The First Dawn Treader Movie Poster

NarniaWebber ‘LucyP0104’ has just sent us a snapshot of the first The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Movie Poster. The tagline reads: “Return to MAGIC, Return to HOPE, Return to NARNIA.” Notice the reflection of the Dawn Treader in Aslan’s eye.

Thanks LucyP0104! This photo was snapped at a Regal theater in Pennsylvania, if anyone has a similar shot, please send it in!

UPDATE: We have received the full-size hi-res image from the production. Here, for your viewing pleasure is the Return to Hope:

It's LOVELY! I love how the focus is on ASLAN!

  2. narnian1 says:

    Aslan and Reepicheep.
I think it looks great, much better than Prince Caspian's Poster- but I wish the ship and kids were on it.

  3. Dradl says:

    OMG… I LOVE IT!

  4. narnian1 says:

given fantasia kitty's comment I noticed the ship in Aslan's eye. I love it!

  5. glumPuddle says:

*Yawn* Nice to see something though.

  6. narnian1 says:

*sigh* what a marshwiggle you can be sometimes. 😛

  7. Trufflehunter says:

This is great! The trailer is coming I can feel it!!! It usually comes right after the movie posters begin!

  8. LadyCourage says:

Pretty cool! Wonder if there'll be a more complicated one later. I like the simplicity, but it's not all that eye catching. Not good for advertising.

  9. Liberty Hoffman says:

me too! this is so awesome! I like how they mention not only the return to the magic but return to hope to! totally cool! 🙂

  10. narnia fan 7 says:

    IS AWESOME!!!!!!

  11. The Batman says:

YAY!!! Thanks for pointing out the Dawn Treader in Aslan's eye, I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.

  12. Aslanisthebest says:

It's beautiful, I hadn't noticed the Dawn Treader reflected in Aslan's eye, but that's pretty cool! And I love how Aslan is the centerpiece.

  13. Rilian says:

What's it say? Something HOPE, something Narnia?

  14. narnian1 says:

“Return to MAGIC, Return to HOPE, Return to NARNIA.”

  15. beloved says:

You have a point, there is nothing there to see, except for "return to hope"

  16. GlimGlum says:

Let's hope that a lot of fans and moviegoers return to Narnia that didn't for PC. Sail on VDT! 🙂

  17. chirpingbird says:

    YAAAAAY!
I'm waiting for the "complicated poster" though. I love the ship's reflection in Aslan's eye and the "Return to HOPE" tagline. But otherwise, it's nothing new.

  18. Luis Daniel says:

This poster its so beautifull and original. Cant wait for the trailer!!!!!!!!!

  19. Starlily says:

Ditto on everything you said. I wish there was more on the poster, but it's still cool. The tagline isn't so bad, but what does the "return to HOPE" part mean? I mean it sounds nice, but how does it actually tie in with the movie? Anyone know?

  20. Shy Galadriel says:

Yeah, what's with "return to hope"? Did someone lose it? Does it have something to do with the story? Hm.

  21. Narniamiss says:

    AHHH! So cool. AHHHHHHH!

  22. WilliamMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

YEAH! Finally, the poster! But I'm not sure if I like it or not. I like how Aslan is big because the LWW poster; he was big, but PC poster, he wasn't that big and noticeable. He wasn't great in movie either, well, he wasn't shown very much. I'm really in the mood to see a trailer or a clip! Well, I'm always in that mood 🙂 I also like the reflection in Aslan's eye. I wish there was a picture of Edmund, Lucy and Eustace or something. But that's just because I'm big fans of them. I really hope this movie is good. So far, it's good. People are giving positive notes. And a lot of people said that it's better than PC and is truer to the book than PC. That's good! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

  23. chirpingbird says:

I think it means that the Narnia tales are stories OF hope- while lots of people are losing it.

  24. WilliamMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

At first, I thought that the cars and the parking lot were in the poster too and I was like, "What is THAT doing in there?!?!?!" But then I realized that it was just a reflection. I was like, Phew!

  25. Silver the Wanderer says:

    SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE!!!

