Dawn Treader on DVD and Blu-ray April 8th

Several sources, including the Official Facebook page for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader are reporting that the DVD and Blu-ray will be in stores on April 8th.

Extras on the DVD include:
– Audio Commentary by director Michael Apted and producer Mark Johnson.
– Deleted Scenes (“The Kids in Narnia…”, “Eustace II”, “Mutiny”, “Caspian’s Doubt”)
– Untold Adventures of the Dawn Treader – Animated Short.
– King Caspian’s Guide to the Dawn Treader: Legends and Lore of the great ship.
– 5 “Island Explorations” featurettes.
– 7 Narnian Discoveries: Friends and Foes of Narnia featurettes.
– 4 “Fox Movie Channel Presents” Behind the Scenes featurettes.
– A DVD game having to do with swords.

The Blu-ray will include all of the above plus:
– 3 additional Behind the Scenes featurettes including “Battle on the sea”.
– Digital Copy of the film.

NarniaWebber Griffle points out that the VFX Progression Reel featurette and the Music Video mentioned here is not listed as being part of the extras, but will still probably be there.

Seriously, unless your keyboard is broken or you're under the age of 12, trying be a little more maturity in your post. It was a suggestion and another person's opinion so get used to the fact that NOT everyone will always accept your point of view especially on a subjective content like a movie.
So, calm down, it's not the end of the world.

  2. Princess Jennifer says:

What do you mean ? I think it looks ok. What ye say King Peter ?

  3. Actually, this seems pretty cool. I'm very curious about the animated short. Wonder if Skandar and Henley did the voices for their characters in it.

Ok, so no announcement about a coming Extended Edition (which should include all the extras you guys want). That's disappointing, either because there isn't one coming, or because they don't want to tell us (so we'll buy both), or because they're waiting to see how this set does to judge if it's worth the money to put together. I suspect the latter. In either case, I wish the five minutes of deleted scenes were just been put back in the film.

That said, this set does look pretty cool, and so long as it doesn't duplicate on any future edition, it's not the end of the world. Also, Amazon and other sites will have it discounted a good degree (especially if you preorder it).

So, I'll buy it to support the Narnia franchise, future films and future DVD/blu-ray releases, box-sets and extended editions.

  4. I doubt boycotting buying the DVD would help.
Firstly, I'm not sure you'd get enough people to do it. Most people don't actually listen to commentaries, and if they do, they don't mind too much if a commentary isn't there. Most people, believe it or not, actually buy the DVD to watch the movie.
Secondly, if there were enough people for it to be noticable, boycotting could be potentially dangerous for the future of this franchise. Not enough people buying the DVD could possibly make FOX consider dropping it.
I feel your pain, I would love an actor's commentary too, but boycotting probably isn't the answer. Lots of angry letters to the producers (or whoever looks after these things) would probably work better. πŸ˜€

Yeah, how did your competition go ? Did you win ? I hope so. Yesterday, I drew a picture of the woods, our beavers, and a mountain. They actually ( a-chelly) looked very good !! I am taking art lessons now. I find the " No Peeking " drawing hard. I usually draw the woods, mountains and horses I see regularily. I start archery this week. Sad to say, I got glasses. :{ They are ok, but I would rather gallop on my mighty steed, searhing for my destiny……..or death, which ever comes first !!

  6. What, no bloopers? Oh well. I will still purchase it anyway.

  7. I believe he's refering to the cover on the double DVD pack, which only has a half-finished sail… boy, that's an embarrassing mistake on Fox's behalf… not to mention unprofessional!

I took Ionic Bonding's wise advice and emailed Walden and Fox about it. On second thoughts I have this feeling Fox may release another version just to make more $$$ around Christmas like what was done with LWW. I don't think it beneath them to do that. I didn't seriously mean to hurt the franchise *looks around for embarrassment emoticon".
I probably will purchase this and rewatch all of the Eustance and Reep scenes because they saved the whole movie from being totally devoid of lovability.

  10. Hey, State of Green, that's a good idea emailing Walden and Fox. Would you be able to tell me and anyone else who would like to enquire about this what the emails for these two companies are? That would be much appreciated πŸ™‚

  11. stateofgreen says:

Still not clear…what are the titles of the featurettes that will be on the Blu-Ray and not on the Standard DVD release?

  12. sachin says:

Would Loved Even More If FOX Had Released Extended Edition DVD Anyway I Will Buy It.

  16. Not Of This World says:

That second cover is cool too. I just wish Caspian was on both of them!

  17. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

Happy Birthday Warwick Davis (aka our "DLF" πŸ˜‰ )

  18. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

basically, this all proves that Adamson has to come back or else IN MY OPINION, all the other movies will be stiff and impersonal. but that's just MY opinion.

  19. Peter's BFF says:

Warwick doesn't play Trumpkin. Warwick plays Nikabrik and Peter Dinklage plays Trumpkin. C:

I Can't wait for this movie to come out. I loved it in theaters. I especially enjoyed the fact that the characters are maturing in looks as well as spiritually. Thank you Douglas Gresham for creating the Christian feel. LOVE IT!

I do hope thesiempire is correct, in either way about extra stuff. It sounds correct. If Fox does the bonus or extended edition I'll buy it!

  20. Narnia Archer says:

Caspian is on the double DVD pack cover, he's just really small and is on the Dawn Treader. You can seem him if enlarge the picture or look really close.

