Watch the Indian Music Video for ‘Dawn Treader’

Sony Music and Indian Idol 5 winner Sreeram Chandra have put together two Indian music videos for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. One in the dialect of Tamil and the other in Telugu. The song is called ‘Rehnuma’ and the videos have some new scenes from the movie. (Though the song is sung in different dialects, the music videos are the same).

The full story is available here.

Thanks to The Archenlander for the heads up!

Here’s the video from a local Indian news story on YouTube but it has a lot of scrolling text at the bottom.

Thanks to Narnian_Maniac and NarnianDuchess for the YouTube link!

UPDATE!! We have the lyrics.

Rehnuma – Leader

O my leader, now I desire for you every moment.
You wrote my story and molded my ways
and now this world is a pleasant place

O my leader, this world now shines
because of your presence

You became the breath of my life, dear friend
This world is now colorful because of your presence
O Lord who leads me

Thanks narnianprofessor for sending them in!

Is there anywhere to find the lyrics in English?

  2. WarriorOfNarnia says:

The song is awful, but awesome new shots!

  3. I made screenshots of all the new clips shown in this music video at http://goo.gl/32o7r. (That's a Picasa Web album. You can find all my other screenshots and Narnia pictures there too)

  4. Pepper Darcy says:

Yeah, the song was kinda *blah* and then it got stuck in my head. But I loved the *few* new shots we saw!

  5. T.T says:

@Warriorofnarnia, how fair is your statement. He worked on that song, u shouldn't rubbish it. look at the bright side not the dark side and fyi, am not an indian or asian.

  6. Telmar Pictures says:

Yes, they make a local song in vain. For movie in Russia it was selected (not written) song, which has nothing narnian.

  7. stbrianofminneapolis says:

I love all this international treatment the film is getting. I don't know what the lyrics mean, but I'm willing to believe they are as good as any song in English from the previous soundtracks. Narnia is for everyone.

  8. Malfhok says:

I can't understand the lyrics at all… But that is some sweet guitar work in that song!

  9. Rilianluvr4evr says:

Its just different music then we're used to hearing. I bet if they heard our style music they would think it was weird

  10. ShelbyofthePurpleSkin says:

Stop bagging on him! I totally agree. I'm not racist and I'm sure Warrior isn't either? I don't think he didn't mean to be rude. It doesn't fit Narnia at all. We all have different opinions.

  11. Aneesh.A.R says:

Iam an Indian. Am a die hard fan of Narnia. In my view somebody ruined the nice movie clips with ***** music and lyrics. music is kind of romantic, doesn't suits for a fantasy, adventure type movie. Wanna kick that composer who ruined the clips…….hate this song

  12. Scarlet13 says:

huh, interesting… but if I only knew what He's saying!

  13. Francoise says:

    I'm expecting french lyrics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. WarriorOfNarnia says:

Thank you, Shelby, for stating what I was thinking perfectly

  15. I don't speak either Tamil or Telengu, but I've got to say that I like this song, both versions.

I have no idea what they're saying, though…I know that at least a few of us NWebbers speak the Indian languages…anyone up for a translation?

  16. Aneesh.A.R says:

What did you mean? What I said or what the song composer says?

  17. Sui-Lun says:

I wonder what they'll do for China and Hong Kong (although I don't live there anymore).

  18. I want the English lyrics too! I don't know that I like much Indian music but I really liked this song. I thought it was lyrical and cool! And yes, nice guitar. Excellent job, Sreeram! *claps*

Those who dissed the song: this is an international effort on the part of Fox and they should be applauded for the work they've put into this. I'm sure Indian fans of VDT will love the song! Narnia is international [fanbase], just like the church is international! Have you noticed the 21 countries currently available on Narnia.com? Or the international Fox websites and Narnia fansites? MundoNarnia, Narnianos, Narnia France, etc? Have some respect!

  19. pselpevensie says:

i love seeing foreign countries taking an interest 🙂

  20. Scarlet13 says:

no, I wonder what the guy singing is saying

  21. Scarlet13 says:

i saw a Narnia VDT book with aslan on it today at the store!

  22. QueenLucytheValient says:

Yeah that's what I was thinking Shelby.

  23. narnianprofessor says:

    Here is an English translation:

    Rehnuma-leader

O my leader, I desire for you every moment
You wrote my story and molded my ways
and now this world is a pleasant place

O my leader, this world now shines
    because of your presence

You became the breath of my life, dear friend
this world is now colorful because of you presence

  24. I wish I could translate, but I only speak Urdu/Hindi; I don't even know what language he's singing in, but I still think it's beautiful!! 😀 -Waleed Sajjad Khan

  25. Narnian Meerkat says:

    Wow. . . . .that was. . . . .wierd. . . .kinda cool though. . . .Will he ever sing in English?

  26. Narnian Meerkat says:

    Oooooo, that's beautiful! I like those lyrics. . . .

  27. Amelia says:

Oh wow. Those *are* beautiful words! I wasn't sure if it was a Christian song but the words seem to be so!