Now all we need is a high-rez version that I can make into wallpaper for my desktop :3

  26. LB says:

It's a pretty good poster, but I'd love it much more if Caspian and Edmund were on it 😉

  27. chirpingbird says:

I like it- from my point of view, the HOPE tagline is a sign of the movie staying close to the book, or even all the books. One thing they all have in general is their message of hope, so what I suppose whoever created the poster is getting across is that you once again can experience the power of hope and what comes from it in VDT.

  28. wolfloversk says:

I was thinking the same thing. YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. chirpingbird says:

Anything to do with the fact they are not-bad-looking-guys?
    *Hymms*
    Just teasing. :p

  30. CEP Paul T says:

Aslan. Front and center focus. As he is behind every story. Awesome.

  31. monilip says:

I love it! Really really love it!
And I hope that the scene with Lamb will be great…

  32. I love this one. It is probably–no, definitely–my favorite poster yet. Aslan the main and only focus, just as he should be. It's simple and beautiful, and very Narnian. I'm not crazy about the tagline, but the poster itself makes me very happy!

  33. Braden Woodburn says:

I so love it! And Aslan's eye is incredible! Goshhhh December 10th get here already!

  34. Awesome! If there's a poster, there's a trailer on it's way soon, right? Can't wait.
*wants to go check all nearby theaters to see if they have this poster…*

  35. This means we are getting closer to a trailer!! Right…
    Really like it!

  36. Lucy says:

You know what I think would be really, really cool, considering that the poster is now out? I think it would be way awesome if they released the trailer to the internet on the same day the PC movie was released to theaters in 2008. Yes, I am refering to may 16th; two days hense (wait, when did I start talking like that? Okay, whatever). They probably won't do that (smash my cookie…sigh), but I'm sure everyone here agrees with me that it WOULD be cool. Just sayin'. Hint-hint, fox and walden media, hint-hint.

  37. Daéa Reina says:

WOW. I think this one is going to be great.

  38. chirpingbird says:

    Yes, HINT HINT!

  39. Waleed Sajjad Khan says:

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  40. Sir Jack says:

LOVELY! .. althought… Aslans eyes don't seem to be green… and his Nose seems too dark.. but I don't want to be too picky, so I think we can really be happy with this poster!
I'd love too have a closer look at the reflektion in Aslans eye

  41. HighQueen_Of_LanternWaste says:

Oh here comes the trailer, any time now!

  42. Sir Jack says:

"the MAGIC will HOPEfully return to NARNIA" 😛

  43. Reepicheep775 says:

It's a nice poster and all, but I was kind of hoping for more. Still good though.

  44. Starlily says:

Check out the story in the "Word on the Street" section of Narniaweb. It says we might (key word MIGHT) expect a trailer in less than a month!

  45. Starlily says:

Haha, very good Sir Jack. I bet that's what it secretly means. 😉

  46. NarniaFan27 says:

In all the pictures I've seen so far Aslan looks way different- I do not like it.

  47. tenthofthatname says:

Wonderful teaser poster, I rather like the conceptual take on it but would love to see a cast poster later on.

  48. MountainFireflower says:

YES! I'm so excited! It's absolutely beautiful. I love how the focus is Aslan, and the addition of "Return to Hope." The reflection of the Dawn Treader is unique too. I LOVE IT!

  49. Narniafan says:

I would have preferred a picture of the Dawn Treader herself; I think she would have had more appeal. But Aslan is cool–however, the reflection of the ship in his eye could remind people of Spiderman 2.

  50. Narniafan says:

Still, this seems to be the best poster including Aslan yet! 🙂

  51. RuralNarniaFan says:

    Ooooh, me likes! 😀

Hope this means a trailer's coming soon!

  52. Narniafan says:

I definitely disagree– Aslan looks way better in VDT posters than the ones for LWW or PC! He looks more lion-like (imo).

  53. ShastaTheSecond says:

Fascinating concept — the first to be of Aslan only.

  54. ShastaTheSecond says:

It seems like Fox really wants the marketing to mirror LWW's–after all, the movie made $700+ million.

  55. Silver the Wanderer says:

….!!! HAHA!!! Apparently the folks at Fox read my comment 😛

  56. Valentina says:

Im a graphic designer and… yeah, the idea WAS cool. But… why Reepicheep is there? It would be more powerful if Aslan were alone! The text are so separate! There's to many information in the poster! I dont like it.
