This is very sad. My condolences to his family.
I didn’t know he directed Nell. That became my favourite movie for a few years, after watching it in high school. I was talking about it yesterday. I also love Amazing Grace which is so inspiring.

  3. Just Queen, not High Queen says:

I did not know that they slashed the budge of VDT after Prince Caspian. Frankly, VDT didn’t need as big of a budget as the previous two films because it had no major battle scenes. Also, I wouldn’t describe Prince Caspian as having “tanked.” “Underwhelmed at the box office” would have been more accurate.
It’s cool that he had served the longest-running DGA service as president since the 1960s.

  4. Larry W. says:

He made Voyage of the Dawn Treader look so attractive. There was the beautiful ship and the artwork of the film—especially the special effects. He worked well with the actors in performing their parts and their believability. It was as if you were actually sailing on the Eastern Ocean to Aslan’s country. The film was so good at showing the realism of the fantastic voyage.

It’s such a shame. The fond memories I have of Dawn Treader wouldn’t be possible without his artistic vision. May he rest in peace.