  21. Michael says:

    Sounds really cool!!! πŸ™‚

  22. Not Of This World says:

LOL! That was very funny πŸ˜€

  23. Not Of This World says:

    They need a new director.

  24. The Narniad says:

Wait, there's an audio commentary with the director? What about the cast? If there isn't one I'll cry.

  25. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

oh my gosh! you are so right! well, happy birthday Trumpkin! i feel so bad…. πŸ˜‰

  26. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

not thrilled about an "animated short", i mean, really??? animated shorts are on Disney/Pixar kiddie movies, not Narnia! oh well, maybe i'll be surprised and, i dunno, like it more than the movie itself!

  27. reepicheep's_fangirl says:

hahaha, yesterday it was totally like that where i live. i could've sworn the White Witch attacked. πŸ™‚

  28. Princess Jennifer says:

Still, it's not all that bad is it ? I see nothing wrong with it. And you will be watching the movie, not the cover.

  29. NarniaNerd says:

Wow, the DVD cover art is so much better than the poster! It looks gorgeous! Especially the one featuring the ship only. The colors are so stunning!

  30. Narnian Meerkat says:

Hey, is the DVD double pack just a normal DVD or is it Blu-Ray?. . .I wonder what the animated short is!!!

  31. Narnian Meerkat says:

    Don't reepicheep's_fangirl, evereybody makes mistakes. πŸ™‚

  32. Jennifer! I have not talked to you in like FOREVER!!! If you want to see more of my art, just click on my name and it will take you to my blog πŸ™‚ My competition went great! My painting gets to go in the regional competition in May. I got the highest ribbon for it, superior πŸ™‚

  33. Princess Jennifer says:

I LOVE your art !!! I am also happy to talk to you again. Somehow, My computer didn't let me write on here, but I figured out a way. I am so happy that I can come back on here. It was nice to have a friend to greet as I returned from my journey. Thank you .

  34. Princess Jennifer says:

To Queen Elizabeth : I saw the Lord of the Rings movie ( The first one.) And I loved it !!! We will see the next one soon !! Have you ever seen the movie, " The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry " ? It is an awesome Christian movie !! I LOVE it !!

  35. Brisa says:

The cover is being RELEASED with only have of the Dawn Treader's sail? Please, people!

  37. Brisa says:

oops- that was posted twice, sorry

  38. The Lady Arwen UndΓ³miel says:

Anyone know what the little booklet in the picture is?

  39. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

i don't think it's half the sail. it's just the boat is tipped backward-

  40. narniafreak13 says:

I love the new cover!!!!!! I looks so much better without the White Witch on it!

  41. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

this looks gorgeous! this is what the poster should have looked like! see how cokorfuland exciting it looks- that's why i hated that grey bland poster.

  42. Anhun says:

It's a normal DVD with 2 discs. The Blu-ray has it's own separate packaging and everything.

  43. Anhun says:

Has anybody else noticed that on the double DVD pack it touts a "new movie." What do you suppose that means? I'm hoping against hope that they've added footage to the theatrical version of the movie, but maybe I'm misinterpreting.

  44. decarus says:

28 dollars? Gosh. I don't know if i am going to buy it.

  45. NO BLOOPERS!! Aurgh! Oh well… :0

  46. "KingPeter" says:

What I mean is the half-sail with they ugly rigging.

  47. "KingPeter" says:

I forgot to mention Aslan being an afterthought like on PC, and still no Caspian. But NO WHITE WITCH! YESSS!!!

Also, I meant the, not they.

  48. Princess Jennifer says:

Well I don't think it;s bad. I mean, What would you put on the cover ? Like I said before, you will be watching the movie, not the cover !!

  49. stateofgreen says:

To Ionic Bonding and others…if you want to make suggestions for a later DVD to be released with actor commentary here's the email address I used. One of them didn't work, but here's one for product suggestions. Email is way at bottom of the webpage linked.

    http://foxshop.seenon.com/index.php?v=fox_shows_the-chronicles-of-narnia

Walden I used this, but not sure if it is proper to use… press@walden.com

  50. Valiant says:

So does mean the audio commentary will only have Apted and Mark Johnson…they won`t have the actors. πŸ™

  51. Cierra says:

I know, I'm angry about this as well, I love the commentary with the actors.

  52. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

    mmmmmmm, snacks! i'll be over!!

  53. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

ive listened to the soundtrack 5 times and it is still totally nondescript-

  54. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

    maybe it's pre-viz stuff-

  55. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

yeah, maybe he can talk me into liking it better- i hope

  56. Sui-Lun says:

It has more stuff than the previous films!

  57. stateofgreen says:

I'm hoping they'll be included at the last minute…. πŸ™ I emailed Walden and Fox to express disappointment in that regard.

  58. nic says:

The placement of Reepicheep & the bubble(along with bubble color) is not the greatest in overall scheme of double dvd cover, it just throws the whole composition off which otherwise would be still pretty good – while still not being as good as the other two.

The colors are still great, but as a total image it is just abit messed up due to above. The other two are awesome covers though & will be some of the best looking covers in any1's dvd collection since for some reason dvd covers are often not done with the same inspiration as their movie – which is strange really for such a visually based medium and the volumes that dvd's can sell.

I keep my dvd library from getting away from me with filler, but still quite often i know i really like a film but it's just not represented on it's dvd cover & with out watching it you can forget why you really like watching that film – but it won't be like that for people with at the least, either of the first two VODT covers.

You know, for some reason I'm always getting the actors and parts mixed up, too! πŸ˜€