  28. Thank you, NarnianProfessor. Now this is going to be stuck in my head all day…

  29. WarriorOfNarnia says:

I like the lyrics, just not the tune of it.

  30. I created a new playlist on YT for Aslan's Country called "International Narnia." For now, it has the international trailer plus lots of new videos on Sreeram Chandra's song. They include interviews, a press launch, and music videos. Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A4FE9AB3F37BEEF0

  31. NewMillenium says:

Thanks for the lyrics! I love them 🙂

  32. Evan Morgan says:

Love the lyrics! Thanks very much! They are amazing 🙂

  33. David M says:

I like this better than Carrie Underwood..

  34. I actually think the lyrics are really good, and fit the story perfectly! In fact, they'd fit any of the Narnian movies. Just the music isn't Narnian sounding which is what throws it off. But I say it's still good, and I give it about a….. 8 out of 10.
    If you're wondering, I'm Pakistani. 😉

  35. narnian resident says:

umm….i think the song is…not fitting. but i love the new shots.

  36. narnian resident says:

wow! those are beautiful lyrics! they're like a worship song

  37. Loyal Narnian says:

Wow, not exactly a Narnian tune, but the lyrics fit really real. And I'm sure for an Indian singer, he's quite good.

  38. Manticore says:

It's sad that I like his voice better than many American Idols. 😛 This is so pretty.

  39. carl angel 5 says:

try listening to it again – after the initial shock of having a light hearted song playing during these usually dramatic shots, I actually began to enjoy it…

  40. Narnia&The_North says:

Awesome lyrics! The tune is different but I kind of like it. Indian music sounds so neat!

  41. Narnia&The_North says:

    Yes! Totally agree!

  42. Adeona says:

I actually really like this song! The lyrics sound a lot better then "There's a Place for Us", if narnianprofessor is right. I want an English version!

Congratulations to Sreeram Chandra on getting to sing for VDT!

  43. Starlily says:

I know Dragon Eustace pulling the ship kind of goes against the book, but visually I really like it. It's so cool to see a dragon pulling a dragon ship. But then I like dragons anyway. 😉

  44. Narnia Fan says:

This song is good. There is a hindi version of this song in youtube. Sreeram is the 5th Indian Idol and the most popular one. These clips are very good. Can't wait for the movie.

  45. DearHeart says:

Oh, I love this song!! I have to agree with most everyone that the tune don't sound very Narnian. Being from a missionary family though I can totally understand why they created new songs for each country. I mean it is so special to have a song in your own language at the end of a translated film. This might not be our Heart Music but,it is theirs.
    ~What Might Have Happened~

  46. Abren says:

Not ususally the kind of music I would associate with Narnia, but its really funky, I like it! A lot better than Carrie Underwood's one thats for sure

  47. Columba says:

Music is totally fitting for the theme the song is trying to bring out. There are obviously many more adventurous, pulse quicking songs that would fit movie clips. However, this song focuses on the softer more heart felt theme in the background of the story. I was stoked to see that an Indian musician performed this.

  48. Brylowman says:

I like this song a lot better than the one us Americans will get. This sounds like what you might hear on one of the islands.

  49. What's surprising me is that *Rehnuma* is in fact a word in Urdu/Hindi, according to my aunt. It's strange they would use a different word…. But then again, U/H IS a more prominent language in India and my country (Pakistan).

  50. motovin03 says:

well, im an asian, (from The Philippines) … when i heard the song, its very upbeat, but then while scenes from VDT were playing in d background.. im really having a hard time connecting the song with Narnia ..but IMHO, i think this really has something to do with the Indian culture, i mean for them.. that song will really sound great for them and it will fit Narnia…but for some of us, we may not understand it at all coz we have different cultures… so all i can say is let's just be thankful that Narnia is touching people's lives on this planet… let's appreciate the love that all people put in Narnia… whether thru a song or any kind of medium… PEACE! –,)

  51. Wait, where's the second version?!

  52. motovin03 says:

oh by the way… no more racist remarks here ok??? Narnia is for everyone… not just for you…or me… stop that kind of attitude if you don't want Peter shouting at you – ''Narnia's better off without the lot of YOU! (RACIST)'' … lolz! PEACE! December 3 here we come!!! for NARNIA!!! –,)

  53. Mangolite says:

I think it's wonderful that in today's world, there are artist in their own country able to provide musics and songs to a film with a universal theme of love, hope, courage, faith, redemptions and so on. Before, we have only one song and one version and not everybody reads and speak English. So it's great to have varieties. I am Hmong (Hmoob) and I would love to see a professionally done Hmong version.

  54. Mangolite says:

I disagreed. The movie studio did a fantastic job with Seal's romantic ballad "Kiss From a Rose" to the action 1995 "Batman Forever." Not every song had to be an action piece, for every action movie, it has it's silent moment. If you have ever watched movie trailers remade with different sounds and editing, it give the original premise a different twist. It's a lot of fun. You should YouTube it.
