia. But I'd be even happier listening to "New World" by TobyMac even if I don't really like it or any of his other stuff either.

  29. FrecklefaceJill says:

Oh no! I can't beleive that I missed it! And I don't think that I can watch stuff like that on our computor, for some reason it refuses to watch links………..

  30. FrecklefaceJill says:

    *Believe*

  31. Rilianluvr4evr says:

Ditto!!!!! I wish the Olympics was everyday…and I SO wish I could of seen the closing ceremonies. I would of FREAKED OUT!!!! I practically did, anyway, when I saw the NW story lolz 😀

  32. Rilianluvr4evr says:

The Olympics give me a undescribable, beautiful feeling inside, similar to the one that Narnia gives me lol. Idk why, its just sooo gorgeous…I can't take it in ;).

    and Apollo Ohno <<<333

  33. Karine says:

Thank you! It was really beautiful, and quite moving too..

  34. MissAravis says:

Her voice was 100% identical to the way it sounds in the soundtrack. Makes me wonder…

  35. I didn't know this cool I agree with MissAravis

  36. narnianheart says:

I hope my grandma recorded it!!!

  37. Aslan's Meadow says:

    Miss Aravis,
I was wondering that to, and it did look like she was lip-syncing just a little….But I don't know for sure.

  38. Unfortunately, Alanis Moriesette did lip-sync to the song. But, what a beautiful song. It's very dreamy.

  39. Littlej_thevaliant says:

so i wasn't the only one who noticed. kinda a cheat-but on the bright side, at least it sounded better than some of the others 😀

  40. TWILSON says:

I am a Heavy Metal Nut. The song was one of the most touching songs I have hard in a long time. I was so pisses while watching it when the song was interupted/overshadowed to do interviews with medal winners.
    Alanis is an angel.

  41. JayTaynarnia says:

i listened to this song at the closing ceremony at the 2010 olympics and immediately fell in love with the song, i haven't stopped listening to it in 2 days and counting and of course it helps that it was from a beautiful canadian. The song has such a sureal feeling to it. I believe the name of the song is the perfect name for it and makes the imagination roam when i listen to it. I haven't seen the second narnia yet but the ong itself descibes so much to…..well gtg rent the movie. Again beautiful song alanis!!!!!!!

  42. JayTaynarnia says:

I just watched it again and i'm sorry but i absolutely did not see anything that would indicate she was lip syncing, even if she was she had to sing the song in a studio to make the song anyways which in no way takes away from her ability as a beautiful very talented singer/songwriter!!

  43. Little DLF says:

WAAA!!!! I can't believe I missed it!!! I knew I should have stayed up later!

  44. Little DLF says:

Featehr Light Heart, you don't need cable to watch the Olympics because I don't have cable and I was still able to watch. I missed the song anyway, though. Poo.

  45. Little DLF says:

    Ours too. Stupid NBC. 🙁

  46. Weapon Master says:

I see what you mean. Still an amazing performance, though.

  47. Beruna says:

Really? I myself got the impression she was synching also, and in my eyes that is a cheat- although yes, it doesn't mean she has no talent. (Ah, well, different strokes, huh?)
I'm not crazy about the song… I only listen to it because it's in a Narnia film… but it's amazing it got sung at the Olympics; YES!

  48. QueenLucy12 says:

yeah I can't believe I missed that part… Oh wait what they said it was "the end" that was SO NOT "The END"
yeah she was so lip singing
