April Fools: Magician’s Nephew Screenplay Leaked

Hope you enjoyed our April Fools jokes this year!

It’s a phrase that sends shudders down the spine of any NarniaWebber: We have a leaked script.

A page from a purported script was posted yesterday at Twitpic. You can see the leaked script below. The story seems to be sticking very close to the book, in fact some of the lines are verbatim from the book.

Please be aware that this has not been confirmed by the production, but it does appear that they may already be working on the screenplay for the next Narnia movie.

    Nice try…

I don't believe this is real for a minute.

  2. Watziznehm says:

Okay, this April fools business is getting out of hand! But, seriously, I like the style. Before people were shocked about April fools' jokes in the past because they were so far away from the book, but they came true. Now, your trying to go the other way. Hindsight 20/20, eh?

  3. Greg says:

    Too many April Fool's jokes!

  4. Lucy of Narnia says:

Okay, what is so funny? I mean, everyone knows it's an April fools (;P), and I don't see anything wrong with it really,, just a few minor changes…??

  5. David Sutton says:

NarniaFans.com confirmed that the writing team consists of comedian Dave Barry, Judd Apatow, Craig Titley (who is fresh off of Percy Jackson) and the screenwriter from Eragon: Peter Buchman.

  6. Pevensie2011 says:

    For The Magician's Nephew?

  7. Malfhok says:

This post really doesn't read like an April Fools joke at all. I'm swallowing it with a grain of salt, but this looks real to me.

  8. The Inscrutable Rutabaga says:

April fools… or real? It seems pretty close to the book o.O

  9. Sarah says:

Well, having followed Narniaweb since LWW production, I don't think they'd post any real news on April 1st!

  10. Louloudi the Centaur says:

One of two things, because this one seems a bit more believable than the other jokes. 1.Someone is going to be in big legal trouble. 2.The NarniaWeb staff is crazy as Uncle Andrew.

  11. Eavis says:

Well, if it's real…then that's an interesting way to start the movie. However, since it would seem each of the mods is posting a piece of 'news', I wouldn't trust this too much. 🙂

  12. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

    yes

  13. High Queene Shelly Belly says:

thank you narniaweb, i've been laughing my butt off all day! i keep getting "had"!

  14. Rosieforaday says:

aww come on. Didn't you guys already do an april fools joke?

  15. Austra says:

I agree. And what's more, I think that no-one would post something on a site like this without even the slightest hint of its being an April Fools joke. :-/ I don't know whether this is for real or not, but it's certainly interesting…

  16. Eustace says:

    I can't see it!

  17. narnia fan 7 says:

    April Fools!!!

  18. jmr7 says:

I don't think this is an April fools joke. It looks real and Aslan's Country covered the same story. Also, they posted it on March 31st on the Twitpick site.

  19. Caspian says:

Ooh, very nice. Wouldn't it be nice if the movie had verbatim quotes from the book?

  20. Louloudi the Centaur says:

*UPDATE* I have been actually been able to read the scan above on the Twitter. In summary, Digory and Polly watch a guinea pig in the attic dissapear, they are seen by Andrew, who greets them, forces them into the room, and just as he starts explaining about magician's enchantments or something, Polly sees some rings in a bowl…
Okay, there is much of a mystery to this, but I don't think they're joking, even on April Fool's Day. Notice at the top Michael Petroni's name is there as is the date 3/14/11. I'm not losing self-control, but this is not something to be laughed at until we get more information.

  21. WillowofNarnia says:

    Another joke?

  22. adamie says:

I believe this is actually real. the image itself was posted yesterday on the internet. Besides, if this was a joke, they would have made it into something more chocking. As far as I see on a first glimpse, there are no big changes from the book or anything.

  23. Lilygloves says:

I feel like Narniawebbers are like the dwarfs, we've been taken in before and now they expect us to be taken in again! Whether this is real or not, most of us won't believe it.

  24. adamie says:

that MUST have been an joke!!! Eragon was the worst written fantasy film, worst fantasy book adaptation and one of FOX's biggest financial disasters in the fantasy genre.

FOX would never be so stupid to ask him for a fantasy film again!

  25. Moonwood says:

Fun, nice job guys…never too much today…

  26. FrecklefaceJill says:

I don't think this is a joke. But I can never really trust ANYTHING on the internet..people can do anything these days. But I still don't think it's a joke.
    Happy April Fool's Day everybody!!!

  27. FrecklefaceJill says:

P.S. Well, once the movie comes out we'll know if the script on the top of the page is a real, or a fake.

  28. FriendOfNarnia2 says:

I'm not holding my breath…I guess we'll find out tomorrow. It is the first "serious" April Fools joke I've ever seen on Narniaweb.

  29. WilliamMoseleyandSkandarcrush! says:

Haha. That's what I was thinking. But, u have 2 admit: if a person fell 4 all these pranks, they'd be pretty scared!

  30. A lot of times in your comments, Shelly Belly, you are crude. I, for one, would appreciate it if you would not be.

  31. glumPuddle was the only one to make me believe. 🙂 Probably cause it was the first one. Good try though Tirian, next time a little more enthusiasm would help to back it up.

