Plugged In Saw Dawn Treader — And They Loved It

Plugged In, a monthly magazine published by Focus on the Family, had a chance to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Here’s what they say:

Now, I’m not at liberty to tell you too much. If I step outta line, the studio’ll send a guy with no neck to fix my thumbs so I can’t type anymore. But I can tell you this: The third time is definitely a charm for the Chronicles of Narnia movies. I loved it, both as an adventure yarn and as a story full of messages that matter. In fact, all things considered, Dawn Treader may be the most fun entry in the series. Seriously.

You can read the full review here. And in case you’re wondering, it’s completely spoiler-free. There is also a podcast available here where they discuss ‘Dawn Treader’ starting at 17:48.

Thanks to narnianprofessor and Daniel for the heads up!

hmmm…speaking of podcasts, with all this news I think we should have a podcast soon.

  5. Haha, I love how both my sister and I sent that in (Daniel and narniaprofessor)! And I'm really glad that PluggedIn.com liked it, cause I use their reviews a lot.

Hmmm, this "review" doesn't really tell me much.
And from the impressions I've gotten lately, I think the biggest theme in this film is going to be about temptation.
Doesn't really seem right to me. Kind of like Prince Caspian, the movie. It focused way too much on waiting and depending on Aslan's help, rather than restoration to the old Narnia. It sounds all nice and "Christiany", but I rather have what the book is trying say, please. 🙂
I'm still optimistic, just think this review will deceive Narnia fans that the main theme will still be there. In the podcast it's kind of hinted that the main theme is a little contrary to the book.

But the main theme of VDT is overcoming temptation.

I just saw an advanced screening of VDT here in Atlanta. It was very very good. I will go again when it is released.