  32. Starlily says:

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Remember it's April 1st, and the Narniaweb mods are very clever. 🙂 I think it's a bit early to see a leaked script anyway, and just because it's close to the book, that doesn't mean it's real. In fact, I bet the opposite is true.

Sorry to be a wet blanket. I just don't want anyone (including myself) to get too excited.

  33. glumPuddle says:

The VDT leaked script was, in some ways, better than the final script. I think that will end up being the case here too. 😉

  34. glumPuddle says:

Sad that it has come to that huh? The idea of getting a faithful MN adaptation is being used as a joke.

  35. Christ's girl says:

I don't know if this is an April Fool's joke or not. It's hard to tell.

  36. Louloudi the Centaur says:

I wasn't expecting a greenlight, but the NarniaWeb staff must have fooled the Aslan's Country staff then, because they're reporting this too. 🙂

  37. Durbelethwen says:

I could never believe this because even if the writers are writing the script now; the could not have finished it already in the period of time that they have had.

  38. adamie says:

    Always so pessimistic!

They ruined VDT and therefore have lost my trust, but when something like this is released (if it is actually real), with nothing wrong with it and actually true to the book, maybe it is wise to give some positive feedback? You are one of the fans they actually listen to sometimes, so if you would congratulate them, maybe they will continue the good work.

    Just a thought…

  39. Bother Eustace says:

This leaked script was reported on by Aslan's Country before it appeared here… collaborative joking?

  40. Lys Aranel says:

Whether it's real or not, they've only just got past pitching the idea. No script is anywhere /near/ ready. Take it from someone who's read leaked scripts while stuff's in post-production and it still didn't pan out. It ain't ready, joke or not.

  41. Shastafan says:

Well done, whoever made that. Now let's see if that'll be a April Fool's joke that comes true… 😛

  42. Farsight1 says:

Come on, guys! Do you honestly believe anybody would buy this for the 9th year in a row?

  43. Farsight1 says:

Come on, guys! Do you honestly think anybody would believe this for the 9th year in a row?

  44. Lucy of Narnia says:

I think it's fake but they want us to wonder. ;P Plus aren't some people here also on Aslan's Country??? Collaborative joking, as was in question!!!

  45. Reepicheep says:

This article isn't April Fools-ish at all. Except, the screenwriter hasn't been confirmed yet! You should see all the April fools pranks on Narnia Fans, they're totally ridiculous!
    http://www.narniafans.com/

  46. wolfloversk says:

    That's the plan 😛

  47. Fireflower says:

OK, how much of this stuff on this website is April fools? (Please don't think me a fool for asking)

  48. Tarwe, the Narnian Elf says:

Fireflower, if you go on NarniaWeb, NarniaFans, TheLion'sCall, or Aslan'sCountry, do not believe anything posted on April 1. They like to toy with our feverish-fan minds. NarniaWeb and NarniaFans are the most reliable sites for news, except on April Fool's Day! 😉 (I don't go on Aslan'sCountry that much, but I think they're good, too.)

I hope you all had a good laugh over the jokes!

  49. littlej_thevaliant says:

OF COURSE IT'S APRIL FOOLS! LOL. I can't believe how many of you think it's real! Tehehe… it's eay to type someone else's name on the top of a page. And anyway- since when did NarniaWeb post ANY leaked stuff…it ain't their style.

    Brilliant work once again guys!

  50. narnian resident says:

i dont think so. there's no possible way that a screenplay can be leaked.
for the record, i dont find these April Fool's jokes funny at all. i've had my own today, but when it deals with Narnia thats just too far.

  51. Clodsley Mole says:

You think the leaked script for VDT was better than what was actually made?
    Think again.

  52. Violamom says:

WRONG. "The Seeker" was far far worse…so much so that I can't even bring myself to call it an "adaptation". Those of us who love Susan Cooper and her original sequence "The Dark is Rising" were absolutely horrified at the pointless Americanization of the main character and utter lack of ANY understanding of the supposed source material. At least Eragon bore SOME resemblance to the original characters and plot. The same could never be said of The Seeker. 🙁 <><

  53. Austra says:

Ha, ha, ha, that's really funny! *Heavy sarcasm* But really, they did have some of us fooled… at least with the White Witch thing and the Next Narnia Film. Everyone (well, almost everyone) believed those two!

  54. adamie says:

It was basically the same thing, they just covered them up in the actual film; All the elements are there. Only the leaked script might have actually worked as a film on it's own.

  55. jmr7 says:

Alright, you definately got me with this one!

  56. Christ's girl says:

Ok, it's a April Fool's Joke. Ya know, since it now says "April Fools: Magician's Nephew Screenplay Leaked"! They had me there for a sec! 😀

  57. AREM says:

I don't see what was so funny…..It wasn't that close to the book and it wasn't that far.. But it struck me how totally creepy Uncle Andrew is gonna be!!!!!

  58. Arvan says:

They were both bad adaptations, but the leaked script had a better story.

  59. Peter's BFF says:

    Amen.

  60. Peter's BFF says:

I could come up with several other adjectives to describe those. I mean Justin Beiber as Digory? He doesn't even have a British accent much less talent!
